Hello Hello From My Hometown Penang!

Hello fellow beautyholics!

Greetings from Penang, Malaysia! I’m writing to you in my parents’ home while I’m drenched in sweat from the heat, humidity and playing with their new pup, Oscar. I don’t often get to sweat like this in Australia, especially not in the colder months so as disgusting and filthy as I’m feeling now, it also feels pretty damn good to sweat it out.

I thought I’d give you a bit of an update of what’s been going on here. So far, it’s been days of eating, eating, a bit of shopping and more eating. I’m putting on even more winter weight in a tropical country! ๐Ÿ˜›

So here’s what’s been happening so far:

  • Ate like I haven’t eaten in days.
  • Oscar the pup is cute and terribly clever but loves to jump. So far, he has created a hole in my new exercise tights and has jumped high enough to kiss me on my nose. Twice.
  • Driving in Penang gets scarier every day.

Sasa Beauty Haul

  • Did a bit of shopping with Mum and bought 3 bottles of sunscreen, a Shu Uemura retractable eyebrow pencil that Xiao raved and packets of tissues (the things I bring back from Malaysia will astound you). Oh, and a pair of shoes because…why not? ๐Ÿ˜›
  • Went for a session of foot reflexology which will henceforth be known as โ€œtorture for informationโ€ hour. I’m surprised I could walk after that. Whatever she pressed, I bet my liver works fantastic now.
  • Met up with my dear girlfriends. It stinks that I only see them once a year.
  • Had my matron-of-honour dress shortened because it was helping the city sweep the floor.
  • Ate like I haven’t eaten in days.

That’s about it for my week in Penang. It was really good to see family again for I’ve missed them terribly (by the way, if you’re in Penang and you hear really loud laughing, chances are it could be us :P).

I’ll be leaving for KL this Saturday where I’ll rendezvous with Beetrice and LeGeeque who also flew to Malaysia for Beeโ€™s wedding. I’ll be staying in wedding central and it’ll be wedding mode from then on till the wedding. Hopefully I’ll be able to blog then as well and show you what shenanigans we three girls get up to. ๐Ÿ™‚

Till then, I’ll smell you later!

PS: I blogged this entry on my phone. It’s actually easier than using the iPad!

Okay, what I did was I typed the post out on the iPad, emailed the text to myself, accessed it via my phone and then posted the article using the mobile Wordpress app. Looks like a lot of work but it’s actually a lot easier than using the iPad alone because the photos I used for the post were taken with my phone. The mobile app is also easier to use .

Haha thanks and now I’m back in Melb! Driving is scary indeed but other than that one incident of stressed out night driving, I thought I handled the rest pretty okay. Even with the motorcycles weaving in and out ๐Ÿ˜›

Hi Tine! I’m from Penang too! Thanks for sharing bits of your vacation in Penang! Hmm…you can’t escape from eating and same goes to me every time I go back to Penang. And I do agree with you, Penang’s traffic is scary and lots of courageous and patience needed when you drive! Till then , enjoy your vacation and take care Tine! Hope to hear from you soon!

    1. Tine

Thanks Michelle! Now that I’m back from the holiday, I find myself missing Penang again. My family, friends and all that glorious food! ๐Ÿ˜›

Tine, I still remember how I spent time with the Penang food oh can’t get enough of those food! Enjoy your good time in Penang and look forward to see your post about the wedding. One more thing, please share the application you use to post from your mobile. Thx ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Tine

Hi Lanovia, here’s what I did:
      1. Type the post out on my iPad. It’s quicker and easier anyway.
      2. Email the post to myself.
      3. From the phone, I copied and pasted the text onto the app. I used the Wordpress mobile app. Added the pictures and just clicked on Publish.

Looks like double work but it’s actually a lot easier this way, to type the text out using the iPad first and then publish with my phone as I’m using the photos from my phone anyway.

Penang laksa…! Char Koay teow!! The green jelly dessert in coconut and palm sugar syrup… Oooooo I am starving! ๐Ÿ™‚

Have fun and enjoy shopping! But… I just have to ask… Why tissues? :p

    1. Tine

Hahaha that’s because it’s much cheaper to get tissues in Malaysia! In Australia, they most sell the 3-ply thick packets instead of the thin, flat ones. I prefer the latter as they’re handier to carry in my bag. Kleenex does have the thin, flat ones but they aren’t cheap. I can get similar ones from Daiso if I want but that’s $2.80 for 9 pieces. Tissues from Malaysia are so much cheaper, plus they’re light so whenever I’m back in Malaysia, I always stock up on tissues ๐Ÿ˜›
