Not Nailing It: Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Glosstinis in Pina Colada and Bahama Mama

Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Glosstinis in Pina Colada and Bahama Mama

I think all nail polishes should come in this size. Seriously, show of hands, who has ever finished an entire bottle of nail polish that isn’t base or top coats? Make less, charge less and people will buy more. I’m not an economist but even that makes plenty of sense, no? 😛

Right, let’s go back to the shades at hand (*kaching!*), and that’s the Pina Colada and Bahama Mama by Covergirl. These shades are part of the cute little Glosstini nail polish range. Pina Colada looks a little more eggnog than the drink to me, to be honest but hey, I’m digging the shade. Makes my hands look slightly tanned without even trying. As for the Bahama Mama, it’s a light peach with subtle gold shimmer. These two shades are quite pretty and definitely summer-worthy colours.

Unfortunately, I labelled these nail polishes “Not Nailing It” because I’m not a fan of the formula. The Pina Colada is creamy, but it’s also streaky and drags on the nails regardless of how much or little nail polish I apply. The Bahama Mama has a better formula and a lot easier to apply but it’s very sheer and requires at least 3 coats to be opaque.

Covergirl nailed it in terms of the colours (at least, in my opinion, they did) but needs improvement on the formula of their cremes. Then they’ll really be nailing it!

Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Glosstinis retail at AU$4.95 each for 3.5ml.

Have you tried any of the Glosstini nail polishes before? How do you find the formula? What’s your favourite colour?

I bought some Cover Girl nail polishes at Coles a while back as they were on offer and the colours were nice. They didn’t last 2 days without chipping. 🙁

This is why I love blogs! I actually adore this range of nail polishes (both the mini and full size) but I love hearing people who have had a different experience.

I’ve recommended these to heaps of people so hopefully it has worked for them 😉

I’m actually wearing Purple Freeze from that collection now and since applying Friday have no chips 🙂

Tine, I agree with you about the size & price of the Glosstinis! Who needs the big bottles? I’ve had mixed results with CG polishes. The Hunger Games polished were streaky too. But I like that piña colada shade, pretty

I know right? Keep the bottles small, keep the price low and I can pretty much guarantee you your sales will rise. It’s just like the lipstick index but cheaper for nail polishes. 😉

Bummer these didn’t really work out. I don’t have much luck with drugstore nail polishes actually and the only ones that I really like are from Barry M (which we don’t get in Malaysia). To me Orly, OPI, China Glaze, Essie, etc. are more a mid-priced range because they are quite expensive here.

I can’t believe I didn’t pick up any Barry M nail polishes when I was in the UK last year! >.< I've heard such great things about them, especially the gel polishes. I kept thinking that I'll get it at the next Boots I go to. And then it was time to leave. Grrr. Where did you get your Barry M stuff?

      1. lyn

I got them from Superdrug and they are available at Boots too.

What a shame the formula is awful! The colours are very pretty!

Sadly these just didn’t work for me. I’ve seen very beautiful colours that they have too. Bummer.

I bought the pina colada and I wanted to love it but it’s a little too yellow and punchy. I was looking for a more mellow pastel yellow as another mute/neutral that’s a little different. Still looking… I also bought a similar yellow from Clinique that looks like color of their signature face lotion bottle- but it was still too bright for the office. but on my toes for summer- it’ll look cute~

Oh I’ve seen the one by Clinique and oh yeah, it’s bright all right. I’m sure it will look fab on your toes. Make your skin look bronzed and tanned without even trying to. 😉
