What’s In My Bag?

One of my favourite websites to read is What’s In My Handbag. If you don’t know about that website, I highly recommend you go check it out now. It’s bag content voyeurism on steroids :P.

I haven’t done a What’s In My Bag post in a while now so I thought oh why not. It’s one of those topics that I recommend bloggers do when they’ve run out of blogging juice because really, it’s such a popular and highly-enjoyed topic to write about. So if you’re having a blogger’s block, do a What’s In My Bag! Oh and send me the link because I want to see what’s in your bag too. πŸ˜›

Right, back to my bag. I thought I’d follow What’s In My Handbag and style my items like they do i.e. random stuff strewn all over the desk. πŸ˜‰

MICHAEL Michael Kors Hamilton Satchel

The bag is a recent acquisition from Neiman Marcus and it’s the MICHAEL Michael Kors Hamilton satchel. I’ve seen the larger Hamilton satchels around but I wasn’t keen on them because they were too big for my liking. When I first saw the smaller version on Net-a-porter, it was instant love. I mulled over getting it for months and finally, I couldn’t take it anymore, bit the bullet and bought it. I had some shipping issues with Net-a-porter so I got it from Neiman Marcus instead, which turned out to be cheaper in the end.

What's In My Bag?

As you can see, I have a lot of pouches in my bag. I like to compartmentalise my things so everything has its own container/pouch. You’ve already seen what’s in my makeup bag, so I won’t repeat its contents. The makeup bag is by Longchamp and was a birthday gift. Here’s everything else:

What's In My Bag?

  • Wallet – I think this was actually a clutch, not a wallet but I ended up using it as a wallet instead. The leather is incredibly soft and it can be expanded to include a lot of things like a phone, keys, etc. This was a birthday present from my sister-in-law. I absolutely love the hot pink shade (I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve received compliments because of this). The wallet is from Oroton.
  • Phone – Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (pink case is from eBay). When Tim bought his Note 1, I teased him about using a brick as a phone. Now that I’ve used the Note 2, I can’t go back to a smaller screen. The iPhone is so tiny in comparison! πŸ˜›
  • Envirosax – I don’t go out without an Envirosax in my bag.
  • Fossil pouch – A present from my sister-in-law. It holds my business cards, store cards and the Myki.
  • Baggu pouch + iPod nano + earphones – The Baggu pouch was a gift in a goodie bag I received from a L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival event last year. It stores my iPod nano and earphones. I rely heavily on public transportation so these are a must in my bag. Shuts out the noise and the crazies.
  • House keys – the Coach keychain was a gift from a dear friend. I’ve been using this for 8 years now.
  • Personal alarm + torch – In case of emergencies. Ladies, keep one in your bag too.
  • ck One USB drive – I’ve been meaning to print some photos but haven’t gotten round to it yet.
  • Powerpod – The latest addition to my bag. It’s a portable charger for my phone. I keep it in a Crabtree & Evelyn pouch.
  • Mints – Can’t have smelly breath now, can I? πŸ˜›

Sometimes I bring a Kindle or the iPad with me as well, which fits into the bag perfectly.

I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a peek in my bag. Sometimes I feel I carry too much stuff with me (especially when the handles start to dig into the crook of my arm) but I’d be lost if I don’t have these items with me.

Now it’s your turn. Go forth and show us what’s in your bag! Link it in the comments below so that I can have a nosey in your bag too. πŸ˜›

I LOVE THIS POST. I might go off and do one myself this week. Problem is – I switch my bags and content as I go along in the week depending on where I go, what I do, what outfit I wear πŸ˜›

I like to compartmentalise my things too so everything is in a pouch especially car and house keys but the main reason is because I do not want them scratching my wallet. LOL. As my handbag is smaller, I use a smaller makeup pouch which I only store a mirror, lipstick, tissues in a tissue holder (similar to yours and also from Naraya :-)), wet wipes and hand cream. As a reader, I also like looking at a What’s In My Bag post πŸ™‚

    1. Tine

Hahaha that’s exactly my reason too! I put stuff in separate compartments and pouches just so I can avoid scratching my wallet πŸ˜› Also because I’m quite obsessive-compulsive with how things must be placed just so. πŸ˜›

i love these posts too, and i love that site! πŸ™‚ love all your pink stuff too lol

I got mine online at powerpod.net but you can also get them from vending machines. There’s one at Melbourne Central (right outside the main turnstiles, next to the ATMs under the escalator).

I think I’m so creepy, I just love peek into other people’s bag and see what they like to carry around. It’s one of my favorite types of videos or post.
I love a big enough bag to be able to carry all my junks around, I would feel insecure without having some items with me, like tissues, a small mirror, a lip balm, phone and a back-up battery, wallet and water. Given the fact that I hardly ever touch up my makeup throughout the day, I don’t really need a makeup bag, all I really need if I have to list them out would be the lipstick I’m wearing that day and a gloss.

Oh heck no, not creepy. Just … curious πŸ˜‰ If you enjoy seeing more of these sort of pictures, check out the enormous amount of photos and groups there are on Flickr dedicated to this. Search “what’s in my bag”. I go through those photos like a stalker. Yeah, even creepier than what you imagine πŸ˜›

Thanks for sharing what’s in your bag, Emma. Now go take photos and blog about it! πŸ˜›

Ah, lovely bag, Tine! Micheal Kors makes some beautiful bags. I really like the size of yours, not too small and not too big that you’re always digging around, trying to find things! (I hate that!)

I’ve been wanting to do an updated “What’s In My Bag” post but I’ve been waiting ’til I get a bag I’m saving up on… hopefully in a month or two! :p

That’s why I got the smaller satchel, Renee. I’m sure you’ve seen the bigger one as that’s actually more popular than this one. I’ve seen people use the bigger one for work. It’s nice but I prefer the smaller one. It forces you not to carry so much crap with you on a daily basis (not that mine isn’t little to begin with) πŸ˜›

Looking forward to your “what’s in my bag”! πŸ™‚

    Hi Tine,
    Love this post!
Just wondering where you got those headphones from? I’ve been searching for some like it in Melbourne. Thank s πŸ˜‰

    1. Tine

Hi Yvonne, my earphones are iLuv cheapies. My Beats by Dr Dre ones were damaged last year just before I travelled and needed to get a replacement asap. I picked these up from the airport but you can get them from JB Hifi. The sound quality is decent (I’m just listening to music on the iPod, I don’t need the earphones to be super-duper quality (ie expensive). Best part of the flat cable? No tangling πŸ™‚

Omigosh ive been lusting over this bag for ages and was torn over the black one and the luggage one. Just fyi, this post has totally enabled me to tip over the fence and go ahead and click “checkout” :p

Woohoo! Good on you and congratulations on your new bag! πŸ˜€

  9. Rute

Now THAT’S a bag! Super pretty and pretty full, it always confuses me when I see girls with only a wallet, keys and phone, and I ask myself HOW can they survive with only that in their bags? ahaha

Hear! Hear! I know right? No idea how people can carry so little. Then again, these people question us “how can you carry so much??” No win-win πŸ˜›

Am I the only one who has a handbag full of scraps of paper with notes and shopping lists?
My handbag is a mini filing system!

So envious of you neat and organised handbag!

Posted my “what’s in my bag” I love this sort of stuff and yes I like to use pouches as well. Last night I cleaned out my “organised bag” and I think I took out at least 40 lip products. I was amazed! Of course it solved why my bag was heavy.

    1. Tine

Just saw your video and I loved it! That skull bag is so cool πŸ˜€

  13. Michelle Beh

Wow! You had quite many things in your bag Tine but I love the way you organized the things in your bag. As for me, i got my wallet, tissue paper, antibacterial wipes, keys, my planner, an umbrella and small makeup bag. πŸ™‚

    1. Tine

Haha I know right? I’m insecure like that. I need all my crap with me πŸ˜›
Wow you carry around a planner too? Mine’s just my phone πŸ˜›

  14. Efrain

I like this kind of post, so it’s very probable than in some weeks you’ll see mine. I’ve never seen a personal alarm + torch so I googled it, they look very handy, I think I’ll buy a couple.

My bags aren’t really organised since I use them to keep everything that is prone to be lost; when I don’t find something I search in them and I find it.

I got the personal alarm when I was travelling to Bangkok. Now I just use it as a torch but you never know when you’ll need it. Just remember to test the batteries though. I had an old personal alarm that I was carrying for years, only to realise that the battery was at the end of its life for when I yanked the cord, it didn’t scream bloody murder like it normally would but a squeak. Wouldn’t want that to happen during emergencies.
