The Oil with the Midas Touch: NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil

I’ve heard a lot of good things about this oil prior to giving it a go. Okay, maybe not so much the oil but I did read about the gorgeous NUXE spa in Paris. And that they use the Huile Prodigieuse in their massages. Mmm …

Right, back to the oil. I was kindly given a bottle of the gold oil during the Beauty Blogger’s Utopia in September. I’m usually a bit meh when it comes to body oils, which was what I thought this was in the beginning. It was only after the introduction to the oil that I found out, you can actually use this on your face and hair as well.

Given that I’m not usually a huge fan of skin oils, how did this one fare?

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil

Description:
In a single gesture, Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil, nourishes, repairs, softens the skin and reduces stretch marks thanks to its unique ultra-concentrated composition of 6 Precious Plant Oils (Macadamia, Hazelnut, Borage, Sweet Almond, Camellia and St John’s Wort).
Enriched with Vitamin E and free of silicones, preservatives and mineral oils, the dry oil is easily absorbed leaving the skin soft and silky in a single step, and the hair shiny and deliciously fragranced.
Thanks to its non-photosensitizing fragrance, Huile Prodigieuse can be used all year around.

I have to admit though, that I did not use this on my face. As much as possible, I prefer leaving oils to my body instead.

Straight up, this is good shizz.

The packaging is a beautiful one. The golden oil is encased in a sleek glass bottle with a plastic stopper. The stopper has a small hole that makes it difficult for the oil to over-dispense. It controls the amount of oil that leaves the bottle rather than just allowing it to spill. It’s just my kind of packaging for any oil products.

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil

The words “dry oil” seem like an oxymoron but to an extend, they are right. When the oil is spread on the skin, it “dries up” very quickly. It doesn’t leave any greasy residue on your fingers after application. There’s a subtle, beautiful sheen on the skin that looks great on the legs for summer without looking like I’m oiling up for a BBQ.

As a hair oil, it’s similar to L’Oreal’s Mythic Oil. It’s much lighter than the Mythic or Extraordinary Oil and while it leaves a glossy shine to the hair, it doesn’t really do much else to condition it.

Less than 10 seconds after application

Personally, this works best as a body oil. I don’t find it hydrating enough for the colder months (not on my dry skin), but in the warmer months, this works a treat. It’s not heavy on my skin at all and if you’re rushing for time, it absorbs almost immediately, giving you extra time to do other things.

The only thing I’m not terribly keen on is the scent. It has a rather strong aroma of jasmine that I’m not usually a fan of. Other than that, big love for this luxurious oil. If anything else, it looks damn good on my dresser. 😉

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil retails at $24.95 for 50ml ($39.95 for 100ml) and is available on Adore Beauty. It also comes in a dry golden oil that leaves soft, powdered golden flecks on your skin. I’m so game on trying this one next!

What I like about it: Luxurious body oil, classy packaging, the oil absorbs very quickly and leaves no oily residue on the skin

What I do not like about it: The scent is not my cup of tea

Have you tried the NUXE oil before? Yay or nay?

The scent is the main reason why I’m using this stuff 😛 I use it on my hair, body and face. But, it is not moisturizing enough (ok, dry oil … I know). I adore the scent but my skin ph is handling such scents very well in general and it lingers into something really calming on me. My friend isn’t a fan either (scent) but is always asking what perfume I am wearing (well, NUXE, lol).

Hahaha hey it’s good that you like the scent! You’ll definitely enjoy it a lot more when the fragrance is right up your alley. I don’t find it moisturising enough too, but for the hot weather, yeah it’ll work 😉

definitely a YAY! i recently discovered this on a desperate search of face oil to treat my dry flaky spots on the nose. i brought it with me for a 3 days vacation and used it on my hair, face and body because i didn’t want to lug around additional hair conditioner and body lotion. now i just used it as my last step of skincare at night to seal in the goodness and i wake up to smooth, reasonably clear skin every morning =)

i was shocked by the scent because i wasn’t used to smelling such strong scent. but i’m willing to overlook that because of the benefits. woohoo!

That’s great that it works so well for you. Haha I know what you mean by powering through strong-smelling products. I’ve done that plenty of times too. There’s one serum I used to use that smelled like fermented eggs which was FOUL. But the serum was really good so I sucked it up and powered through 😛

Do give it a go. It’s quite an interesting oil, as in it dries up very very quickly with not a hint of oily residue on the skin. Good stuff 🙂

Love this oil and the smell too luckily. They have brought out a perfume too apparently. I’ve also got the lip balm that comes in a little pot. Nice stuff.

I have hormonal acne prone, sensitive skin and have no problems using this on my face. I sometimes also mix a drop with my moisturiser if I don’t want to put the oil straight on my face. Good to mix a drop with foundation or my super thick Dr Jarts silver bb cream. Can’t blend that stuff without adding something!

That’s a great idea Jackie, on mixing it with moisturiser. I definitely can’t put it directly on my face but mixing it with moisturiser? Genius. Thanks for the tip! 🙂
