Launch of Zac Posen for Target at Chadstone

I was actually contemplating on not going for the launch of the Zac Posen for Target today due to the cold weather, and if the crazy wind storm yesterday was going to come back again. It’s a 30 minute walk to Chadstone, with lots of trees around, and I sure as heck am not going to risk my life for this 😛

Thank God the winds weren’t as strong today, and the sun was up albeit pretty cold. With my woolies, I took a walk to the shopping centre, and reached there at around 10am.

The entrance of Target did not have any big banners or such declaring the launch of the new collection, but there were a few sales people, all nicely suited up for the occasion, welcoming customers into the store, and were carrying out questionnaires.

There were a LOT of women checking out the collection. They were simply taking the outfits out in stacks to have them tried out at the fitting room. The collection has a lot of black, white, red, brown and purple-yellow outfits. Not really my thing, but I thought I’d give ’em a try.

Please excuse the quality of the photos you see below. I had to sneak my camera in, because photography was not allowed in the shopping centre. I had to switch to my mobile phone’s camera next, as the digital camera was making too loud a noise everytime I snapped a photo. I tried out four pieces.

Zac Posen Red Dress
AUD99 (the quality of this dress is fantastic. Very heavy material)

Zac Posen White Blouse
AUD99

I can’t really recall the exact price of the dresses below, but they are in the AUD179.99 to AUD199.99 range.

Zac Posen Brown Dress
Bloody hell, my hips are massive 🙁

Zac Posen Purple Dress

The purple dress is really odd. There was this long piece of purple ribbon attached to the dress which you’re supposed to loop over the other shoulder or something. I think it looks weird, but I reckon it’s just me that it looks ugly on :p

I didn’t try the rest of the funny-looking purple-yellow outfits. It would be too obvious to the sales assistants that I was simply trying them on for fun without even buying. Any other time would be fine, but since today’s the launch and everyone’s busier than bees, I thought I’d cut them some slack.

I ended up buying nothing from the collection. Even the quality of the red dress was seriously good, I just couldn’t bring myself to buy it just yet. Plus, the more I looked at the puffy sleeves, the more turned off I got. Oh well. The experience was fun though.

My biggest disappointment (and I was really ticked off by this) is that they don’t stock the Zac Posen for Target bag in Chadstone! According to the Designers for Target website, Chadstone was supposed to stock the full range collection (except for the ottoman dress), but when I checked with the sales assistant regarding the bag, she said that there weren’t any. Gah.

The ottoman dress is the red dress which was made famous by Katherine Heigl at the 2007 Emmy Awards.

At Zac Posen’s request, this dress was produced in limited numbers to maintain its exclusivity. You’ll have to register at the Designers For Target website in order to be in the waiting list to be able to buy the dress. Bear in mind that not everyone who registers with the site will be able to buy the dress, as they will have to match with the available stock. The ottoman dress is sold at AUD299.99.

The website now displays the entire Zac Posen for Target collection (this was not available before today). You can check out the collection here.

Oh, and please do not compare me with the model :p

I like the white top. Very nice & has unusual design on it rather the usual white shirt blouse!

Okay I went to the site and I have to say, wth is up with the collection? I am sooo not feeling it. And the sash? Damn that shit just adds pound ok.

And the red dress? I love the colour, love the fabric but uuhhhh, Im not feeling the design. And the white shirt? Have you watched Peter Pan? It reminds me of Wendy’s dad. I’m just sayin.

The only good thing I can say out of this is that I think you have a smokin body. That third pic? WOW!! Cuuuurrrvy.

Work it girlfriend! Work it! =p

Gunners: Hi there, thanks for dropping by. I wasn’t really feeling the white shirt actually, cos it really emphasises how round the top is. But quality-wise, it’s A-okay 🙂

Constant Drama: Girl, you so made my morning 😉 Thanks!

Re. the collection, I know! It was disappointing. I really was expecting more. The purple dress and top are really funny, right? Ugh. I don’t see the point of the sash, really. The only thing that turned me on about the red dress were the colour and fabric. I can’t quite work out the design. It looked good on the mannequin, but when I tried it out, dang, the puffy sleeves are big.

Oh well. There’s always another designer for Target to look forward to next 😉

I find this all very froofy. Good that you didn’t buy any of it.

Love that you snuck your camera in!

  5. Shryh

It’s SO Zac Posen. I actually like the red dress on you. If you’re in the market for a statement making dress, I’d vote for that. 🙂

  6. Tine

Chickadvisor: Hehe, I had to if I wanted to do this properly :p It was actually a lot of fun, in and out of the fitting room just to sneak some photos. I was very nice to the sales assistants; putting them back nicely on the hangers, etc, so that they won’t get pissed at me for trying so many times 😛

Shryh: The hubby actually likes the red dress too. If he buys for me, I’ll wear it 😉

  7. prettybeautiful

    the red one looks gorgeous!
I think the rest is hard to flatter most of the body types, unless u r extremely skinny and tall

  8. Tine

Prettybeautiful: Ahh another fan of the red dress. Hmm … should I? Shouldn’t I? *thinking*

  9. OIMS

You tagline not just size 2 grabbed my attention and I stayed to read the whole post. I agree, if you really wanted any of them, go for the red dress 🙂

Also the model picture is stunning, too bad most of the rest of the world couldn’t pull it off.

  10. Tine

OIMS: Hi there, thanks for dropping by 🙂 I’m glad the tagline caught your attention. As you can see from the photos, my hips are definitely NOT size 2. In fact, I haven’t seen size 2 since I was … damn, have I ever been a size 2?!

Ahh the red dress 😛 I’ll be going back to Chadstone this weekend. If it’s still there, I’m grabbing it 😉

  11. Askmewhats

I’m voting for the red dress, it looks H-O-T!!!

  12. Tine

Askmewhats: I went to Target today, and all the red dresses were sold out! Boo! 🙁

  13. Askmewhats

OH NO!!!!!! Will they have it again??? darn! it looks sooo good on you!

  14. Tine

Askmewhats: Aww thanks very much 🙂 Well, I went to the Target at Knox, and it was sold out. I haven’t gone back to Chadstone just yet. Tomorrow perhaps. If it isn’t meant to be, oh well, we’ll save AUD99 :p

  15. Askmewhats

hahaha now you sounded like my hubby, when I wanted something out of stock, he’ll go “if its meant to be, you’ll see it again” hahaha goodluck Keep me posted on the lovely red dress

  16. reddress

I actually got a call today from designers for target and i found out that i was one of the lucky few to get the Red Ottoman dress for $299 i got a size 8. do you think i will be happy with a dress i have not seen or tried on? i am typically an 8 so i hope their sizes are accurate!!! I found out ladies that 60 dresses were made 24 of which were Red and 36 of which were black 3000 women registered for it…

  17. Tine

Askmewhats: Sadly, all red dresses are now sold out. Oh well. Guess it just wasn’t meant to be. Saved me AUD99, which is also good.

Reddress: That’s great! Yeah, I know, I would be actually very apprehensive in placing an order for a dress I’ve actually never seen nor tried on for AUD299! I hope it works out well for you though, and thanks for the info. Wow, 3000 women placed orders for the dress. I didn’t think it was that well-received, but on the front, it does look gorgeous 🙂

  18. reddress

Well I will keep you informed when I get it, from what I have seen posted on google sounds like a lot of people are planning on selling their Ottoman dresses on ebay, I am not thinking that far ahead I am just hoping it fits. I had a dream about a big event I wore the dress to and my dream had the WOW factor…

  19. Tine

Reddress: That’s a great idea, selling the dress on eBay! If it doesn’t fit, that is. Do let us know how it goes 🙂

  20. reddress

Will surely do, they told me that I have to wait two weeks for delivery– I hope it does not come crushed up!! I just cannot believe that there were only 24 made, the lady who called me said that the Red was the most popular and that more size 8’s were made availiable than any other size, did you try any of the range on in target?? were the sizes accurate??

  21. Tine

    Reddress:
It was at Zac Posen’s request that the Ottoman dress be produced in very limited numbers to maintain its exclusivity. The pieces I tried on were size 12, which was my size, and fitted well. So size-wise, it’s accurate. Can you return the dress if it doesn’t fit?

  22. reddress

yeah the girl who called from target cust relations gave me a code that entitled me to be able to return it and get a full refund if it did not hold up to its expectations as shown in the pics, but i will not get the $20 postage costs back but big deal, i thought well i cant loose out trying it, and it is very sort after from what i have heard all of my friends are very jealous atm!!! i might wear it to the races and enter fashions on the field and depending how i go, after the event i will auctions it and donate the proceeds to children who have terminal illnesses, as i am a mum with two kids and i think that would be something i could do for those precious little darlings to make their final dreams come true. Well thats the plan at this stage !!! lets just hope the damn thing fits I am an 8 so I am hopeful that it should fit and i suppose i can get it altered!!

  23. Tine

    Reddress:
Well, for the postage costs, yeah you don’t have much to lose even if the dress doesn’t fit. Remember to take a LOT of photos in ’em just in case you do intend to sell the dress though. Do it better than Katherine Heigl 😉

  24. reddress

    will surely do!!

  25. reddress

The dress arrived today, I have not tried it on as yet, but it looks stunning!!!! it came with certificates and a congrats letter, all in a dress box, wrapped in tissue paper, not crushed, i am very happy…

  26. Tine

    Reddress:
Excellent! Very happy and excited for you. Wow, certificate as well, eh? Seems all so exclusive 🙂
    Pictures, pictures, PICTURES! :p
