Scrub A Dub Dub! Away With That Grubby Skin with Cara Mia’s Body Scrub in Bonsai

Cara Mia's Body Scrub in Bonsai

Last month, Cara from Cara Mia emailed me asking if I’d like to try out any of her body care products. She sent me a link to her Etsy store and whaddyaknow, she made them! I love supporting small businesses especially when they’re handmade items so I had to say yes. I picked out a body scrub and kept my fingers crossed that it’s going to be good.

Straight up, the body scrub smells pretty bloody amazing. It was a gamble deciding on which body scrub to choose when I only had a description of scents to choose from. I haven’t tried the rest of the scents but I hit the jackpot with the Bonsai. It’s just the sort of fragrance that is up my alley. It’s fruity with a hint of citrus. Love!

The only thing I don’t like about the scrub is how hard it is. I’m used to loose sugar/salt bits in body scrubs which makes it easy to take out of the jar. This body scrub has the product firmly packed in the jar, hardening the surface and making it difficult to get out. In the end, I literally had to use a spoon to scrape the scrubby bits out. It’s an inconvenience all right but it’s not a deal breaker. I asked Cara about this and here’s what she has to say: “The body scrub is firm in consistency due to the content of Cocoa Butter which is solid at room temperature but quickly melts when it comes into contact with the skin. Cocoa Butter has many skin loving benefits including retaining moisture in the skin and helping to improve skin elasticity.” I can vouch for that bit about melting quickly when coming in contact with the skin.

The scrub itself is a good one. It’s not overly abrasive on the skin and leaves a bit of an oily residue on the skin from the essential oils. I used to dislike this about scrubs but recently, I’ve been liking that very subtle oily bit it leaves behind. I feel it nourishes the skin better especially after topping it with body lotion or body butter. If you’re not a fan of that tiny bit of oily residue, simply wash it off with a shower gel and you’re still going to be as good as new with newly exfoliated skin.

Cara sells her Cara Mia Body Scrubs and other body care products that she creates herself on Etsy. I have great respect for small businesses of handmade goods so if you’re in the market for a new delicious-smelling body scrubs or body butters, do give Cara some love and check her products out.

The body scrub retails at AU$29.50 for 250ml and is available in 6 scents. Well worth checking out! 🙂
