Negative Comments? Thank You, Move On

Frustrated Woman in Front of Computer

Here’s a little something I learned after almost 6 years of blogging (4 years as a beauty blogger), which I would like to share with you. As much as you can, try not to take it so seriously. Always remember why you started blogging about beauty in the first place – to share your love for makeup, skincare, fashion, etc with the world. As such, please expect to have good AND bad comments on your articles. Rejoice in the positive comments you get, be encouraged by them.

When there are negative comments (I don’t mean the nasty ones, just the ones that do not agree with your opinions. The nasty ones, just hit the Delete button. Easy peasy), do accept them graciously and move on. Starting a verbal war, or having others egging you on and you reciprocate, it’s not classy. Step in and moderate your blog when things get ugly. Let’s just agree to disagree.

We’re all adults here. Why fight over a lipstick, eh? 🙂

PS: Stef is doing a great series of posts about dealing with negative comments, which I really think you should check out.

Great post. Thanks for reminding us all to chillax and be adults.

I’m so glad you did this post, Tine! 🙂 A lot of YouTube gurus and beauty bloggers often get offended by constructive criticism and don’t know how to deal with it gracefully. They tend to get really defensive and that’s just not classy. (To be fair though, they do get a lot of undeserved nasty comments.) I’ve never seen that many nasty comments on Beautyholics Anonymous! And I really like how you respond to almost everyone’s comments. 🙂

I love your post. I think ignoring overly negative comments and accepting constructive criticism is the best way to go about dealing with things. We’re choosing to make our content public after all – we should deal with problems graciously

Worth a reminder Tine! Thanks! Its just makeup! Or skincare or haircare or something quite personal and individual at the end of the day. It would be nice if everyone (readers and bloggers) grow up 😉 That said this happens even in real life!

Great post Tine~ Hopefully with the wave of similar themed posts going around at the moment, it’ll give some food for thought on negative people!

very good reminder, but i am going to take this reminder and apply it to work instead. 😛 sometimes i just take negative comments really personally esp when they are not constructive at all

Well said, well said! In my 8 years of blogging, I actually haven’t encountered a negative comment. I think I’m lucky, but it’s always important to remember when to chillax!

    nice post!

Agree! I totally agree with you, there’s no point in arguing with someone who has a different belief as yours or worst, who just want to make you feel bad!

I think this is good advice to apply to life in general. It could be at work or elsewhere, we will move on! 🙂
