Help, I’ve Lost Interest In Makeup!

by Tine on May 13, 2009

Frustrated

What is a girl to do, one who blogs about beauty for goodness’ sake, when she’s actually lost interest in makeup?!

It’s sad, is what it is. It’s not that I’ve completely lost interest in it, as in I wouldn’t be wearing it anymore (God forbid!); just that the new ones just do not interest me. The only product which piqued my interest remotely was the NARS Modern Love palette. I’m not sure if it’s out at Mecca Cosmetica yet, as I haven’t been there in a long time. Imagine that, I haven’t stepped foot in that store in months! What the bleepin’ hell is happening to me?

I still enjoy reading beauty blogs, but somehow the products just don’t give me that “OMG-I-need-that” feeling. What happened to lemmings? I need that feeling back, dammit, or I might as well just close shop.

Sigh. Is there anyone out there who’s feeling the same? Or have, at least, gone through the same motion? I need inspiration, and I need it fast!

It happens so don’t beat yourself up over it :) New collections haven’t been catching my eye too and I don’t even have Nars here to want that palette! LOL… Cheer up girly, shop in your stash and maybe you’ll drive us to want your stuff yet ;)

Don’t freak out! :) It is normal, I have gone through a stage of walking pass the counters and not taking a peek because it’s not that I totally lost interest in it but because I think I have spent so much and I need my bank account to recover! LOL

The wheels will definitely go up again but at the moment, don’t stress yourself or push yourself to “want to purchase” something. You can always talk about skincare and other stuffs that women like to read! :)

i think its probably because you have been overly exposed to all the available make up.
nothing seems to excite you anymore
everything seems “been there done that” anything else?
happens to me too.
im bored with our local products already. luckily not to overseas one yet
:D

Maybe that’s a good news to your wallet ? Hahaha… Nowadays there are nothing much caught my eyes too… but I’m still pretty much like to doll up myself everyday… so I won’t consider myself as losing interest in makeups…

Hmm…hope this doesn’t sound intrusive but first thing I thought when I read your post is – could you be expecting? Cos I’ve come across many women losing interest in the things they love when they do.

Watch more youtube tutorials and read all beauty blogs that you’ve subscribed and bookmarked. That’s the fastest way I can think off.

I hope something will get you psyched again soon! If it wasn’t for access to US cosmetics, I would have felt the same way you do with the local variety :-/

I’ve lost the “omg-i-need-that” feeling when reading beauty blogs too, even though I enjoy reading them lots!

Maybe it’s because I’ve turned my expenditure onto clothes and bags… but then again, I’ve lost that “must-have” feeling about them too D:

Chill!~ Take it as a welcome break from all the hauling. Pretty sure your bank account will thank you for it. :) And when you’ve recharged, you will start to have interest again.

I’ve failed! Nothing I’ve introduced recently interests you?! Hahaha, jk. I can understand, maybe if you take a short break it will come back to you! Bigger and better!

I’m going through the same right now, ok, not only lost interest in makeup but also beauty blogging…..partly due to the stupid bad internet connection. And partly due to some people who are wet blankets. :( I am not really interested to shop locally right now either…..just feel like hopping on a plane and fly to anywhere where there is NARS ‘cos I want the Modern Love palette so much….and lots other brands I can’t find in this God forsaken country!!!!!

Sorry to add more gloom with my comment.

Cheer up, Tine. May be you’ll wake up in the morning with an overflow of ideas…:)

Don’t worry about it, it’s normal. It happens to me too at times. Not many collections have caught my eye lately. Maybe you can talk about other stuff, like skincare?

Feelings like this comes and goes. It’ll pass when something more va-va-voom catches your eyes and attention! I have that occasionally too! Take a break from blogging on makeup, maybe skincare, fashion, handbags, your routines…what have you..hehe…:) Or just relax and take a break for a while. The interest will peak again one of this days…:)

In the meantime, take care and cheer up! :)

Tine,
I think you should regard this phase positively! ;) Your purse thanks you for that. And well, there are much more other beauty topics to write about on your blog than showing the latest hauls, right?

Love,
Jess
