A Beauty Blogger’s Travel Beauty Essentials

A Beauty Blogger's Travel Essentials

When it comes to travel essentials, everyone has their very own must-have item with them. You’ve already seen all of my travel essentials (which is a crazy lot!).

For a bit of fun, I decided to ask a few of my fellow beauty bloggers on what their travel essentials are. To make it more difficult for them (y’know I’m never about the easy ;)), they could only name ONE travel beauty essential. The majority of the replies were “only one?!” 😛

Hair Romance, Crashing Red and Ponikuta

Christina @ Hair Romance
“Oooh so hard to pick just one! I’d have to say my rosehip oil. I keep it in my carry on and take off my makeup and massage a few drops into my skin when I fly long haul. The air con is so drying and I find the rosehip keeps my skin hydrated during the flight.”

Maria @ Crashing Red
“Right now my number 1 travel essential is Bio Oil (small 50 ml bottle). It can be in your carry on due to the small size and you can use it on your hands, body, even face and nails! This product is a real multi-tasker. Particularly great for long flights when your skin gets super dry. I just kept putting Bio Oil on. It’s not greasy and not that oily, absorbs quickly too. Also, its amazing body moisturiser – I’ve sun baking and swimming in the sea from 11am till 6pm everyday in Greece. Can you imagine what sun and salty water combined can do to your skin?! I used Bio Oil everyday after shower and my skin was left (and felt) perfect.”

Val @ Ponikuta
“Haha I was going to say money so I can buy EVERYTHING I need. But if it was really one thing I have to bring, I’ll say a moisturising lip colour. Currently loving Guerlain Rouge G lipstick in Madame Reve 862. Hides all my multitude of sins under a large pair of sunnies and rock a bold lip.”

Beauty in the Sky, My Women Stuff and A Beautiful Story

Megan @ Beauty In The Sky
“It’s so very hard to narrow down my no. 1 beauty must have but I’m going to go for my Clarins Beauty Flash balm, if my skin is generally looking haggard and spotty from the constant flying I pop a layer of this on at night before I go to bed and wake up looking 100% better. It can magically revitalise my skin however I try not to over-use it and would rather save it for times of dire need, this is one product that is definitely worth the hype!”

Paris B @ My Women Stuff
A sheet mask. Any brand but a good long-lasting one like L’Herboflore or My Beauty Diary. I may not use it on the plane, but I make sure to pack one to use when I arrive at my destination. If I’m feeling luxurious, then I pack 1 a day. If not, I pack 1 for each alternate day. You could say I’m more diligent using a mask while travelling then when I’m at home!”

Sarah @ A Beautiful Story
“My #1 must have is an assortment of the GLAD snaplock bags. Easy to keep all your beauty products organised, you know where things are at a glance and if something breaks it doesn’t leak everywhere! ”

Ms Critique and Stuff That I Bought

Cherie @ Ms Critique
“My La Mer lip balm is my absolute travel must have. There’s nothing worse than dry chapped dehydrated lips while travelling!”

Elise @ Stuff That I Bought
“I don’t fly without rosehip oil. I massage it on every few hours during a flight to combat dehydration and make sure I arrive at the other looking not-totally-horrible, and then I use it twice a day with my regular skincare. It’s also great if you accidentally get a little bit sunburned (SPF, people!). My favourite rosehip oil is the Trilogy Antioxidant+.”

Thanks for sharing your travel beauty essentials with us, ladies!

Wow, it is enlightening to know that rosehip oil is a favourite when it comes to traveling companion 🙂 I use the Trilogy one at home and though there’s little or just very subtle effect like waking up to hydrated skin, I think it is a decent beauty product. Haha. I echo Paris; when traveling, I love to pack sheet masks and imagined that I will put on one when I get back to the hotel in the evenings…Alas, they just sit comfortably in my luggage, never got used somehow. Oh well, it is the thought that counts I guess? 😛 I would bring along lip balm and facial blotter because I usually look like a bagged up cat when the plane lands. Somehow, I don’t fit into the travel fashionista beauty. I apply some lip balm for a nice sheen on the lips and blot the excessive oil from my face that the plane could have used to fuel our flight LOL. I love Sarah’s snaplock bags idea. I am quite a leak-proof freak when it comes to traveling with liquid and what nots.

Hahaha I brought 8 pieces of sheet masks with me and used all of them up during my holiday. They’re a skin saver, I tell ya. My skin was so dehydrated from the travelling; it was dry, patchy, blotchy and just doesn’t feel good. If not for the sheet masks, I think my skin would have deteriorated a lot quicker especially from all that flying.

Ziplock bags are a godsend. I forgot to take more with me. I should have put some of the IKEA decanted bottles into ziplock bags first before flying because when I landed in KL, those bottles burst open and my toiletries bag was covered in Cetaphil 🙁 This is also what happens when I forget to tape the lid first 🙁

I’ve been enjoying your beauty travel essentials series, Tine. A topic that is very close to my heart 🙂 If I could choose one travel essential beauty-wise, it would be my Dermalogica hydrating mask – my skin just drinks this in during a long haul flight.

Aww thanks Yu Ming! I was thinking of bringing the Dermalogica Hydrating Skin Booster for the flight but brought the Hydraluron instead. Didn’t work as well as it did when I’m not travelling though. Hmmm…

PS: I’m following your blog closely for when you deliver! Oooh any day now. All the best! xx

These tips are so handy – each answer is so interesting! 🙂 This reminds me that I better not forget my rosehip oil or my camelia oil blend!

Thank you for inviting me to participate, Tine. 🙂
