For those of you who follow me on Twitter already know this because SOMEONE (yes, I’m looking at you, L’Oreal!) upped and spoiled my surprise! Okay okay it was my bad for not spilling the juice earlier in the week when I should (I’ll never make it as one of ’em news-breaking journalists, so there), so let’s all pretend you don’t know nothin’ and act surprised, k? 😛

How It Started

On New Year’s Eve in 2012, when Tim and I were sharing new year’s resolutions with each other (I shared, he scoffed at the idea of making resolutions), I told him I wanted to do something big for the blog in 2013. I wanted to move out of my blogging comfort zone. On a whim, I told him I wanted to cover one of the fashion shows in Australia. Preferably the Loreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF), since I already am in Melbourne anyway. He told me to go for it.

Man, I was gung-ho. I started to write proposals and stuff, something I’ve never done before. I was just about to send my proposal to L’Oreal on why I could be a suitable candidate to help cover the LMFF when the very next day, I received an invitation from L’Oreal to be one of their official bloggers for the LMFF!

The universe heard me! I kid you not, I did this.

After doing the dance, my next thought was “what the heck am I going to wear?!“. I know my priorities. 😉

I’ve been keeping this secret for over a month and let me tell you, it was bloody torture. I wanted to shout from the rooftops OMGTHEYPICKEDMETHEYPICKEDMEICANDIEHAPPYNOW!! But being the classy lady that I am (ahem), I only told a few close friends who were very happy for me. And now, I can officially tell you that Beautyholics Anonymous is proud to be one of L’Oreal Paris’ official bloggers for the LMFF 2013! 😀

Disclosure, Disclosure

In the interest of full disclosure, this is not a sponsored gig. I’m not paid for the week I’ll be covering the events. I’ll be provided accommodation in the city where the events will be held but that’s it. Does it bother me? Honestly? Monetary compensation hadn’t even entered my mind. It’s a huge honour to be selected and to be the only beauty blogger amongst 4 top fashion bloggers who will be covering the fashion week for L’Oreal. It’s money-can’t-buy experience.

What’s In It For You?

So, what does this mean for you? Now, since Beautyholics Anonymous is not a fashion blog (what can I say, I’m a Target kinda gal), I made it clear to L’Oreal that I shan’t be covering the fashion-y bits of the week. Which I know is weird because it IS fashion week after all!

What I will be doing is bring you the makeup looks. The trends, the colours, hair, nails, makeup, the works. I’ll be showing you the gorgeous makeup on runway and how they can be worked on “real way” (IRL, or In Real Life for you and I). I’ve seen some of the mock-ups. Holy crap, they’re beautiful. They’ll also be competitions and giveaways for you, dear readers. Heck, if I’m getting something, YOU are getting something too!

Since it’s my very first time to fashion week (right, why did they choose me again? No wait, don’t answer that), I’ll be writing about my experience at the events. Who I saw, who I rubbed shoulders with (ahem ahem) and who I stalked (I’m good at this. I stalked bloggers at the Problogger Event last year and they didn’t even know).

To be honest, as excited as I am about the gig, I’m nervous. In fact, I’m scared shitless. I’ve never been to fashion week before and I’ve definitely never done this before. I’m no Garance. I’ll be completely out of my element, doing something I’ve never done before. Still, it’s going to be a very exciting and incredible experience, so bring. It. On.

A sneak peek at Megan Gale’s looks from the LMFF campaign. She’s the first Australian brand ambassador for L’Oreal Paris. I had a big girlie crush on this woman ever since I saw her on TV 4 years ago. I want her brows.

Season Predictions

Now that I’ve rambled on for an hour about how excited I am to be part of the LMFF (thanks for reading this far), let’s talk about this season’s makeup predictions. Now I’m pretty damn clueless about trends so do forgive me if I get this wrong.

I’ve been studying past years’ and seasons’ makeup styles, and I say, it’s going to be back to basics this season. By basics I mean thick full brows that frame the eyes and sultry nude lips. Pencil-thin brows and dark, burgundy lips are so last season, darling. At least, these are what I hope to see this season.
