Bloggie Wednesdays: When Twitter Didn’t Exist

Happy hump day, folks! How’s your week going so far? Are you like me, suffering from Mondayitis, Tuesdayitis, every-weekday-itis too? 😛

The past few Bloggie Wednesdays have been serious topics and while I enjoy writing how-tos to help make your blog a better one, my brain is quite fried this week. So I thought I’d write something fun instead.

Remember a time when Twitter didn’t exist? 😛

People wouldn’t know what you ate, what you wore, what you did, etc.

If I didn’t tweet what I ate, what I wore, what I did … did they really happen?

Ranting has to be done in front of people you know, not strangers.

You have to keep your opinions to yourself.

It stinks when there’s no one to listen to you talk.

Virtual arguments and even fights become more interesting to watch than Gossip Girl.

You wouldn’t be able to actually talk to your favourite celebrity (not that they reply, but hey, at least they get to see it. Fan letters sure have come a long way)

You would need to rely on the news on TV/newspapers to find out what the breaking news are.

You wouldn’t have your questions answered that quickly (Twitter’s become the new Google).

Customer service would still be that long hold of a phone call with godawful music (I’m looking at you, AGL)

You wouldn’t get to know that many people.

You wouldn’t learn to love so many strangers (and subsequently dislike those you “friend” on Facebook).

You wouldn’t believe that communities can be built and nurtured in just 140 characters.

Uh huh, guilty, guilty and guilty as charged. There’s a reason why I love Twitter that much. 😉

What say you? How has Twitter changed your life? 😀

Bloggie Wednesdays is a series of articles just on blogging. They contain tips, how-tos, discussions about anything and everything you need to know about blogging and how we can be better bloggers. Twitter is ok for quick info, but I seem to like Facebook a bit better .. although, I do dislike folks that continually post motivational/inspirational/political stuff .. lol. I think those people have way too much time on their hands.

Me neither, although I do admit I post an inspirational quote once a month or something 😛 When the Malaysian election was on, I couldn’t go on Facebook at all because my timeline was inundated with political messages.

I was coming home from a business trip the night of a big basketball game that I had been watching on the plane. The game was either tied or close when I headed for the luggage carousel. I “heard” the rest of the game via live tweets, and it was awesome!

Hahaha I know what you mean! I follow media launches on Twitter, especially for the ones I couldn’t attend. At least I get to see the new products too. The one thing I cannot stand on Twitter though is people posting spoilers of movies or TV shows. WHY?!

I CAN’T get the hang of Twitter 🙁
Everytime I post something I feel so awkward… I prefer Facebook. I feel like I’m talking to nobody, and since I don’t have many ‘friends’ on twitter, it’s pretty weird just saying “oh I did this, I did that…” it’s really unnatural to me! xD
I wish it wasn’t this way because everyone that blogs uses twitter, and everyone says that you should use twitter to promote your blog, and engage with people, but it’s just SO WEIRD! lol 😛

The thing with Twitter is that it’s often very quick and candid. If people are on the same page as you at the same time, you can get a lot of engagement. If not, then you get nothing. I’ve experimented with Twitter and Facebook and I say both have their benefits. It doesn’t mean that Twitter must be better. I say stick to whatever works for you 🙂

I love twitter more than Facebook or other social media actually. I love the simple function that twitter got !

Hahaha hello fellow Twitter addict! 😉

Great post. It took me some time to embrace Twitter, but now that I have I really see what I’ve been missing! It’s incredibly interactive, and it’s ability to make you feel connected to others is remarkable. Sometimes it’s difficult to keep up, but those are the times that seem to be the best for me to take a break, then after a bit I’m ready for more 🙂

I agree, I sometimes find Twitter difficult to keep up too. Sometimes I find myself going through 800 unread tweets and I’m like … okay, just scroll all the way to the top and start again 😛
