Fashion Victim. Literally.

So there I was this morning, all dressed up and ready to head out. To put the finishing touches on my *ahem* Gossip Girl-esque outfit, I slipped on something befitting of Blair Waldorf – the headband.

Gossip Girl Blair Waldorf

I bought the headband in a shop in Chadstone over the weekend. ‘Twas a simple, but pretty grosgrain ribboned-band, which sat quite nicely on my rather large head. Not too loose, not too tight. I left the house feeling pretty damn good about myself, if I may say so 😛

Unfortunately, just under an hour of my being outdoors, came this excruciating headache, which concentrated on the left temple. It was rather odd, because I wasn’t feeling ill at all before I left. I thought it was perhaps I hadn’t hydrated myself properly, so I immediately took out my bottled water. Half of it downed, the head was still throbbing.

Just as I thought, ahh screw it, I’ll go home, I decided to take the headband off. Guess what? The headache disappeared. It was gone as soon as it was off. The damn thing was giving me the headache!

Shucks. Well, headband, it was good while it lasted. But you’ve got to go, and I don’t think I can remain a fashion victim any longer. Don’t think my head can take it.

Same, I can never wear headbands, have ponytails or high buns. I get these annoying headaches that irks me to no end. All of these leaves me with not much choices. I can either wear my hair straight (like 97% of the time) or curled for special occasion. Boring, I know!

LOL! I get that too from headbands sometimes. perhaps you can go for cloth ones.
Ahhhh I’m very often the fashion victim when it comes to shoes! Once, when 4-inch thick platforms were in fashion (wait, were they ever in fashion?), I was limping in a shopping mall and ultimately had to buy some cheap slippers to refrain from going barefoot. And those shoes that give blisters! horrible!

ah yes, this is one thing that I can’t stand. I know I have a rather big head, so most of the hairbands are either too tight they kill or are not the tight kinds but too small and loose, so they slowly move up to the top of my head as if I were wearing a crown. Such a hard time finding bands that fit my head.

I have a lot, but I seldom wear them unless yes, I want to do a particular look. So can’t help it but be a fashion victim, since it’s really once in a while, maybe only 3 times a month? I just dress more normal on normal days so I don’t get the urge to put on hairbands. haha.

I use elastic headbands instead as they fit better. And they don’t tangle and break in my thick hair. *grin* I don’t get a headache from headbands but I do get a backache from badly fitting bras.

I can never wear hairbands as well, no matter what size or patterns. Somehow it’ll always end up slipping off and I always get headaches whenever I wear them. Thus in the end, all the hairbands which I got after drooling over them, end up collecting dust.

Haha, I’m the same!! It’s a shame really, because headbands are so cute.

me too! and i thought i had a weird head… it’s very difficult to find a good headband, or hairband as we call it in singapore. even if it’s for the basic use of keeping hair away while washing face etc

  8. evie

me too!!! i cannot wear headbands for long!! or else the part behind my ears will be super pain and headache comes~~

  9. Lenna

Headbands with really thin bands like in the picture hurt my head so much. When I wear headbands, I either have to get wider ones or use elastic ones. Those usually get taken off halfway through the day anyway…

This made me laugh, the same thing happens to me! i remember when I had short hair for years, and went back to long hair, everytime I had a ponytail in my hair it hurt! Eventually got used to it, think I will stay away from the headband!

awww i get this too! especially with those metal frame headband!
pinching my temple and ears!! gahhh

i still dun stay away from them~nowadays i will opt headbands in wide plastic frame or wrap with fabrics~
we can never get sick of ribbons~ and flashy headgears haha

    try getting from Diva, Forever21

Haha. I have the same problem with headbands too! That’s why I stray away from that. That and it sets my age back 5 years =(

This happens to me too! So nowadays I don’t wear headbands at all, even though they’re now coming back in fashion. 😛 But like Connie, I will limp around in my shoes because I love how gorgeous my shoes are and how sexy they make me feel. 😀

some of those give me a headache too, I thought I just had a big head XDDD
now I just get headbands that don’t have stiff elastics or like the ones you got with the metal frame
I really like the ones by mixbaby on etsy, she customs makes them to the circumference of your head if u ask her to and they’re very cute plus you’re not gonna see 10 other girls wearing them like u do when u buy them at H&M or acessorize or shops like those…
let us know if you check her out 😉

I love headbands but yes, they give me darn headaches too. And I thought it was only me.

Headbands hurt! I can’t tell you how often I’ve caused myself a headache with my darned headbands!

I love your blog, Tine! Thanks for writing.

hi.i been wearing headband all my life.actually when u buy headband u must check the size.u can see if its too small for ur head.sometimes they sell kids plastic headband in adult shop .also most of the besi headband from pasar malam will likely to cause u headcahe bcuz mostly are too small for adult and the besi kinda feel tight and compress ur head.the headband that i wear daily its a simple plain ,from chameleon shop.its only comfortable and only 3 ringgit i think.but i think if u buy from specialize accessory shop like diva or evita peroni, they have better quality

Haha, reading these comments makes me glad that I’m not the only one who has a big head! I do like cheap neck scarves as headbands! Trendy and comfy.
