Time To Change Foundation Shade

When I was first given a sample of Clinique’s Superfit Makeup foundation in Neutral a few months ago, I was thrilled as I thought I’d finally found a foundation that suited my skin perfectly. At that time, the shade Neutral worked. I didn’t have any problems with it for the next few months.

A couple of days ago, I met up with a friend for dinner at the city. When I slapped on the foundation, I was shocked to find out that it was now too dark on me! It looked like mud on my face. Did my face become fairer in the past few months? I didn’t even use any whitening products!

I had to remove a lot of the foundation off my skin, but I still ended up with ridiculously cakey and muddy skin. I was rushing for time, so I couldn’t wash my face and put everything on again. Needless to say, I was awfully conscious of how terrible I looked that night.

Geekchic recommended Bourjois’ 10 Hour Sleep Effect foundation, which she loves. Unfortunately, it’s too rich for my oily skin. I spent a long time at Priceline going from one brand to another, testing out foundation upon foundation.

Clinique Superfit Makeup Foundation in Cream

In the end, I went back to Clinique, and got myself a full-sized bottle of the Superfit Makeup in Cream. It suited me well, so I thought not to waste money on trying something I’ve never used before, not with my very oily T-zone. I now realised that the Neutral was more meant for cool-toned skin, whereas I have just about the yellowest skin ever. Cream suited my skintone to a T.

A lesson to learn, ladies – when your neck starts looking brighter than your face, it’s time to change your foundation.

One reason I don’t really fancy Clinique’s foundation is that the packaging isn’t as stable, meaning it isn’t pumping bottle. More often than not that can result in oxidizing the product turning it a shade darker (much like the foundation stuck on our foundation cap!).

You mention in your post that its been a few months and most foundation are only good for 6 months I suppose this is its way of telling you time to change?

Did you gave Olay effect foundation a go? I think you’ll like it.

But what are you doing with foundations anyway? Your skin is GOOD with tinted moisturizer or a little concealer!! YOU DO NOT NEED FOUNDATION woman!!

    xo

    Hello!

I think the lighting at the cosmetic counters make it more difficult to get foundation of the right shade. They are usually a bit yellowish and dimmer. The best is to see the application of foundation under natural sunlight. But who sells foundation under the sun?! Isn’t it ridiculous?

And then there are certain counters or with bright white clinical lightings which exposes and magnify all the flaws on the face, making you buy loads of skincare or makeup to cover up.

It happened to me Tine, my Joppa Mineral Foundation in Medium light is already dark on me! I guess I need to get out and let the sun shine on my face! hahaha 😀 Happy Weekend!

I think this happens after about 6-8 months of using this. I find that this happens to me too no matter whether its liquid or powder foundation. I’ve often never worn the same product again after that thinking that it was the product’s fault, only to realize now that it’s just probably due to oxidization.

The last foundation Ive ever tried and bought was MAC’s Mineralised Foundation ..didnt work too well for me because the MAC lady gave me the wrong shade. I use ZA tinted foundation which I must say trying the second time around actually does wonders on my skin for coverage! I must do a review on this sometime … we shall see!
