I’m Still Here

Hi hi ladies,

Nope, I’ve not fallen off the face of the earth. Quite alive in fact. I’ve just been rather preoccupied of late, hence the absence of posts. Here are a few random updates:

– I’m sitting for my driving test tomorrow. EEEEEEPS! To say I’m nervous is an understatement. I don’t understand how that is so, when I’ve driven without problems for the past 11 years. I had to rent a car just to practise on, as the husband’s car is not suitable for me to drive on. Five hours of non-stop driving yesterday; hundreds of left and right turns, reverse-parallel parking, three-point-turns, driving in torrential rain, and driving in the dark. All in the course of one day. I hope it suffices. *fingers tightly crossed*

– A dear friend from Malaysia is currently in Australia for a much-needed holiday with her husband, and I’ll be meeting up with her on Thursday for dinner, and Sunday for a day out at the wineries. I’m so excited!

– My parents will be coming to Melbourne for a visit as well middle of May, and I’ve been busy checking out the accommodation, sorting out car rentals, golf courses for them to play on, deciding on what places and restaurants to bring them to, etc. They have never been to Melbourne, so we’ve got to leave them with a good and lasting impression of the place. My dad already thinks Australia is a third world country! 😛

– The hubs and I are currently looking for a place of our own. Not to rent, but to own. We’re waiting for the first home owner’s grant to be over before we really delve in head-on. The first-home owner’s grant is somewhat of a double-edged sword – you think you’re saving $$$, when in fact the prices of the houses are increased to fit that grant (and I really thought it was a good thing at first!). I was just reading the Herald Sun yesterday, and it was reported that the average home-loan has increased by roughly $50K, when before, home-buyers didn’t even have to borrow that much. There are a lot of over-valued properties out there, just waiting to hook rookies like us. Tsk tsk. Anyway, lots of grown-up stuff to look into. Ugh.

That’s basically what I’ve been up to lately. Oh, and I’m so excited and overwhelmed at the response of the birthday giveaway. Really, girls, you make my day. For those of you who have yet to enter the giveaway, go go go!

Good luck with the property hunting 🙂 and with your driving test too. I ought to get my driving license also. The last time I learned was back at my home country ..the only reason why i never continued was because of work. Reading from 2 of the comments here i hope driving lessons in Malaysia will not be too difficult, i just think its about time i pursue my driving license so i can easily drive around KL without depending on the taxis *rolls eyes heavenward* i have terrible patience when it comes to erm .. raging instructors ^_^ I hope you have a lovely time despite the hectic schedule with your friend and family.
