Les Merveilleuses Laduree Pressed Cheek Color in No.11

I’ve been eyeing this blush (and a lot more) when news first came out that Laduree has launched a makeup line. There was so much publicity going on online and in Asian beauty magazines, plus the fact that it’s so bloody exclusive that you can only get it in Japan … well, that just made me want them more. I’m such a kid, I tell ya. Tell me I can’t get it, and I’ll try my darndest to acquire the item πŸ˜›

Lo and behold, the opportunity arose earlier in the year to get myself some Laduree makeup goodies. Mind you, they are expensive, so I decided on getting items I know I will wear on a regular basis, and that is blush.

You can just get the refill of the blushes if you like. I really liked the packaging so I went all out and bought both.

Today I’m going to show you a blush so red, so dark, that you’d think I was nuts to go for it in the first place. It’s the Pressed Cheek Color in No.11.

It’s wicked pigmented! Like most Japanese cosmetics, I expected the makeup to be sheer because they like the concept of layering. The cheek colour in #11 is just like a lot of the matte NARS blushes. It’s very pigmented, and I’d need a very light hand during application lest I end up with two red patches on my cheeks.

The included brush isn’t like the cheapie brushes you normally encounter in makeup palettes. The bristles are very soft and firmly packed. It’s definitely higher quality than the ones provided in Chanel and Dior palettes.

Is this a must have? Yes and no. Yes because it’s packaged so beautifully, it’s not easily available, it has a beautiful colour and if you are a makeup collector, this will be a lovely addition to your collection. No because it’s expensive for a blush and you can get matte blushes of similar quality from NARS.

And now for the price. In Japan, it costs Β₯3990 for refill (approx. AU$50) and Β₯1575 (approx. AU$20) for the case and brush. It’s also available on Imomoko.com, but at a whopping US$90. Even with the AU$20 difference, it’s not a cheap blush. Still, it’s a beautiful colour with very cute packaging; I’m glad I got this one πŸ™‚

Have you tried anything from Laduree’s makeup line? Do you think they are overhyped and overpriced? Do you still want them all the same? πŸ˜‰

OMG! The packaging is all it takes to make me go head over heels! Even if I don’t have to use them, they look pretty just sitting on my dressing table! Tee-hee! πŸ˜€

Charlotte: Haha I’ve already deflowered this, but yep it’s sitting on my dresser looking very pretty, making the rest of my makeup jealous πŸ˜›

Mmmm… so pretty! I love the colour on you Tine! Such a pretty flush on the cheeks! But maybe its just me, I don’t like the packaging. It looks flimsy (I’m sure its not) but it has a plastic look about it, and I didn’t like how theres that gap between the blush case and the outer case. For the price, I expect little details like this to be ironed out. I do like how Guerlain did their Blush Noir before, it looked solid and there were no gaps. But enough of the whinging – just nitpicking really πŸ˜‰

Paris B: Ah I know what you mean by the gap. I suppose it makes it easier for people to know that there’s something at the bottom of the case. Oh well, you know me and cameos. I’m a sucker for them (hence the logo for SCA :P).

Love it. I don’t care about the price, LADUREE > NARS any day for me.

Lina: Aww thanks Lina. Making me blush πŸ˜›

Will be reviewing the petal blush soon, so do stay tuned!

  5. Megan

That is so gorgeous, I don’t think I could ever bring myself to ruin that beautiful imprint. It looks amazing sheered out on your cheeks but at least you know this blush will last such a long time since it is so pigmented.

Megs: Oh yeah, this is going to last me a very looooong time. I can’t even brush the makeup brush across the powder because that action would pick up way too much pigment. All I can do is literally press the brush on the powder, and that’s enough πŸ˜›

Ladureeeeeeee!!! I haven’t gotten up the courage to deflower (pardon the pun) my rose petal blush yet, dammit. Been dying to get my hands on that egg case to store them, and so far it’s been futile!! >.<

PS: you're so right about the wanting what you can't get bit…

Laduree as in the Parisian macaroons???

How very quirky that the Parisian macaroon maker has dipped their hands into makeup!

I was in Paris just last month and I must say, out of all the macaroons I tried – Laduree, Aoki, Gerard Mulot, Pierre Hermes, the latter was the creme de la creme πŸ™‚

Cat: Aww man … now you made me crave for macarons πŸ™‚

  12. Beauty Box

I haven’t bought any for myself but I did get a lippie for a friend’s bday and it was GORGEOUS…I wanted one for myself haha…the slim wand applicator is to die for with the little charm that dangles at the end… However, I was sorely disappointed by the eyeshadow palettes. They are pricey but they feel very cheap and plasticky…moreover the pigmentation was not great at all…and there are no dividers between the shades…you’ll also be surprised how tiny the palette is so it would be easy to blur the lines b/w the shades if you get what I mean. The blushes look promising though…lotsa folks have been raving over them and this one looks lovely on you!

    1. Tine

Beauty Box: I’ve not seen the eyeshadow palettes, but from the photos I’ve seen, I have to agree with you there. In terms of packaging, I expected a lot more from Laduree, especially with what they’ve done to the gorgeous petal blush. Can I guess that the pigments of the eyeshadows are probably like Jill Stuart’s eyeshadow palettes? Very sheer?

WHOA, that packaging! *____* If not for the price, I’d probably be digging around for one online right now.

Esther: The packaging is beautiful, isn’t it? I sure am a sucker for it. Unfortunately the price only allowed me to buy one πŸ˜›
