ck one Color 3-in-1 Face Makeup with SPF 8 Sunscreen: Thank Heavens You Don’t Smell Like The Perfume!

At the mention of ck one, it brings back lots of memories of my secondary school days. Days of students crowding at morning assemblies in a waft of ck one perfume. When I was 16, it seemed as though the very “in” thing was to go to school doused in ck one perfume. Heck even the teachers wore it. Truth be told, I absolutely abhorred the scent. It smells all right on one person but when at least 10 students per class wears the same strong fragrance, including the teachers, it’s like getting hit with the generous spraying of mosquito repellent.

ck one Perfume

So when I found out that ck one launched a makeup line called ck one Color, my first thought was “oh no, not again! Please don’t let it smell like the perfume. Please!“. Thank goodness none of the makeup smells like that. 😛

Last year, I had the opportunity to play with some items from the makeup range. Today, I’d like to tell you what I think of the foundation – the ck one 3-in-1 Face Makeup with SPF 8 Sunscreen.

I was half expecting the makeup bottles to look like the ubiquituous ck perfumes (flat glass bottle with a bottle neck). ck one makeup have black and white theme. A lot of their packaging is white glossy plastic on top with black matte plastic at the bottom. The same goes with the foundation. I thought the packaging of the foundation was quite cute. 🙂

The texture of the foundation is a light, oil-free liquid that spreads very easily on the skin. The shade I have is #200 Fair and has yellow undertones that suits my warm skintone well. It also has a subtle floral fragrance, which you can’t really detect unless you hold the foundation right to your nose. As long as it doesn’t smell as strong as the original ck one perfume, hell I’m sold.

The foundation’s coverage is medium and decent in evening out my skin tone. It covers the redness around my nose and then some without looking cakey and unnatural. It has a semi dewy finish that looks good on the skin. In terms of longevity, I’ve had this on at least 6 hours and most of the foundation was still there. It looks better on the skin after an hour or two but does start to fade after the 6th hour mark. It doesn’t leave drag marks around the creases of the skin (e.g. nasolabial lines) when it does fade off like some foundations do.

For some reason, this foundation reminded me very much of MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid. The texture reminded me of that MAC foundation I used for about 2 years before discovering other foundations. It has SPF 8 but really, that’s almost neglible considering the fact that most BB creams and foundations that contain SPF have at least an SPF of 15. So even with the minute SPF 8, I highly recommend that you still wear a separate sunscreen under the foundation.

ck One Color 3-in-1 Face Makeup with SPF 8 Sunscreen Before and After

Is this something I’d purchase once I’ve run out? Hmm … I don’t know. Aside from the many BB creams and foundations I already have, this foundation is good but it’s not great. It’s a decent enough foundation to use on hot summer days. I would love for ck one to either increase the SPF or drop it altogether because the tiny SPF 8 is just a bit of a laugh. It’s just not enough sun protection in my books.

ck one 3-in-1 Face Makeup with SPF 8 Sunscreen retails at $55 for 30ml and is available at MYER.

What I like about it: Oil-free, looks good on the skin after an hour

What I do not like about it: Starts to fade after 6 hours, low SPF

Have you used any makeup by ck one before? More importantly, did you use the ck one perfume in your school days? 😛

Even the teachers, haha that is hilarious! I wonder how many other people had the same “oh no, not the smell!” reaction 🙂

I didn’t use the CK one, but I have so many memories from the Hugo Boss fragrance. God that takes me back!

It looks lovely and fresh on your skin, really lovely infact. Thanks for sharing!

I don’t know what the obsession amongst the students and teachers with the ck one perfume. Some doused the perfume on themselves like how one would use a mosquito spray. Every time some one walked past me in school, I was in their waft of “air”. It was painful! 😛

Oooh I remember the Hugo Boss fragrance. That became popular amongst my colleagues. Almost every guy smelled the same. Hahahaha!

I still rememeber the ‘old’ days, where CK had their makeup line. It was pretty bad I think, not worth the money. When I heard, that they are revamping the line I was a bit sceptical. The packaging is not what I would call ‘my favourite’ but they seem to have some very nice colours in that range now. I still haven’t tried them … nor even swatched D: The foundation looks pretty good though! I haven’t used that perfume in my school days 😀

I know what you mean! I’ve seen ck makeup sold at pharmacies, but they were much cheaper looking and the quality was rather shite. They were something you got from the discount bin or something. When I first saw the launch of ck one makeup, I thought they were the same thing (apparently not). Anyway they have proper counters at departmental stores now so no more cheapies? 😛

Thanks Issa. It’s actually not a bad foundation at all. ck one finally impressed me with something other than the perfume 😛

Oooh! I think I remember those “ck days”! Hahahha.. I don’t remember how they smell though.. This foundation seems a bit meh for $55 to be honest… But it does look good for evening out the skin! And I totally agree with you Tine! What’s up with the SPF8?!?!?!

Hahaha I know, right? When I saw the SPF8, I was like “and your point is?”. Can’t call it foundation with sunscreen when it’s only SPF8, people!

Mine has to be Cacharel Lou Lou, not easy to find this perfume anymore .. I like what the foundation does to your skin but NAY on the low spf for such a pricey tag
