Experience

  • The sales assistants at Biotherm were very friendly. I was actually 10 minutes early for my appointment, so I ended up sitting there, chatting with one of them before the beauty therapist, Peou, returned from lunch.
  • I had a short skin consultation with Peou before the facials, just so she gets an idea or two of how my skin works.
  • Next, I was brought to a room away from the counter, near the lifts. Initially I thought it was going to be noisy because I could still hear people yakking away outside, but once she turned the music on (there was a music player in the room), it drowned the noise. I’m always skeptical when going for facials at a departmental store because of the noise, so thank goodness there was a music player in the room.
  • Peou locked the door before the facial began. I liked that very much because the room was quite isolated from the beauty counters and goodness knows who might barge into the room, even with the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on.
  • I had a regular facial: cleansing, toning, moisturising, facial mask, no blackheads extraction. In between I was also given a face, neck, shoulder, arm and hand massage.

Products Used
Biotherm Aquasource cleanser, toner and mask (green range, for oily/combination skin). Biotherm Skinergetic Anti-Fatigue Fresh Serum and moisturiser to finish.
Just before the facial was over, she sprayed some Eau Vitaminee Mist on me and massaged it on my skin. Lovely.

Verdict

  • To be honest, I was a little apprehensive of the facial before it began. As it was held at a departmental store, I wasn’t sure if I was going to fully enjoy it in case it got too noisy outside, which could disrupt a good facial.
  • Doubt was cast aside at the capable hands of Peou, who worked her magic on my face, neck, shoulders, arms and hands.
  • Her face massage was really good. It was definitely one of the best face massages I’ve had.
  • I fell asleep in the middle of her face massage. Also, I may or may not have snorted in the process. Ahem.
  • The facial took 45 minutes. Wished it was an hour though. Wouldn’t mind an extra 15 minutes of massage and bliss.

Hook me up!

  • Biotherm likes to keep their facials very special, and their therapist do travel from store to store, so the facials are held every 5-6 weeks in Melbourne.
  • The next facial event in MYER, Melbourne CBD is the week commencing 1 April 2012.
  • The therapist works from 10am to 5pm on Wednesdays, 10am to 8pm on Thursdays and Fridays, and 10am to 5pm on Saturdays.
  • There is a $65 booking fee, which is redeemable on 3 products.
  • To make a booking, please call (02) 9661 1246

Reading this reminded me of a Clarins facial I had in Jaya Jusco, it was so noisy with people walking around and yakking away =/ it had definitely spoilt the whole relaxing mood 🙁

Xin: I know what you mean. Beauty treatments at departmental stores are always touch-and-go because of the ambiance. I’ve had one at a Jurlique store at a train station where there are heaps of people going in and out. Even though it was a standalone store, I could still hear the noise outside 🙁

I think that’s why I liked this one. She locked the door, turned on the music, and I didn’t have to hear anything but sounds of wooshing water 😛

I really enjoy this type of review, and to be honest I had no idea Biotherm did these facials at the department stores! That is my thing learnt for the day;P The massages along with the facials sound lovely, and I like that it is redeemable on product that is wonderful!

Emma: Me neither. When I was at the counter, I thought “hang on, where’s the facial done? Is she going to bring me to some godawful dark corridor like you see in horror movies?” I did have to go through a dim corridor 😛

The idea of redeemable products is inviting, isn’t it? I’m definitely booking another session with them soon.
