Wollongong

Hello from Wollongong

  1. Sydneysiders wear a lot of black too.
  2. No matter how many times I visit Sydney, the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House take my breath away. Every single time.
  3. Never fly Tiger Airways.
  4. Why can’t Kinokuniya come to Melbourne?
  5. It’s refreshing checking out the sights, shops and markets on my own instead of going with people. Getting to do my own thing allows me toΒ fully enjoy the beautiful city.
  6. After a year of coveting the scarf I’ve always wanted on L’avion, I happened to stumble upon the owner of the online store at The Rocks Weekend Market. Not only did I finally get to see the scarf in person (it’s even more beautiful than the pictures on the website), Jo gave me a discount on it too. Oh, and the name of the scarf? It’s called the Melbourne *chuckle*
  7. I had one of the best Japanese meals I’ve had in a very long time at Yukis At The Quay. I couldn’t fault anything in all of the courses, they were that good. Excellent service too. A Japanese waitress came to us apologising profusely that due to the number of tables they had to serve first, our entrees will be late. By 5 whole minutes.
  8. The CityRail confuses me. I was so afraid I’d take the wrong train and end up at Wollongong. Speaking of Wollongong, it’s quite a lovely town. Beautiful beaches and people. And no, I didn’t miss my train and end up there. Phew!
  9. People can be really creative when proposing marriage.
  10. As beautiful as Sydney is, Melbourne will always be my home πŸ™‚

I totally agree with number 4! It would be awesome to have a kino in Melb, especially since they stock all the lovely mooks πŸ™‚

Kim: Oh I know, right? Problem is, mooks are so expensive here! I recently bought a Jill Stuart one, which is, to be honest, just a catalog, and it sold for $30. Can I hear a “crazy”?!

    No. 10 – Amen sister.

I’m hoping to go there soon and visit my aunt for a weekend – you really have me excited now! Though agree with number 10 entirely. πŸ˜‰

I’m in love with that scarf too!

    1. Tine

Peta: Haha another Melbourne lover *high five*! πŸ˜› Do visit if you can though. It is a beautiful city regardless πŸ™‚

I love the scarf! I’m rather into scarves lately… and I think the color theme suits my blog’s. LOL! How big is it anyway? Ah, what a dramatic and lovely proposal. I wanna visit Australia some day!

Bun Bun: Me too! The scarf measures 90 x 90cm, and the material is exactly like the scarves from Hermes πŸ˜›

There were some ladies looking upwards when I was walking along the street. When I did, I was like, awww! The YES didn’t come in until later (probably waiting for the signal for an answer). A lady next to me said “damn, this is going to be an expensive proposal if she said no” πŸ˜›

  8. Issa

Very nice scarf! Hope I get to visit Australia someday πŸ™‚

Issa: Don’t forget to look me up when you do! πŸ˜‰

Just heard from L’avion’s PR the other day and the lusting begins! The scarves they have are sensational! The Melbourne scarf you’ve got is absolutely to die for. Good purchase, I reckon….an absolute work of art gem! πŸ™‚

That proposal you witnessed is absolutely romantic! A definite wonderful story to tell!! πŸ™‚

Love all your pics of Sydney! Have always loved Sydney, but you’re right, Melbourne’s home! Sydney’s just very nice to visit every so often.

Razfira: So sweet, right? The words “She Said” were paused as everyone who were watching waited with bated breath on the answer. That’s why it looked fuzzier than the “yes” πŸ˜›

  11. beautytoast

The proposing part is super interesting. Unlike here in the US, it is boring!!

    1. Tine

Beautytoast: Aww really? But I’ve watched really romantic proposals on Youtube, which are from the US! πŸ˜› This is the first time I’ve actually seen such a proposal in person. The person next to me was saying “man, she’d better say yes, or else this is a very expensive rejected proposal” πŸ˜›

  12. pelf

I will be going to Sydney (also Melbourne) in Sept/Oct this year. We should meet up for tea or something! πŸ˜€

Pelf: You’re coming here? Huzzah! We must definitely meet up. I can’t believe we’ve known each other on our blogs for so many years and still haven’t actually seen each other in person. Do message me on Twitter/email closer to the time. It’s a date! πŸ˜€
