Dove Foaming Makeup Remover

I recently had the opportunity to trial Dove’s latest skincare product, the foaming makeup remover. Now, to be honest, I’m not a fan of Dove skincare products. I mean, I love their bodywashes (in fact, I used to use their regular body wash for years before I started trying other brands), but their skincare stuff…meh.

So, how did this go? Did it exceed my expectations? Or it’s just another item to add into my do-not-buy list?

Dove Foaming Make Up Remover

Description:
Gentle on skin while effectively removing make-up, Dove Foaming Make Up Remover works instantly by transforming from liquid to foam. Gentle on skin the remover can be applied directly to a wet or dry face to removed even the heaviest make-up including waterproof mascara, eye make-up and foundation.

Ingredients:
Water, PEG-8, ISOPENTYLDIOL, PEG-20 GLYCERYL TRIISOSTEARATE, GLYCERIN, HYDROGENATED POLYISOBUTENE, POTASSIUM COCOYLGLYCINATE, LAURYL HYDROXYSULTAINE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL LAURATE, LAURYL GLUCOSIDE, ETHANOL, BHT, DISODIUM EDTA, METHYLPARABEN, METHYLISOTHIAZOLINONE, METHYLCHLOROISOTHIAZOLINONE, FRAGRANCE.

Dove Foaming Make Up Remover Pump

Even though it’s clear liquid on the inside (it isn’t oil, contrary to what I assumed it to be given the popularity of cleansing oils), when you press the pump, it comes out as foam. All you need is 2 pumps, and that’s enough to apply all over the face. Gently massage the skin for a minute and then wash off. As this is a makeup remover and not specifically a cleanser, I used this as part of my double-cleansing routine, and cleansed my face again in the shower with a separate cleanser.

Dove Foaming Make Up Remover Swatch

How did I find it? Well, Dove, you clever thing. You have managed to sneak back into my skincare good books with this one. I expected it to be slightly harsh and leave an oily residue on my skin before I cleansed again, as all my cleansing oils and makeup removers did, but this was so NOT the case. It removed all of my foundation, concealer, eye makeup (for the days when I was too lazy to remove eye makeup separately. Yep, I have those days), traces of dirt and gunk on my skin without leaving it feeling even a tad stripped and dry. My skin felt very refreshed after using this.

All in all, I love it, and is currently my favourite makeup remover. When I’m finished with this bottle, I fully intend to buy another. Or three when Priceline has a sale going for Dove products 😛

Dove Foaming Make Up Remover retails at AU$10.99 for 155ml and is available at supermarkets and pharmacies nationwide.

What I like about it: Removes all traces of makeup from the skin, cleanses well without leaving the skin stripped dry or tight.

What I do not like about it: Nothing

Oooohh I’ve been wanting to try this because Napoleon has the same foam makeup remover but for triple the price! And another one I’ve seen is probably some Japanese ones that we can’t always get here in Australia haha.. Thanks for the review! I really want to try this now =)

Blushfully: This one’s cheap as chips, and works very well. Highly recommended!

Xin: I’m hoping it’ll be stocked in Malaysia as well, ‘cos this is good stuff.

I don’t know why we don’t have this down here! *pouts* I think we really should! Everyone’s into make-up removers nowadays and the more gentle it is the better 😀

      Nikki: Hear! Hear! 😀

Oh, I want a makeup remover that is non-greasy! I hope we will have this down here soon! I wanna try it! 🙂

    1. Tine

Issa: I hope so too. This is just liquid, so definitely not greasy.

hey, do you know what the ingredients are? could you type it up or if you’re not bothered, could you post a photo of it? That’d be great. Coz this makeup remover sounds really good but I’m scared that it might make my skin break out. Thanks xx

Michelle: I’m on it! I didn’t take a picture of it because of the way it’s curved, and you won’t be able to read the ingredients properly. But I shall edit and post the ingredients pronto. Thanks for highlighting this 🙂

Thank you so much (: I’m going to try this soon, and hopefully it won’t break me out. I’ve been wondering about it after seeing plenty of TV ads on it 🙂

Gio: Fingers crossed, it might! 🙂

Thanks for the review.. Now I can add this to my next-to-buy list. I’ve been searching for a makeup remover since Loreal discontinued their purple bottle (I forgot what it was called). I’ve tried Bio Essence and it was so thick and nothing came off, NOTHING! I still have the whole bottle sitting at home and i tried using it for my brushes and it didn’t work too.. So into the bin it went.

I’m currently using the Biore cleansing wipes. they are amazing, takes all the make up, dirt, etc off my face, including the really-hard-to-remove Majolica mascaras..

Eunice: I’ve read a review on the Dove makeup remover that it stung her eyes. I’m glad to say I did not experience any stinging to the eyes, but that could just be me. Just wanted to let you know.
Oh I love the Biore Cleansing Wipes! I just wished I bought more when I was in Malaysia. I only came back with a tiny pack (not even the refillables) as my bag was already heavy with all the shopping I did. Sheesh 😛

  8. Eunice

Yeah, I understand that everyone’s eyes are different. I will take note of that.. and yes, the wipes are great! I bought a pack plus a refill.. Hope it can last me till next year..

    Hello all,
Is this available in the US? I live in Californina. I was using Aveeno’s foaming makeup remover but they discontinued it for who knows what reason. I loved it! Now I cant even but it on Ebay or Amazon 🙁 I have been searching everywhere for a foaming makeup remover but had no luck until I found this thread. Anyone know where I can find it? It wasn’t listed on Dove’s website.

    1. Tine

Sandy: Oh dear, I’m afraid I don’t know if this is available in the US. I’ve googled for you as well, but they are only leading to Australian websites. I’ll ask the PR for Dove and will let you know if I get anything 🙂

    Tine,
Thank you. That would be greatly appreciated. My skin is too sensitive for makeup removing wipes. I see an esthetician and I use PCA skin care products for breakouts and foaming makeup removers are the only thing that have worked for me. Please let me know if you have any new info bebegirly_23@yahoo.com.
    Thanks!!! 🙂 🙂
