The Jojoba Company Gentle Cleansing Balm

The Jojoba Company

Yaz from PRIMPED raved about products from The Jojoba Company a while back, and that was how I heard of the brand. When I was given the opportunity to trial a range of their products, I jumped at the chance to see what the fuss was all about. First on the list to review would be the Gentle Cleansing Balm.

First impression of the cleanser? It’s a thick cream that smells a little like oranges. Some told me they smelled lemons, grapefruits, etc. It’s a citrusy scent, let’s put it at that 🙂

It’s a pretty decent cleanser. I don’t know if it removes makeup entirely since I never just depend on one cleanser to remove my makeup (I double-cleanse. It’s a must), but for a daily cleanser, it does the job. Most importantly, it didn’t leave me with that squeaky clean feeling that strips the skin. My skin feels clean and soft after each wash. There weren’t any side effects like breakouts or stinging after using the cleansing balm.

So, check, check, check on my “good cleanser” checkbox. It’s just one of those cleanser which you either like or don’t, depending on whether you’re into the scent or not. As for me, I dig it.

The Jojoba Company Gentle Cleansing Balm retails at AU$29.95 for 100ml and is available at selected health stores. Please check their website for stockists.

What I like about it: A good cleanser that doesn’t strip the skin, smells pleasantly of citrus.

What I do not like about it: Nothing.

Try the Trilogy’s Cream Cleanser! I’m onto my 6th bottle already! No kidding! I guess it is a little on the expensive side, but I work in Priceline so I do get discounts 🙂
But yes, looking at the ingredients list, the Trilogy Cleanser definitely provide better oils than this Jojoba Oil. However, I do double cleansing as well, but I just used a 100% pure jojoba oil to remove my make up following with Trilogy 🙂 Hope this helps !

Aaryn: Thanks Aaryn. The new layout allows me to post bigger pictures too, which is good for clarity sake 😛

Hello Ladies. Chris from The Jojoba Company here. Gentle Cleansing Balm has pure jojoba from our Australian plantations as the main carrier. Jojoba is actually the main base carrier worldwide for cosmetics so when you have a jojoba based cleanser the jojoba mixes readily with the jojoba base in the mascara, lipstick, foundation etc and it all just comes away. Cosmetics Chemists add jojoba to cosmetics so that skin will not react and to help to stabilize formulations. Jojoba is chemically speaking a wax ester. It is the only plant known to produce wax esters and no oil. Wax esters are 30% of your skin sebum from the womb to adulthood so jojoba has a natural affinity with skin. Skin welcomes jojoba in. Jojoba deep cleanses pores and follicles, carries the plant actives deep into skin then creates the natural non greasy moisturizing barrier across skin. That’s why this cleanser actually enriches and softens skin and replenishes the vital elements in sebum rather than stripping them. Hope that helps.
