Travel Beauty: What’s In My Travel Makeup Bag?

When I was checking out travel essentials on YouTube, the highest amount of search results was “what’s in my travel beauty bag?” And you know me; I love taking a peek into what’s in other people’s bags so of course I’m going to want to see what’s in your travel beauty bag too. What I realised was, oh boy, they bring SO much makeup with them when they travel for just a few days! ๐Ÿ˜›

Now I donโ€™t normally like to travel with a lot of makeup. When I was in Japan last year for slightly over a week, I made do with one Maybelline Color Tattoo, one eyeliner, one mascara, an eyelash curler, a BB cream, one blush and one compact powder. I didn’t even bring concealer with me!

Having said that, I had to bring a whole lot more makeup this time as I’m doing my own makeup for Beetriceโ€™s wedding. She asked me if I wanted her makeup artist to do my makeup on her wedding day as well but I thought I’d do my own instead. In hindsight, damn, perhaps I should have taken her up on her offer because I wouldn’t need to carry so much makeup with me. ๐Ÿ˜›

My makeup bag changes every time I travel and this time, I decided to use the clear bag from Kiehl’s. Clear bags are the bomb; it makes things much easier to locate.

As you can see, I didn’t just bring one Color Tattoo with me this time. I brought my favourite Urban Decay NAKED eyeshadow palette with me as well. This is such a versatile palette and is perfect for wedding makeup too.

Instead of just mascara, I brought false eyelashes too! Iโ€™m saving these only to be used for the two weddings I’ll be attending. These are from Blync and Ardell.

Having to make sure my makeup lasts throughout the days of the weddings, I had to amp up my face makeup with primer. I brought my current favourite, which is the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. As for foundation, I’m sticking to my trusty, almost full-coverage Revlon PhotoReady Whipped Creme Foundation. As I’m not about to lug the heavy glass jar on holiday with me, I decanted some of it into a Hello Kitty contact lens case. ๐Ÿ˜›

This time, I brought 2 powder blushes and a cream blush with me. Excessive in terms of blush, I know. The Stila blushes come in coral and pink, which I thought will work with any sort of eye makeup colours I use. I threw in the Revlon cream blush at the last minute. Funny thing is, it’s the only one I used the whole time I was in Malaysia!

In terms of fragrances, I decanted two of my favourite perfumes into my trusty Travalo atomisers. They are Marc Jacobs body splash in Curaรงao (a unisex scent that Tim loves to use as well) and Serge Lutenโ€™s Lโ€™eau. Oh, and a decanted bottle of makeup brush cleaner is a must to. Got to keep the brushes clean, yโ€™know.

As for the rest, well, I’ll just let the photos tell you. ๐Ÿ™‚

I try to travel with basics that I can still create different looks with. I guess going to a wedding changes that, though! x

Oh yes it does. I’ve never travelled with that much makeup before. Ever! In the end, guess what? I ended up having a makeup artist do my makeup instead! I brought all that heavy makeup for nothing. ๐Ÿ˜›

I love your idea of decanting foudation in contact lens case! I do that for face cream on short overnight trips! :p

I bring mostly cream products so that I reduce the number of brushes that I have to take along. Mostly for brushes I take a small setting brush and a tapered flat eyeliner brush. ๐Ÿ™‚

And I love those products with many functions within a pen, such as pixi Lip and Line or a small eyeshadow palette with at least a light and dark colours. I will bring a few eyeliners though because it can easily make smoky eyes. ๐Ÿ™‚

What about your brushes? You haven’t mentioned them. Haha

    1. Tine

Haha I learned that idea of decanting foundation into a contact lens case by popular Hong Kong beauty Youtuber, BeautyQQ! But it’s a good idea to decant face creams in it too. Thanks for the tip!
Oh yeah, just realised I didn’t show you my brushes! It’s actually a brush set from Royal & Langnickel. It’s my favourite for travelling. They’re full-sized brushes but are very light.

I try to keep my makeup to the bare essentials! I tend to buy makeup when I travel too – duty free is irresistible! – so I would only bring one eyeshadow palette (usu neutral), my Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua (always dependable), face powder, concealer, eyebrow powder, one blush, one eyeliner, eye shadow primer, and Maybelline’s bad to the bronze cream shadow (actually with this – I prob don’t need the palette because it looks so good on its own!), one lip balm, one lipstick, and one lip gloss. Yeah I like travelling with the UD naked palette too…all-time fave!

Duty free. Two sweet sweet words ๐Ÿ˜›

You’re right. The Bad to the Bronze is good enough. I ended up not using the NAKED palette at all, just the Colour Tattoo!

Highly recommend the Travalo if you want to bring your favourite perfume. So easy to use, no spills ๐Ÿ™‚

Where did you get the great false eyelash case?

    1. Tine

      Daiso! ๐Ÿ˜€

Hehe, love taking a peek into others makeup bag too! If I know there’s function etc, then naturally I’ll be taking more. If not, I’m good to go with little amount, concealer, powder, blush, mascara and 1 eyeshadow. But sometimes it’s still nice to be able to do a full face haha

    1. Tine

Haha I know what you mean. I can normally do a full face without so much makeup but since I thought I had to do my own makeup for the wedding as matron of honour, I didn’t want to risk not having something. In the end, my cousin had her makeup artist do the makeup for me so I brought so much makeup for nothing. I didn’t even touch half the stuff for the second wedding I attended!

Love your makeup bag as usual ๐Ÿ™‚ Do you find your perfume gradually evaporating in those Travalo atomisers? I thought my perfume seems lesser in the atomisers after several months and I was unsure if it was due to my paranoia or it really does evaporate. LOL.

    1. Tine

Thanks V. Hmm I didn’t notice any evaporation of perfume in the Travalo atomisers. Everything’s sealed shut though, where would it go? The bottom? Hmmm…

  8. Kai

kudos on packing such a compact make up bag, i packed twice as much as you did my last one month holiday…so hard to leave things behind!

    1. Tine

Haha it looks compact but it’s over 1kg in weight! ๐Ÿ˜›

I will usually try to keep my makeup bag to bare essentials only. The things that I will bring along will be my Rachel K CC cream, face powder, Benefit Hervana blush, Za eyebrow pencil, Clio eyeliner, Shu Uemura eyelash curler, Maybelline Falsies mascara, Clinique chubby lipstick and Dior lipstick. Oh ya! I will bring along my Loreal Paris makeup remover.

    1. Tine

That’s a good amount to bring. It’s actually not a lot but it works! ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Anusha

Tine i am loving all the photos you have posted on facebook..thank you so much for every post you are doing..I bet you are even more beautiful on person! !!virtual hugs..

    1. Tine

      Aww thanks Anusha! xx

Just to let you know I think your makeup at Bee’s wedding was really gorgeous! =)

    1. Tine

Aww thanks L! All thanks to Bea’s makeup artist! I originally told her I’ll be doing my makeup hence bringing so much makeup with me but she talked me into using hers. Thank goodness because I completely sucked at applying those silly falsies ๐Ÿ˜›
