My Beauty Corner & Makeup Collection

Note: Picture-heavy post

After showing you a peek into my beauty cupboard last week, a number of you wanted to see my makeup collection. I love beauty products collection posts; I’m such a voyeur I tell ya πŸ˜› And because I aim to please, here it is.

First of all, I thought I’d show you my beauty corner. It’s nothing fancy though, just a chest of drawers and a wooden box, both from IKEA. I love the wooden box, and it’s a real pity that IKEA has discontinued the range.

My Beauty Corner

The board is leaning against the wall was an old corkboard that I used to have as my inspiration board. When we moved to our current home, I misplaced all the old pictures and had to start afresh. In the end, I decided to keep it simple with some fancy paper, lace trimmings glued on the frame, and scrapbooking bits on the board. It’s still a work in progress.

My Beauty Corner

Mirror was from The Shaver Shop, fragrance diffuser from Revlon. Tissue box cover from Malaysia (even my tissues need a pretty cover. Tsk tsk :P)

My Beauty Corner (Skincare Prodz)

Skincare products I’m currently using gets top spot on my dresser. The pewter case was a gift from Tim many years ago. The ceramic canisters were from Freedom. They hold my hairbrush, comb and facial cotton.

My Makeup Brushes

Next would be my makeup brushes. I’ve separated the ones I use on a daily basis into a highball glass (I’ve added vase filler in the glass so that the brushes stay upright), and the ones I use occasionally into a black jar (gift from Xin).

Products below are stored in the IKEA wooden box.

My Makeup Collection: Top IKEA Drawer

Top drawer (clockwise): Miscellaneous tools like eyelash curler, nail clippers, tiny eyebrow razors, tea tree ointment, Vicks, etc. Next would be lipbalms (geez, I do have a lot of lipbalms, don’t I?), and the final small drawer holds my single eyeshadows.

My Makeup Collection: Second IKEA Drawer

Second drawer: My *ahem* higher-end makeup. This is where the Chanel, NARS, Dior, Illamasqua, Shu Uemura, Guerlain, etc go. Oooh hello NAKED palette!

My Makeup Collection: Third IKEA Drawer

Dividers did not come with the drawers. I made a couple up using leftover styrofoam. Left side of the bottom-most drawer holds all my face powders (loose powder, powder compacts, mineral foundation, etc.

My Makeup Collection: Third IKEA Drawer

A close up of the right side of the bottom-most drawer. On the left are all my mascaras (methinks it’s high time I chucked some), and on the right are liquid eyeliners and pencils for the eyes and brows.

Okay, that’s the IKEA wooden box done. Next up, the first drawer of my chest of drawers. This holds the rest of my makeup, and miscellaneous beauty products. The rest of the drawers are just clothes and lingerie. The plastic dividers are also from IKEA.

My Makeup Collection: Chest of Drawers

My Makeup Collection: Eyeshadow Palettes

Most of my older palettes are stored here, e.g. Stila, L’oreal, MAC, Lancome, etc. Bottom divider contains my eye makeup remover, hair clips, disposable mascara wands, hair elastics, etc.

My Makeup Collection: Lip Products

Left divider: Lipsticks and lipglosses. I’ve already thrown out quite a lot of old ones. Right divider: bronzer and kabuki brushes. foundations, perfume samples. Bottom divider holds miscellaneous items, like my Brush Guards, and a few Estee Lauder and Clinique palettes I have yet to find space for.

My Makeup Collection: Miscellaneous Items

The rest of the drawer: Miscellaneous beauty products like makeup brush cleaner, nail polish remover, BB creams, serums, antibacterial wipes, fake eyelashes, etc. I also have a few makeup brush rolls, eyeshadow palettes from Inglot and SAX Cosmetics. A treasured makeup item which I couldn’t bear to use is the Dior Minaudiere, which is a birthday gift from Beetrice. I’m chucking the box and giving it a spot on my dresser πŸ˜› The other two boxes are jewellery from Tiffany’s and Mikimoto.

My Makeup Collection: More Lip Products

Unfortunately, I’ve completely run out of room in the drawers for more of my *ahem* lip products, so the more recent ones go into a box that came with some undies I bought from Peter Alexander. This box is placed in the study.

My Beauty Corner and Makeup Collection

There you have it, my beauty corner and an updated peek into my makeup collection. Hope I didn’t scare you too much there. I know, I have a LOT of stuff. LeGeeque thinks I should sell them off and get myself an Hermes scarf instead. What do you think? πŸ˜›

Wow… what timing. I checked my blog and you just uploaded yours. I love reading other people’s makeup stash =) I’d say just grow it and grow it and have a room just for makeup stuff. LOL! But on a more serious note, I do donate those I hardly use to ppl who need it more. So, I have fixed a few drawers for makeup and if it overflows, it’s time to clear up old stock before they go bad. Especially cream products!

Lily: That’s a good idea. I have been giving away quite a lot of my stash. Sadly, give out one, bring in three more. I’m terrible at culling my stash πŸ™

  2. LeGeeque

I didn’t say sell EVERYTHING off. I said sell off enough to get an Hermes scarf. Duty free. Bahahhah. DO ET!

    1. Tine

LeGeeque: Hahaha well, if anyone wants my sh*t, I will gladly sell them πŸ˜›

  3. Nikki

LOL…you’re definitely more organised than I am! Right now everything in my room in SG is higgledy-piggledy… πŸ™

And HOI! I bought you the Minaudiere to use leh, not pat or sit on the dresser! πŸ˜› *pot calling kettle black*

Beetrice: I can’t help it, it’s just too pretty to mar. Okay, I’ll take it out, and let it sit pretty on the dresser. Better than it being in the box, right? Right? πŸ˜›

I love peeking into other people’s stash! You’re nicely organized and I have a sudden hankering for that Ikea wooden box too! πŸ™‚

Rinnah: Unfortunately it’s been discontinued πŸ™ You should see all the cool hacks people did to that wooden IKEA box on the Internet. Makes me want a few more πŸ˜›

ooh i am using those ikea dividers too, but in no way mine is as organized as yours. i also have that ikea wooden box, had wanted to get another one earlier but was discontinued >.<

you can get those plastic dividers from Daiso to replace your styrofoams, if you ever need too, hope you don't find me too nosy tee hee!

Plue: Yeah, it sucks that it’s discontinued. No idea why, when it’s so popular. The hacks people do to the box should be plenty of free advertising for IKEA to continue selling the wooden box πŸ™

Good idea on the Daiso plastic dividers. I’ll check it out when I head to Daiso at Westfield Doncaster. Those styrofoam bits, not too pretty, but I guess they do the job πŸ™‚

Oh so neat! Mine is so scary I’m not looking or cataloging anymore. Just using and arranging as I go… and culling to. Nothing stays the same week to week.

Gio: Thanks G. I’m ridiculously OCD; everything has to be placed properly, and it has to go into their respective spots. It drives the husband bonkers, especially when he needs to find a nail clipper or something πŸ˜›

  13. Tina

So organised! As soon as I pay off my credit card I must get myself to Ikea and get a chest of drawers – I am running out of room for all my products & suitcase is not an user friendly option πŸ˜›

Ohhh Tine! lol if I were you I’d sit at home all day playing swatches πŸ™‚
My makeup is sadly living in shoe boxes at the moment!

    1. Tine

Molly: Hahaha oh dear, I don’t have that much makeup, do I? Yikes!

You know what you can do with those shoeboxes? Wrap them with pretty wrapping paper, and you’ll have pretty makeup boxes too πŸ˜›

  15. Sara

On the subject of storage, I had to find a bigger home for my lipstick collection recently and I found the teabag storer container from Aldi (about $6) fits most standard size lippies (and nailpolishes and mac blushes). It is worth checking out as it is a nice solid clear plastic, clear lid, and removable divider for the 6 compartments. If anyone is after a picture the catalogue is on the lasoo website.

    1. Tine

Sara: Thanks for the tip, Sara! I love Aldi. I’m going to check it out as soon as I can πŸ™‚
