My 7 Favourite Body Lotions For Winter

I may not be diligent when it comes to using handcreams, but body lotions, oh come to mama. Everytime I stepped out of the shower, just like clockwork, I would slap on body moisturiser. Come to think about it, it’s a habit I picked up only after I moved to Australia. I was lazy as when it came to body lotions back in Malaysia, and even though I slept in an air-conditioned room, I never bothered. Bad Tine.

Winter’s here, and body lotions are an absolute must for me. Relative humidity is low, it’s cold outside, and my skin tends to crinkle up even more (hello snakey skin!). I love trying out new body moisturisers so I don’t just use one all winter. Here are seven of my favourite body lotions for winter (some I use for the rest of the year). All of these met my very important criterias of body lotions – quick absoption, non-greasy and do not leave any oily residue.

My Favourite Body Lotions For Winter

Khiel’s Creme de Corps

Kiehl's Creme de Corps

Ahh Kiehl’s cult product. If you’re looking for something rich and unscented, this is one you should keep an eye out for. I like that it’s rich but not heavy, and being unscented means I can layer perfume on my skin without any clashing of fragrances.

Cetaphil Intensive Moisturising Cream

Cetaphil Intensive Moisturising Cream

If I’m not mistaken, this would be my 4th tube. That’s how much I like it. I find it very similar to Khiel’s Creme de Corps – it’s thick but not heavy, and unscented too. This is very good for days when I get chafing on my back or sides due to friction of my skin against my clothes and bag. It’s excellent on sensitive skin. I’ve even applied this on my face when it gets its highly sensitive moments and other moisturisers just wouldn’t help. A cheap but highly effective drugstore gem.

KORA by Miranda Kerr Organic Rich Body Lotion

I’ve reviewed this before, but just have to say it again. Love the soothing scent of lavender, and it’s great for application on skin prior to hitting the sack.

Vaseline Dry Skin Conditioning Lotion

Vaseline Dry Skin Conditioning Lotion

I’ve used this for goodness-knows-how-many years now, back to the days before they changed the packaging and added new varieties to the range. It’s light enough to use daily all year, but still gives sufficient hydration to the skin in winter. I’ve always been a fan of Vaseline body lotions and this one will remain a keeper. They just can’t go wrong.

Crabtree & Evelyn La Source Relaxing Body Lotion

La Source Relaxing Body Lotion

In terms of texture, this is very similar to the light Vaseline body lotion as mentioned above. The thing that attracts me the most to this body lotion is the awesomesauce fragrance. La Source is one of Crabtree & Evelyn’s bestselling range, and have been for years, because of its unique, marine-like scent. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it sure is mine. This is my second tube, and I can guarantee you there will be more to come.

INVITE Concentrated Vitamin E Cream

INVITE Concentrated Vitamin E Cream

This does not go on my arms or legs, but more specifically, on my breasts. Ever since the breast lump removal surgery, I’ve been applying this diligently on the scar around the left nipple, and I figured what the heck, I’d slap these all over my boobs as well. The breasts are often forgotten when it comes to body lotions. Many of us, yours truly not excluded, tend to just concentrate on the legs, arms and if we could manage it, the back. We forget that the breasts, and especially the nipples, can get dry too. Dry nipples = itchy nipples, and trust me, it’s downright uncomfortable. This works very well, and my boobs thank INVITE for it.

Botanics of Australia Hydrating Body Souffle

Botanics of Australia Hydrating Body Souffle

I recently had the opportunity to try out this body lotion, and whaddyaknow, it instantly become a fast favourite. It has a whipped cream texture, just like souffle and spreads on the skin like butter. The scent of sandalwood is not very strong, but just enough to remind me of what they use at fancy-schmancy spas (this girl loves her spas). It was love at first application.

So there you have it, my favourite body lotions for winter, some of which I use throughout the year.

    2. The new Garnier one that’s only $5 from Priceline!

I have craploads that I do try and use up but nothing like these 2 that I always go back to 🙂

Garnier ones smell so beautiful, don’t they? 🙂

      1. Tine

LeGeeque & Maddy: I had a sniff of the green Garnier lotion, it smells good. Plus there’s a sale going on now, only a fiver per bottle. Haven’t gotten one yet though; don’t know if I need yet another body lotion 😛

I use this Chinese brand, which I couldn’t find a way to read the name of it, but it works really well, not only for the winter but also keeps me safe in the summer! Vaseline is like many of my friends’ favorite, I must try that too 🙂 Hey, by the way, this Vit.E cream, do you find your scar fading away? I wanted to ask something else too, do you use any hair packs? If so, let us know about them too, pretty please! 🙂

    1. Tine

Maddy K: Oh yeah, it’s fading away (BOOYAH!). I’m not just relying on the cream, of course. I’m using Bio Oil and Palmer’s Skin Therapy Oil (in which I will review in a month or so), and the combination is doing wonders to my scar.

Hair packs? As in hair treatment, masks, etc? Assuming you mean that, oh yes I do. Pantene 3 minute miracle treatment, I think is the name. Those are GOOD.

Yesh, I wasn’t clear enough! But thankie thankie 🙂 I’ll try Pantene this time 🙂 My hair makes me crazy now, split ends and every other problem you could find with your hair! I’m using the Dove- damage therapy, but it doesn’t seem to do much on my hair! 🙁
        Thanks again 🙂

I also love the Kora, so lovely and hydrating. Love the smell of La Source as well, I had the hand cream a little while ago and it disappeared in a flash because I was so addicted to putting it on a smelling it! I have a long standing love affair with Palmer’s Cocoa Butter as well – I think I just like smelling like chocolate!

    1. Tine

Sara: Ah see, I’m one of those people who can’t stand Palmer’s Cocoa Butter, because of the scent. Just like La Source. Hee hee!

  4. xin

eeep! i can’t stand the smell of La Source! i gave away the entire La Source range :S

    1. Tine

Xin: I KNEW IT! I knew there are people who can’t stand the smell of La Source! 😛 Aww you gave it away? Give it to meeeee! 😛

  5. Fabuless Beauty

I love Cetaphil body cream. It works wonders and it is affordable!

    1. Tine

Fabuless Beauty: I normally get mine as a gift-with-purchase when I buy Cetaphil’s Gentle Skin Cleanser. It really is good stuff, isn’t it?

  6. Issa

I love Cetaphil body cream too!!! and besides it’s affordable! 🙂

    1. Tine

Issa: It’s one of the very few body moisturisers that I actually finished and repurchased. That’s saying something given that I have a LOT of bodycare products 😛

  7. giddy tigress

I like the Cetpahil one too, and I was introduced to it when it came as a free gift with my Cetaphil cleansers. They don’t sell them on the shelves here though, which is a shame. And the packaging is different too. I like Aveeno body lotions too, but sadly, they’re only available in USA.

    1. Tine

Giddy Tigress: Aww really? We have it as gifts-with-purchase here too, but they’re also available to buy on their own. We have Aveeno here. Let me know if you want me to get you any 🙂
