Rudiments of Rouge: My Blush Collection

Rudiments of Rouge

Welcome to the 7th and final episode of the Rudiments of Rouge! I hope you’ve enjoyed this series and have found it helpful, especially if you’re new to blush. I haven’t had this much fun and ease writing beauty posts in quite some time now. I guess when you’re passionate about the subject, the words just flow out of the mouth (or in my case, out my fingers!). πŸ™‚

Since today’s the final installment, let’s make it light and fun. I’ve received requests to show my entire blush collection and I thought oh why not? Over the years I’ve managed to acquire quite a lot of blushes so if the amount below scares you, it’s not something I purchased in a short period of time. I have more blushes than I do lip products, base makeup and eyeshadows. It’s a passion of mine and from the looks of the stash below, it’s a growing one. πŸ˜›

Rudiments of Rouge: My Blush Collection

Here’s a bit of blush p0rn for you. Most are powder blushes, some creams and are from drugstore to high-end. After taking all these pictures, I realised I forgot to add some in, so, err, these will have to do for now. πŸ˜›

Oh my…that’s a lot! I understand how easy it can be to keep buying blush. I am facing the same problem now. It’s always the ‘oh I suppose I can pick up a blush’ moment heh!

Hahaha it is! Every time a new collection comes out from any brand, the first thing I look at is the blush. If they don’t have any, chances are I’ll overlook the collection altogether πŸ˜›

Oooohhhhh!!!! The one in little heart shapes one is so cute! I am pretty sure my kids will mistaken it for candy!! πŸ˜› Now how do you organize your blush stash? :p

    1. Tine

Thanks Ting! I have a separate drawer just for my blushes alone. Yikes! πŸ˜›

TINE!!!! Your blush collection, wow! Good job! πŸ™‚

I’ve never really been a blush girl until recently, so I am catching up with your blush series. πŸ™‚ I have the all-famous Orgasm from NARS but I don’t really use it that often!

I have been getting into Benefit blushes, recently though. Do you like them? I used Dallas in college a few years ago and LOVED it, but no idea why I stopped using it. This past month or two I’ve tried their Hoola bronzer, and last night, their Danelion blush, which is fantastic. I’d definitely recommend them, if, er, you plan to expand your collection. πŸ˜‰

Hee hee, thanks Renee! I’ve tried a number of Benefit box o blushes. So far, the one I like the most is the Bella Bamba. I gave my Dandelion and Georgia away ‘cos they just didn’t work for me. I’ve not tried the Hoola; then again, I don’t use bronzer all that much. Hmm I might just give it a go now since it’s such a hit πŸ™‚

Oh this collection will definitely be expanded, that’s for sure πŸ˜‰

  5. Paris B

Woah!! Love the pictures! I was looking through and thinking yep, yep! That’s a good one so it looks like we both have good taste in blushes hehe… πŸ˜‰

    1. Tine

Thanks Sataa. So many blushes, two cheeks. Oh wait, FOUR cheeks, if I’m being cheeky.

      Ouch! πŸ˜›

  9. Victoria

Love your collection! Whenever I need to drool over blushes, I will know which blog to go to. Hahahaha. I think you have blushes from most major brands. No MAC or Bobbi Brown?

Anyway, thanks for the series. It is really helpful to a newbie like me and I have certainly enjoy it every bit as a reader as you have enjoyed it as the creator πŸ™‚

    1. Tine

Thanks Victoria. Hahaha quite obvious that I barely have any blushes from MAC, right? I’m not a big fan of the brand, not because the products are lousy (they’re not) but the poor service I receive every time I’m at a MAC counter just puts me off buying their stuff. I find this a real pity because poor service is driving people away from what are potentially great products. Two times, three times of poor service is bad enough but every. Single. Time. I can’t do it.

As for Bobbi Brown, hmm I don’t know why I don’t have any blushes from that brand. I’m not a fan of the shimmer bricks but hmm why haven’t I tried any of their blushes?? I wanted to buy some once but because they were quite expensive (still are) in Australia, I thought I’d buy them in Malaysia instead. And then I forgot about them. Whoops πŸ˜› Which is silly because I bought Tom Ford, which is so much more expensive. I’m a strange one, I am πŸ˜›

Haha thanks! Nope, no such thing as too much. At least, that’s the case of blush for me. Kekekeke!

  15. Jennifer

Haha, that’s a great stash enough to make any of us blush πŸ˜‰ I am still treading on careful waters when it comes to blushes purchase because I can’t seem to get over my acne moon crater face. But yes, you and PB are both my adored Blush Queens!

    1. Tine

Aww thanks Jennifer! I still take my hat off to PB the Blush Queen! πŸ˜›

For acne-prone skin, tone the redness down with foundation/BB cream (if you can find a primer for redness with green tones, even better). Use cream blush instead of powder to avoid any cakey appearance on the skin. Good luck! πŸ™‚

  16. Fei

Hi Tine, I’ve been following your blog for some time and love your blog posts. I have to say the Rudiments of Rouge series is my all-time favourite blog posts ever. I didn’t care much about blushes till I read your posts, then I started experimenting with a few blushes I got from GWPs…and now I’m building a blush collection too. Look what you’ve done! ;-p

By the way you have to try Sleek blushes, gorgeous colours, super pigmented yet so affordable.

    1. Tine

Aww thanks Fei! So glad you enjoy the series! And with that, I’ve done my job as an enabler *takes a bow* πŸ˜›

Would you believe it, I still have yet to try out Sleek blushes. What sort of travesty is this??
