MAC Wonder Woman. Meh.

You ladies know I’m not a MAC fan, so as much as possible, I would not write about MAC products. But this, this I just have to get off my chest. What in all that is holy is up with the packaging of MAC’s (yet another) latest range, MAC Wonder Woman?

MAC Wonder Woman

Am I the only one who thinks that this belongs to Toys R Us, together with the Barbie dolls? I don’t know; if I was Wonder Woman, I’d be insulted.

Not cool, MAC. I thought you knew better. I certainly expected better.

Personally I think MAC should just stop all these collaborations. The colours may be pretty but there’s no way I’d purchase these. The Jeans one thats coming out sounds more original and that’s how it should be.

I agree, this packaging is just completely tacky. the colour and design makes it look so cheap. I don’t know why they would want to bring out something like this, the product colours aren’t very new neither.

Call me tacky, but I think it’s cute lah… 😉

agree. the packaging looks ridiculous too. mac should just be… mac. stop those disneys, barbies, whatever whatever!

I agree, the packaging looks so tacky and cheap. And the shades are kinda boring too…

LOL I can’t even believe they can come up with such! I can only imagine Wonder Woman colors on my nails hehehhe 🙂

Ditto Tine 🙁 I can’t imagine pulling any of that out whilst at work and feeling confident and stylish :/

The packaging is terrible! I’d feel tacky taking a product out of my bag to touch up
    my makeup!

Yuk! Looks like it belongs to a kids cheap makeup set…. cept the price won’t reflect that!

Caroline: Haha glad to know that!

Paris B: My sentiments exactly. I feel as though they’re just pushing collection upon collection for the money. A lot didn’t appeal to me at all.

Mint: I know, right? I look at the colours and think, “I’ve seen these before!”

Milktea: So you’re going to get something? 😛

Coco: I know! I wonder what’s next? I bet they’re going to introduce something 3D (however they’re going to do it). Benefit did it with their Bella Bamba, it’s just a matter of time before MAC does something like that too.

    Gio: Agreed!

Nikki: And I’m very sure you can easily duplicated the colours with the nail polish that you already have, without having to pay the price for tacky packaging 😉

Celina: OMG yes! People will think you’ve bought your makeup at Toys R Us *shudder*

Tara: I hear you, Tara. I’m afraid I find it an embarrassment in my makeup bag.

Melbournite: Hoho, you’ll be able to buy many kids’ makeup set with that Wonder Woman collection.

Fashionasia: Hahaha, I don’t think I’ve ever watched more than a couple of episodes of Wonder Woman. Ooops.

Totally from Toys R US, the clearance section. This must be the ugliest packaging from M.A.C.

To be honest, I really like the new Wonder Woman range that MAC have brought out. Maybe it’s because I’m from a younger target audience or maybe it’s just because I am interested in comic book superheroes but I believe this to be a great marketing scheme for MAC. The reason I feel this way is because it will appeal to younger persons (exhibit A: Myself). Although I’m sure you middle aged women wouldn’t be caught dead in this “tacky” packaging, the colours are beautiful and I believe it would be great to see younger girls getting into professional brand make up such as MAC and further developing their creativity.

Packaging from high class brands such as Avon, Chanel, Loreal, Estee Lauder or Rimmel London do not appeal to a younger target audience due to the lack of originality and colour in their packaging. This is not to say that the packaging is everything, the product inside is the most important aspect but packaging contributes greatly in advertisement. I think you should all consider these points, I believe your opinons to be invalid because they are biased by basing your judgement on personal preference.

being a comic book nerd and a female who enjoys brightly colored make-up, i got pretty excited when i heard this concept. i immediately turned my attention to the make-up brushes. seeing what tokidoki did with their sephora make-up brushes, i thought wonder woman would be on them and knew that’s something i’d buy as i have a ridiculously large amount of eyeshadow and pigments, but not brushes. to my disappointment, this was the packaging. if one of the colors happens to be something i’d wear, i’d buy it regardless of packaging. but this is pretty disappointing, i wonder what dc comics thinks…
