Shiffa Tamanu Moisturising Cream For my Turkey Gobble Gobble

I’ve come to that age where I need to start taking care of my turkey gobble gobble. By that, I mean my neck 😛 It used to be that for any moisturiser that did not work on my face, it would go on my neck. Waste not, want not, right?

Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but I think it’s high time I give that neglected area (including the decolletage) a proper tending to, don’t you think? After all, the face does not end at the face, but at the chest.

For the past couple of months, I’ve been paying a lot of attention on my neck and decolletage with facial oils and rich moisturisers. For the latter, I’ve been using Shiffa’s Tamanu Moisturising Cream, which I received in the MBBE 2011 goodie bag.

Shiffa Dubai

To tell you the truth, I’ve never heard of the brand before I started going to Miss Fox for my manicures. Miss Fox uses Shiffa products for their treatments, and after using their luxe body lotions and gold-infused oils, I was highly interested in checking out other products from the brand.

Shiffa Tamanu Moisturising Cream

Description:
A restorative moisturising cream with healing Tamanu. This powerful moisturising cream made from the most healing and regenerative extract of Tahitian Tamanu protects against skin damage and strengthens cell tissue, giving you that youthful radiance.
Designed for normal to dry, including sensitive skins, to calm, renew and heal.
Shiffa products are not tested on animals.
Interesting note: Even though the brand is Shiffa Dubai, the products are actually made in England.

Shiffa Tamanu Moisturising Cream Ingredients

First impressions? When I removed the lid, I was greeted with this lovely aroma. I’m lousy at describing scent; it smells like an infusion of rosemary, a bit of roses, slightly pepperminty…okay I give up. I’ll just say it smells really good 😛

The cream is not as thick or heavy as I imagined. In fact, it’s actually quite light when I apply it on my skin, feels very luxurious and spreads very smoothly on the skin. My turkey neck thanks it very kindly because the cream gives it good hydration and smoothness throughout the night. No miracles of gobble-tightening, but I wasn’t expecting any of that.

So, if the cream is so good, why am I using it on the neck and not save it for my face? Well, I’m already using skincare products that work for my face, and I believe my neck and decolletage deserves a bit of good loving too.

Now comes the not-so-loving part – the price. It’s quite expensive at AU$125 for 50ml. Is this something I’d buy for myself? I’m leaning towards a no. It’s lovely to use, smells amazing, but I don’t think it does quite enough to warrant a hefty price tag. I’m very thankful to receive this as a gift to use, but to tell you the truth, I don’t think I’m purchasing another jar once this is finished.

Shiffa products can be purchased online at Miss Fox. You can learn more about the brand here.

What I like about it: Luxe cream, good moisturiser, lovely fragrance

What I do not like about it: Pricey

Do you use any creams specially for your neck and decolletage? Do you think it’s necessary/unnecessary to have a separate product for the area?

I use Nivea visage for my gobble gobble >< Maybe I should give it some better TLC 🙁

LeGeeque: Does the Nivea work? Yeah have to give the gobble gobble more TLC. Like the hands, the neck shows our age first 🙁 🙁

i really should be caring more for my gobble gobble, but already got lines since young 🙁 🙁 🙁 it’s depressing and no motivation to ‘maintain’ it since i guess the existing lines will never be gone

Xin: Me too. I have deepset lines on my neck. Genes from my dad. Whether I’m thin (very rare moments) or fat, I always have them, and they look really bad. Have to take care of them now. Don’t know if it’s too late though *sigh*

One of the first things my mom taught me about skincare was to do exactly what you do to your face as you do your neck- there’s no point having a young face with a old neck. So I usually cleanse, lotion, serum and moisturize my neck with the same products at the same time as my face. I usually use upwards strokes cos that is apparently supposed to stop wrinkles XD

Catherine: Your mum has taught you well 🙂 Next to the hands, our neck shows our age. My gobble gobble needs a lot of “uplifting” 😛
