Bloggie Wednesdays: Beautyholics Anonymous Reader Survey 2013 Results. The Readers (That’s You) Have Spoken!

Beautyholics Anonymous Reader Survey 2013

Happy hump day, fellow beautyholics!

First of all, I just wanted to thank you for taking the time out to fill in the Reader Survey I posted a couple of weeks ago. I’ve had very good response and feedback from you and I can’t be happier. I’m definitely taking all of your feedback (positive and negative) into consideration when I’m planning my future editorial content.

Since you’ve helped me out with the survey, I thought I’d show you the results I got to see how the blog fared. I tell ya, it’s great excuse for me to whip out the ol’ Excel and nerd out on pie charts because I sure haven’t done those in a while. 😛

1. Are you male/female?

2. What country do you live in?

3. What is your age?

4. How did you find Beautyholics Anonymous?

5. How often do you read Beautyholics Anonymous?

6. Have you made any purchases on products that were recommended on Beautyholics Anonymous?

7. How many posts a week would you like to read?

8. What are your thoughts on sponsored content on Beautyholics Anonymous?

Blog reader survey: sponsored posts

Thank you so much for your feedback. I’m actually very glad that a majority of you prefer 4-5 posts a week on the blog instead of daily posts. It certainly takes the pressure of blogging daily, which helps me greatly in creating better content for you (less is more, that kinda thing :)). I was also taken aback by how positive most of you are about sponsored content on the blog. To tell you the truth, I wasn’t 100% sure if you’ll be all right with it, which is why I seldom do it. Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean I’ll be shoving sponsored content down your throat from now on. There’ll still be very careful selection. If it doesn’t work for you and I, it doesn’t work for the blog. But it’s good to know you’re okay with it. 🙂

I’ve also gotten some feedback about my favourite series, Bloggie Wednesdays. Now I know this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea given that not all you dear readers are bloggers. I didn’t add this as an option in the survey but I’d like to know if this is still something you like to read weekly or if it’s too much, perhaps bi-weekly or monthly? Please let me know in the comments below.

Per your feedback, there will be some series that I’ll be cutting down and some that I’ll be increasing so it’ll be interesting to see how that goes. Changes won’t happen overnight though but it will come soon. I’m also glad to know I’ve helped you shopped. Mission accomplished! 😛

As for the winner of the Kinki Gerlinki satchel, hop on over to the Competition/Giveaway Winners page to find out! Congratulations to the winner. I’ll post the bag to you as soon as I can.

Thanks again and I look forward to next year’s reader survey. Hopefully there’ll be bigger things to come!

Please please please keep Bloggie Weds – I LOVE it – I don’t currently have my own blog (although reading blogs such as yours really inspires me to get off my butt and give it a go!), but it just gives such an interesting insight into the background and behind the scenes that the geek in me loves (and is WAAAYYYY more interesting than geeky IT blogs that are generally written for guys and have waaaaay too many references to sports and things in lol). So a HUGE thumbs up from me and please keep them coming 😀

Thanks Hilary. I’m so glad to know you enjoy Bloggie Wednesdays even though you don’t blog. But really, go for it! Start that blog of yours 😀

  2. Shamim de Varax

as a fellow blogger i know how hard it is to keep churning out posts! but there’s also nothing i love better than to log in each morning and catch up on blogs as I eat brekky haha. so a few posts a week sounds good to me!

    1. Tine

      Hahaha thanks Shamim! 🙂

Aiks? I love Bloggie Wednesdays! It’s my favorite read 😉
Good to know that most of your readers prefer 4-5 posts a week. I notice lately that a post a day is too much for readers especially those that are very busy with work. Some of them told me that they only read on weekends. So there’s 7 article for them to catch up hehe 😀

I wasn’t sure but I’m glad I checked with you guys on how many posts is optimum for y’all. I get unsubscription notices with both reasons of “too little updates” AND “too many updates”! No wonder I was confused 😛

Do keep Bloggie Wednesdays but understand if you feel the need to cut down. You’ve been doing this for so long once a week! It’s amazing how you always find something interesting or useful to talk about.

Thanks Yu Ming! I do admit, it’s not easy coming up with topics for Bloggie Wednesdays sometimes. There are times when I get the inspiration to write many different topics but there are many more times when I’m just stumped. Do I want to write something very basic which people won’t find useful or do I write about topics that are a lot more technical, which in the end might confuse readers? It’s a headscratcher, that one. Initially I thought of breaking Bloggie Wednesdays out of the blog and have it as a separate blog but I don’t think I’ll be able to sustain it because I won’t have that much topics to write about on a regular basis! Still, it’s an idea I’m toying with. It’s not shelved away yet 🙂

I definitely love reading the weekly Bloggie Wednesdays, they’re so interesting. Please keep it up! 🙂

Ok I’m going to buck the trend and ask for fortnightly Bloggie Wednesdays 🙂 My reason is thus – BA is primarily a beauty blog and techie stuff, whilst interesting, takes a little while to digest as opposed to beauty stuff which slips through our consciousness more quickly. So, I usually like to take a little while to think techie things through and if I don’t take that time, and it’s bumped off my consciousness by a beauty post the next day, I tend to forget about it. But don’t mind me – do whatever makes you happier doing 🙂

I’m with PB. I love how informative your Bloggie Wednesdays are (you’ve got so much knowledge and I’m super thankful you share it with your readers), but I tend to get distracted by the next beauty post and the pretty pictures. 😛

Thanks Peebs. I know what you mean and believe me, I’ve thought of branching out to another blog with bloggie tips for many times now. I love writing about it but sadly, I don’t have that much juice to keep another blog with consistent content. Heck, see my poor, defunct personal blog!

But it kinda looks like the public has spoken but I don’t know. It would definitely be a lot easier for me if BW was done fortnightly instead of weekly. As we always say it …. “see how lah!” 😛

      1. Paris B

I have thought about the blog tips blog too but you know, it’s gonna be hard to “fight” with the pros out there so I do mine on a monthly basis or whenever I get hit by an idea, simply to let off steam. Sharing a tip is a good way of ticking others off. Subtly of course hehe… 😉 Go with your gut. I think fortnightly BW posts are plenty!

I love Bloggie Wednesdays! But obviously as a blogger I have a little bias 😉 I just think it’s easy not to read a post you’re not interested in, and as long as you have readers still interested, it is worth posting! And your other posts are certainly not receiving any less attention from you because of it! I enjoy such a resource and love that you do keep it up weekly! x

Thanks for your feedback and kind words, Rachel. Lots of positive response on keeping Bloggie Wednesdays, that’s for sure. So it’s definitely staying. 😉

  8. Victoria

As a reader, I do like Bloggie Wednesdays but I think it is best to do it fortnightly as some of the posts are too technical for me. I find myself running through it more quicker than normal just to get to the end as I do not really understand certain terms. But I know how helpful it has been to many fellow bloggers. So, since I read your blog often anyway, I really do not mind it either way 🙂

    1. Tine

No worries V. Understand that Bloggie Wednesdays don’t appeal to everyone but I’m glad you’re okay with it 🙂 x

  9. Allison

I feel selfish saying this but I LOVE Bloggie Wednesdays & they’ve been sooo helpful to me. Some weeks I’m waiting for Wednesday to ask a question!

Thanks for posting the results Tine. I do hope you’ll keep Bloggie Wednesdays 🙂

    1. Tine

It was my pleasure, Sunshine. I’m happy you guys helped me out with the survey 🙂 x

  12. Lisa

Great results from your survey Tine! I love Bloggie Wednesdays as I blog but could handle fortnightly instead of every week posts. So selfish us bloggers!! Another blogger I know does two posts in her blogging about blogging posts (one for the bloggers & one for the readers)but might be a bit much for you! Just do what works for you Tine x

  13. Swati

i think one blogspot per week is fine but may be you can reduce your own load by doing once in two weeks!! that also works out well 🙂
Swati recently posted..Its Just Life Vol. 1 – Are you really happy? My Profile

    1. Tine

Thanks Swati. I haven’t decided yet on whether to keep Bloggie Wednesdays weekly or fortnightly yet. Readers’ choice is definitely not to get rid of it so there’s no way I’m doing that! 😛
