Bloggie Wednesdays: Ask Me Anything!

Bloggie Wednesdays: Ask Me Anything

Happy Hump Day, peeps!

Today’s Bloggie Wednesday is going to be slightly different. This is something inspired by Beautyfool and Tea Noir (both blogs that I adore, by the way), and I figured why not try it out here. Today, it’s Ask Me Anything day! I think Tumblr has a similar feature, but since I’m not active on Tumblr, why not do it here?

This is how it works. Just ask me any question you like in the comments, and I’ll answer it there. It does not have to be beauty or blog-related, but if you do have any, feel free to holler.

Examples: my favourite food, drinks, if I sleep on my stomach or not (I don’t. Squishes the bazoomas that I already don’t have), if I prefer regular knickers or G-strings (regular knickers, preferably boy shorts. I can’t do bum floss), if I can fly (well, I believe I can. A certain R Kelly said so), most hated word (“moist”. Even typing that gave me the shivers), etc.

You get the gist. Just don’t ask me if I sell a certain BB cream and how much it would cost to buy it from me. Oh yeah, I get emails like that on an almost daily basis and it drives me bonkers.

Do keep it clean. I think I will draw the line at favourite sex position (although now that I’ve mentioned it, it’s …. no).

Over to you! πŸ˜€

Do you KYF (know your followers) by reading their blog (if any) or just to make sure you don’t have crazy stalkers or axe murderers following you? πŸ˜‰

Lily: BAHAHAHA I LOVE THIS QUESTION! Okay, yes, whenever someone comments on my blog and there’s a link to his/her blog, I always check it. You never know, it might turn out to be a blog that you end up following for a long time.

To know if I have any crazy-a$$ stalkers, I check my IP log, look at the IP addresses that have been accessing my site excessively. If it looks dodgy, I might block it.

Still, at the end of the day, having a blog, being active on social media, essentially being on the internets, it does make me vulnerable to crazy stalkers and axe murderers. Best I do is disable any form of geo-tagging, whether it’s on my phone, my camera, Twitter, etc.

And to keep a baseball bat under the bed at all times πŸ˜‰

    Are you a Filipina?

    1. Tine

Issa: Nope, I’m Chinese. From Malaysia, now living in Australia πŸ™‚

Why have you got an ad with a semi naked man in your sidebar? O_o

On a serious note, which is your favorite season? I love autumn myself. Maybe it’s because I’m born in autumn πŸ™‚

Paris: OMG I do?? I don’t see it on mine, mine is an ad about food in Melbourne! Aww dangit, how do I make sure I don’t get semi-naked men ads on my sidebar? Hang on, is he cute? If he is, then I s’pose……………. πŸ˜›

Favourite season would definitely be autumn. Yay great minds think alike! I used to think winter was all right, but this winter really kicked my behind because I’m living in a perpetual icebox (haven’t gotten ducted heating sorted yet). Spring is wet, can still be chilly, and I get the occasional hay fever. Summer’s way too hot. Autumn is just nice. Plus all that lovely red-brown-yellow foliage is a huge bonus too πŸ™‚

You’ve come a long way, from getting married to moving to Melbourne with your husband, to trying to look for a job, to starting your own business, which I believe is doing very well. Well done!

So my question is, if you received an offer for a job you really wanted, would you take it? Why? πŸ˜€

    1. Tine

Pelf: Very, very good question Pelf. I’ve thought about it too. See, the thing is, if I really do receive a job offer of something I’m academically qualified for, it definitely wouldn’t be something I want, because engineering has never been my cup of tea. Chances of me getting offered something I really want is close to nil.

If, by something short of a miracle, I do get offered a job I really want, which is something in the creative arts, media or web design, then it would be something I would really consider.

I guess after moving here, living here, I’ve found that there’s more to life than just working 60 hours a week. And if you really want to do something, you’re never too old to try πŸ™‚

      1. pelf

Yes, there’s definitely more to life than working 9-5 jobs, even if you had one. I’m glad you’re having fun doing what you enjoy doing, because in the end, it’s all that matters πŸ˜€

Do you foresee yourself still blogging about makeup and beauty when you’re 67? =D

Bun Bun Makeup Tips: Hahaha, I really have not idea. Life evolves from one stage to the next, who knows if I would even still be blogging in 5 years? I really hope I still do!
When I’m 67, there probably won’t be any blogs left. Maybe they won’t be called blogs. Maybe people of the future might do something super high-tech, with holographic thingamajigs and whatnots. I highly look forward to that πŸ˜›

Hello! I hope I won’t get into trouble for asking you this, but what’s your favourite BB Cream? I have been searching high and low for one that actually matches my skin tone but to no avail! =(

S: I’ve been using BB creams on and off for the past few years, so I don’t really have a fixed favourite. I’m currently loving Naruko’s Total Defense BB cream. Suits my skintone to a T and is non-greasy πŸ™‚

What is the one place you want to visit and one thing you want to do in your life?

…and to sound less serious…what did you have for breakfast today?
giddy tigress recently posted..A Dream in My HandsMy Profile

    1. Tine

Giddy Tigress: Europe, specifically Paris. It’s a regret of mine for many years now, for not going when I had the chance (studied in the UK for 3 years, never once stepped outside of it, unless it was back to Malaysia).

What I want to do with my life? Live it well. Such a cliche, but it’s true. I finally get the chance to do what I want to do e.g. go for concerts, learn another language, go for hot-air balloon rides, etc. I never would have been able to do it if I was still living in Malaysia because I would still be working in a deadbeat job, with no life whatsoever. I’ve been blessed immensely with the opportunity to change my environment, and I plan to take every opportunity of it πŸ™‚

Breakfast? Toast with peanut butter and Milo. Yes, there’s Cadbury or Lindt chocolate drinks here which would taste better, but nothing beats Milo kao kao πŸ˜›

Not sure if you’ve ever posted on this before, but how did you end up with the shortened form of your name? Why the back bit and not the front? πŸ˜›

How come PB gets to see a pic/ad of a semi-naked man on your blog? All I got was some random dude modeling how to renovate your golf swing… πŸ™

Wait wait… In PB’s defense, I also see the semi naked man with really hot abs. Below it says Tom’s Shoes Coupon. Why shoes? I understand if it says Toms Briefs Coupons or something…

Lily: Oh, the shoes? That’s just a paid text link ad. It’s separate from the Google ad image above it. Okay, why am I not seeing hot men on my sidebar?? It’s my blog, I demand to see ’em sexy abs!

    2. Tine

Rinnah: Ahh see, when I was born, my mum gave me the name Christine. Unfortunately, my grandmothers had difficulty pronouncing the name, they got fed up and called me Tine Tine instead. That’s how it started.

I originally detested the nickname. Thought it sounded so childish, and it surely wouldn’t go well with my friends if they ever heard my parents calling me that (parents called me Ah Tine instead. Don’t know which one’s worse :P). So I told them to call me Chris for short. First half of my school days, I was known as Chris and Chrissie. Until one fateful day in Form 2 or 3, one of my friends heard my mum calling me loudly “AH TINEEEEEEEE”. From then on, that name stuck, and stuck good. I was called that all the way through uni. I finally got used to it, and liked it too, ‘cos it was endearing πŸ˜›

Re. the ad, hey at least you ladies are seeing ads of men. I get stuff about teeth, traffic, etc πŸ˜›

      1. Lily

That’s so interesting re your name! My Chinese name is Hooi Li and my pareta called me Li Li just like your Tine Tine. So my kindergarten teachers thought my name was Lily and there. Stuck until today. I wondered what would happen if my name ends with Choo or Sing or Fat. Gasp!

Lily: OMG I know what you mean. What is with parents and shortening their kids name to two repeated words? When I have kids, I’m naming them proper. I’ll just call them “sweetheart” or something πŸ˜›
None of that Ah Girl, Ah Boy, etc. We still call my brother Ah Boy, even though he’s 27 years old this year. What’s funny is that when we call out to him at a shopping centre, many smaller boys turned their heads as though they were being called! πŸ˜›

    Hey Tine!

Oh I am so glad you liked my post and did one on your blog! Isn’t it fun? πŸ™‚

OK… I have a question! Was it hard to move and settle down into Melb? I know you’re originally from Malaysia and moved to Aus with your husband? (Please forgive me if I’m completely wrong, my memory is terrible.)

Oh, and why did you set up a beauty blog? Why beauty? πŸ™‚

Thanks Tine, have a great day!

    xx Renee

    1. Tine

Renee: It IS fun! I don’t know why I’ve never done something like that before. So much more informal and I get to connect with my readers in a more personal level πŸ™‚

Yep, it was very hard uprooting everything and moving to Melbourne, where I had only one friend (excluding Tim). Quit my job, left my family and friends behind to a country I was very unfamiliar with was probably one of the hardest thing I did.

The only way I kept my sanity was through blogging. It was also through blogging that I got to know my bestie, met an insane bunch of beauty bloggers who are special in so many ways, and having a social calendar that I couldn’t even dream of back in Malaysia. So even though it was so hard moving here, I have absolutely no regrets. I feel like I’m in my prime, yo! πŸ˜›

Why beauty blog? I first started reading Paris B’s beauty blog many years ago. Back then I believe it was Champagne Tastes on a Beer Budget, and I remembered wondering, hey could I do this? I love talking about skincare (not so much makeup back in the day) with my gal pals, and I absolutely adored PB’s blog. I remembered telling her once that I wouldn’t be able to do a beauty blog because I wouldn’t know what to write.

Soon after that, I wrote something about cheap ways to keep dry heels at bay, and PB said “hey see, you COULD write beauty articles! Why not try out beauty blogging?”

And the rest, they say, is history πŸ˜€

Hey Tine, I’m thinking of going to Australia on my pre life year (aka the year i take off after Uni) What’s your favourite place and why?
Will@ Do protein shakes work? recently posted..Do Protein Shakes Work?My Profile

    1. Tine

Will: I do have a lot of favourite places, mainly in Victoria, but if there’s something you must see, it has got to be the Great Ocean Road drive. The views are spectacular, and even though it’s quite a long drive from Melbourne, once you hit Torquay, it’s gorgeous beaches all the way. Needless to say, when you’re doing the drive, you have to visit the Twelve Apostles. Magnificent view! πŸ™‚
