Holiday Shopping Haul, Part 6: The Bags

Please click on the images to enlarge.

On the third day that we were in the US, my aunt brought us to Gilroy Premium Outlets for some, well, outlet shopping. Tim and I are really into outlet shopping, and do not believe in paying the full retail price for anything unless it’s on sale, or absolutely necessary. Factory outlet shopping was something we wanted to do when we were in the US.

Gilroy Premium Outlets was huge. There were so many outlet stores, e.g. Ann Taylor Loft, Kenneth Cole, Hugo Boss, etc.

Gilroy Haul

Tim bought a shirt at Hugo Boss for his dad, and a shirt for himself at Kenneth Cole. The Kenneth Cole shirt was really cheap; if I recall correctly, it was under USD25.

As for me, there was only one store I was interested in, and that was Coach. I’m afraid I didn’t take any photographs of the store; the excitement of seeing the bags got the better of me :p I died again and went to bag heaven!

It was a really good thing that I went to the Coach outlet during that time, because they were giving out additional discounts to the already discounted bags. Some were even going at 50% off the outlet prices. It was crazy, I tell you. I had sales assistants coming to me, bringing bags and more bags with them, whispering excitedly to me, “OMG, these bags are only USD80! So cheap!” Every bag they brought me was gorgeous, and I wanted ’em all. It came to a point where I had to tell them to stop bringing me those lovely bags, because they were killing me with choice!

I could really go crazy on buying Coach bags, because so many of them were going at less than USD100. It was with MUCH self-restraint that I decided to not buy more than two bags (I had to consider baggage space, and bags can take up a lot of space). And you know how difficult that is for me to do :p

Coach Haul

I was never really interested in Coach’s monogrammed bags, and I’ve always loved the soft leather bags Coach have. In the end, I bought two very simple leather bags, with classic designs.

Coach Haul 2

Simple, aren’t they? They’re both made of really soft leather, and I love ’em! The larger bag on the left came up to USD146, and the smaller white bag was USD91. I thought those were great bargains, compared to how crazy expensive Coach bags are everywhere else. It’s ridiculous, I tell you. Coach bags can cost thousands of ringgit in Malaysia.

A majority of the customers in the Coach store were Asians. A lot of them were buying bags upon bags like there was no tomorrow. Bad economy be damned, they say 😉

On a different note, another bag I bought during the trip (this wasn’t at Gilroy), was an Andy Warhol bag. I got this at Ross. I thought it was super cute, and would make a good shopping bag.

Andy Warhol Campbell Soup Bag

Campbell soup, anyone?

This concludes my holiday shopping haul. It was totally crazy, I know, and I’m stoned-broke now, but I had fun sharing it with you 🙂

Gosh! Coach! Me like the bag! Love both designs! But i prefer the bigger one in white though 😛

And yeah, Coach is horribly expensive in Malaysia T_T

  5. Askmewhats

  8. the Constantly Dramatic One

Tine, I know I adore you. You know that…but what’s the point of buying Coah when ppl cant tell from afar that its Coach?

Oh wait, what do you say. You don’t like to show off? Oh…okay. Me, I’m all about showing off. And if I got a Coach bag you bet your ass I’ll be showing off =p

    Monogrammed and all………

  9. the Constantly Dramatic One

Also love you Warhol bag. It’s always a great thing when you can carry around a piece of art with you.

Oh my, I think I can imagine what it’s like close to Christmas. It’d be ten times worse! I mean, my aunt already swept up 5 bags just to bring back to S’pore as Christmas gifts. It’s crazy, I tell you.

    Paris:
Ahh best for last, eh? You have no idea how much I had to hold back. I’d have definitely bought more if I could. Even throw in a couple of wristlets and purses for good measure. But I was determined not to buy more than two bags (mainly because there was very limited space in the luggage), so I stuck to my favourite picks.

    Cheeeeezie:
No worries babes, glad you enjoyed it 🙂

    Plue:
The bigger one was only available in dark brown and that light colour you saw on my bag. The dark brown looked kinda boring, so I decided to take the lighter one.

Yeah, Coach is incredibly expensive in M’sia. After the outlets, I really can’t imagine paying retail. And in M’sia for that matter. Thousands and thousands of ringgit for Coach? I’d rather save that money for Marc Jacobs!

    Prettybeautiful:
Hahaha, Coach really should start stocking up on their smelling salts then. Tee hee :p

    Jenn, Daphne:
Ahh join the club, join the club 😉

    Constant Drama:
Not for Coach, babes. No point lah. So many people in the US and Australia carry a monogrammed Coach. Don’t want to join the herd :p For my self-satisfaction mah, hehe.

Now, if it’s an LV, or Gucci, you bet I’m going to monogram my ass off 😛

Haha, you’re the only who commented on the Andy Warhol bag. I was actually very pleased with that one. Got that for 20 bucks.

  11. Indulgent Diva

I’m a fan of Coach bags myself and the ones you got are just gorgeous! Simplicity is after all the essence of style. 🙂 heheh…anyway, your Andy Warhol bag is cute as well. Not bad for a $20 bucks purchase.

  12. MisSmall

Oh I LOVE the white little bag! The leather looks buttery soft! And for USA91???? That’s a steal!

Coach is so overpriced in Msia that it’s a disgrace! I caved and bought their wallet and wristlet because my US trip ain’t happening anytime soon, but after reading this post, NEVER AGAIN! I’m gonna march into the Coach outlet with an empty luggage and ask the SA to load it up!

    The white one is lovely!
