Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant

I recently had the opportunity to trial Alpha-H’s Gentle Daily Exfoliant. I’ve never used any Alpha-H products before, and really, the word ‘exfoliant’ had me at hello. It always does.

So, did it make the mark? Was it grainy and abrasive? Did it make my face glow with radiance or as though it stripped off a layer of skin. Read on to find out!

Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant

Description:
The Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant features a unique way to renew the skin, using crushed fruit enzymes naturally sourced from Papaya and Pineapple. This non-abrasive, micro-exfoliating treatment effortlessly lifts away dulling debris, sweeps out blocked pores and leaves the skin noticeably brighter, smoother and feeling baby soft.

Ingredients:
Kaolin, Solum Diatomeae, Bentonite, Carica Papaya Extract, Ananas Sativus Extract, CI77891

My assumption on an exfoliant is that unless it’s a chemical one, it’s grainy with bits of nuts, like most scrubs and exfoliants are. So imagine my surprise when I tipped the bottle over to “squeeze” the stuff out when lo and behold, out came powder!

Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant Powder

This is how you use it: after cleansing your skin, pour 2 measured dispenses from the bottle into very wet hands and mix into a smooth paste with your fingertips. Okay I had no idea what “2 measured dispenses” meant but from a few uses, I just shook out powder the size of a 20-cent coin. I then mixed it with water into a paste and massaged onto my skin in circular motions, concentrating on my T-zone.

Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant Paste

Alpha-H claims that it’s gentle enough to be used daily, but ever since my dry skin disaster, I now suffer from a slight bout of sensitive skin. Instead of using the exfoliant daily, I used it every other day.

So, to answer my initial questions – nope, it wasn’t abrasive at all (given that it was only a watery paste), and yes, it made my face glow with radiance. This is one of those rare products that actually gave me instant results – smooth, just-scrubbed skin without any abrasion to the skin at all. To say I was impressed is putting it lightly. I was blown away by how amazing this exfoliant is.

Will I repurchase once it’s finished? A very definite yes. Why use harsh exfoliants with nutty bits that can scratch your skin when you can use this baby?

Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant retails at AU$59.95 for 50g and is available on their website (check for their other online retail stores) and Adore Beauty. It might seem pricey at first, but each bottle will last you at least three months, if you used it every other day.

What I like about it: Non-abrasive exfoliant, gives instant results of smooth skin.

What I do not like about it: Not easily available in shops.

It’s very similar to Dermalogica’s Microfoliant then. I used that a lot in the past but I’ve slowed down on exfollianting these days 😛

LeGeeque: Oh really? I’ve never tried Dermalogica’s Microfoliant. Will give that one a go when this finishes. I’m nuts about exfoliation 😛

I am loving your new blog layout!!
Also, loved your witty review – the words “nutty bits” made me think of bits/nuts – if ya know what I mean lol…sorry

Ling: Hahahaha you dirty mind you! Yes I know what you meant 😛

  3. Daphne

Yeah, it reminds me of Dermalogica’s Microfoliant too… I’m more into peeling gels these days… something about the skin ‘shavings’ (like eraser shavings) makes me happy. LOL

Daphne: I know what you mean. Me too actually. Something about something peeling off our skin giving it the illusion of revealing new skin, well that just warms the cockles of my heart 😛

Issa: Try getting it online? If not this one, then the Dermalogica Microfoliant as recommended by the rest? That should be available at Strawberrynet.
