Last week, I recreated one of the looks from Megan Gale’s LMFF 2013 campaign. It played a lot on the eyes; lots of grey, heaps of navy blue eyeliner, purple under the eye and yellow around the inner corners. Colours were emphasised on the eyes and the lips were left quite neutral with a rosy pink.

Today’s look recreation is going to be the opposite. In Autumn Siren, we are underplaying the eys but completely vamping out the lips. This is my favourite look so far because oh, the lips! The lips!

Again, most of the makeup were provided by L’Oreal for editorial consideration. I didn’t have most of what was in Megan’s face chart so I had to improvise with what I have (the L’Oreal ones I used not in the face chart were also kindly provided by L’Oreal many months ago). The only other makeup I used (these are mine) for the look is the THREE Flash Performance Eyeliner and Maybelline’s Jelly Glow Blush Studio.

For the eyes, Rae Morris kept it very simple for Megan and used the L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Les Ombres in E1 Timeless Beige. Sadly, I wasn’t impressed with this eyeshadow palette. I found it very gritty and too glittery for my taste. The grey shade was okay but the rest were meh. Most of the eyeshadow wouldn’t adhere on my eyelids; the eyeshadow fell off and landed below my eyes. Boo.

I kept the eyes very simple too and followed the instructions on the back of the palette. A simple base of nude on the eyelids and the grey on the outer corners of the eyes for a bit of definition. I used the THREE eyepencil on the upper waterline to further define the eyes before adding the mascara.

The best part of the look (at least, for me) is the lips. The lip colour is incredibly vibrant and just jazzes the whole look up. It doesn’t matter that the eye makeup is so basic (and quite frankly, bland) because the lip colour just picks everything up and then some. I haven’t worn anything this rich and vibrant in a while and oh, how I’ve missed it!

If I can recommend one thing you get from this look is to get the lipstick. The Colour Riche in Intense Plum is just beautiful. It’s rich, it’s moisturising, it’s highly pigmented (it stained my lips; I couldn’t remove the stain without makeup remover) and it’s lasting. Very va-va-voom!

I hope you like the look. Again, you don’t have to just use L’Oreal products to recreate this. You can use what you have in your arsenal (but really, check out the lipstick. It’s gorgeous). It’s the kind of look where you don’t actually even need to do up the eyes at all (other than lashings of mascara). It’s the crap-I’m-late-no-time-for-makeup look that can be completely changed by just adding a very bold lip. Plus if you wear glasses, I think it looks incredibly sexy. 😉

The bright lip colour looks intimidating at first, and yes, you do have to be careful you don’t get lipstick on your teeth. But other than that, I’m sure you can pull it off. Just watch out for the incoming compliments! 😀
