Bloggie Wednesday: Let Me Ask You Something!

Bloggie Wednesday: Let Me Ask You Something!

Today’s Bloggie Wednesday post is going to be a very quick one and it’s not going to be about blogging. Every few months or so, I do an Ask Me Anything segment on Bloggie Wednesdays where you can ask me just about anything you want to, whether it’s questions about blogging, beauty, food, tech, what have you.

However, now that we’re onto the second half of the year, I’d like to ask you something today and your answer will help me greatly in planning content for you. This blog is for YOU and what YOU want to read. So, my questions for you are these:

  • What would you like to see more (or less) of on Beautyholics Anonymous?
  • Is there a particular product you’d like me to try out and review for you?
  • Are there any questions you have I can answer for you in a post or two?
  • Are there any topics you’d like the Beautyholics Anonymous community (because that’s what we are, a community!) to discuss about?Β

Just let me know in the comments below or if you’re subscribed to my blog posts via email, just hit the Reply button and let me know via email. Either way, I’d really appreciate your feedback.

I’m nosy and can never get enough of skincare routine, what’s in my bag, empties, hauls etc posts. πŸ™‚

    1. Tine

High five, fellow nosy reader because I am too! A What’s In My Bag post is coming up in a couple of weeks with a surprise in the end. You heard it first!

  2. Anissa

I love reading haul posts, wishlists, top 10 favourites and what’s in my bag posts. I also loved your blush series and would love to see a lip product series.

Oooh a lip product series! That’s a fab idea Anissa, thank you! Time to go to the storyboard and see what I can come up with. πŸ™‚
My problem with haul posts is that while I enjoy reading them, I don’t buy enough at one go to show. Usually I pick up one item or two per shopping trip (same goes for shopping online). Not very interesting at all to make one blog post. πŸ˜›

    Hi Tine,
You always help us with our questions so it’s only fair to give you some feedback too:)
I love seeing your posts on travelling or just life in general. I really want to try bite beauty’s lipstick. It will be great if you can do a review on that:)

    1. Tine

Thanks Grace! I don’t travel often but when I do, I’ll definitely do more posts on travelling. I love travelling posts too!

I’m been wanting to try out Bite Beauty lipsticks too! Unfortunately, they aren’t available in Australia and I’ll have to make an order through Sephora to get them. Will see what I can do. πŸ™‚

I would like to see reviews on skin care products especially some eye creams and more foundation revews.Would also love to see hauls, your makeup collection and organization and also your favorite summer and winter time foundations, blushes, lippies .May be a handbag collection post too πŸ™‚
I would like you to review some good drugstore concealers for dark circles

    1. Tine

Hahaha handbag collection? Oh dear. I’ll be quite embarrassed to show it because although I don’t have a lot of designer bags, I do have a LOT of bags. I’m a bona fide bag lady. πŸ˜›
Thanks for the suggestions, writing them down now!

    Hey Tine!

I totally agree with everyone asking for a lip product series! I think there’s a lip tag going around the internet that you could draw some inspiration from. Also, if you’re interested in Bite, let me suggest the Best of Bite set on Sephora which includes 4 travel sized High Pigment Pencils for 25 USD. Also there’s the Luminous creme lipstick duo for $12. These are their two most popular formulas and I definitely have multiples of all the colors. They’re all very pretty! Keep in mind though that they’re made from food grade ingredients, so make sure you don’t leave them in the heat or they’ll get ruined.

A 10 favorite foundations post would be nice, as would a post on physical sunscreens. I try to use physical sunscreens when I can but I have a hard time finding good ones. Please recommend a few!

    1. Tine

Thanks for the suggestions, Katherine! I saw pictures of the Best of Bite set and omg I WANT. Will be doing one of those parcel-forwarding things from Sephora soon because I want a bite of those (yes, totally intended ;)).
I seldom use physical sunscreens though because most of the ones I’ve tried are far too thick for my liking. But one I’ve tried and really like is the Dermalogica Ultra Calming sunscreen. It’s lightweight, smells of lavender and is very good. Of all the physical sunscreens I’ve tried, that’s the best and one I would recommend over and over. πŸ™‚

Personally, I love comparison posts – it means I don’t have to trawl through every gel eyeliner (or whatever) and really p*ss my husband off with a bathroom full of make up, most of which I will not wear again after finding the best one. So they are *really really* helpful.

As I have annoying skin that I’m sure not a single other human has (can’t be described without writing an essay its so argh!), I’m not sure skincare as a whole is all that useful for me, but I still like hearing about what’s out there to be honest. Am looking for a guinea pig for Paula’s Choice anti aging foamy stuff at the moment lol.

As my annoying skin seems to have just gone SO odd recently (winter and aging methinks have b*ggered it up totally) I’m on the look out for a foundation that covers, but doesn’t leave me looking like I literally have a mask on (had a colour match thing at MAC – almost cried when I got back to my car I looked SO masked, it was terrible terrible terrible), and as I have such bad acne/scars/scabs of ick, I need foundation – but the aging thing has just made my skin not want to wear foundation anymore. Polyfiller is seeming a good idea at the moment to get a good base for the foundation πŸ™

I loved the Tips on Traveling to/in Japan btw – that was fab πŸ™‚

A ‘How To’ series is always welcome (…’do a simple eye’….’do a party eye’….’make eyeliner last all day’…). I know that’s not really what you post about a lot, but you can never have enough instruction imho (ok, yes, I’m a teacher – I can’t help wanting to learn everything about everything πŸ˜› )

Oh, and who doesn’t love a ‘Haul’ post? πŸ˜€

Other than that – its sort of hard, because you see, you do such good posts that I love reading always, even though I might not know at the start of the post that I wanted that blog post right then. So you just keep on doing what you’re doing. It rocks πŸ˜€ (And I know that’s not wonderfully helpful – sorry!)

    1. Tine

Aww thank you Hilary! And I’m so glad you enjoyed the Japan travelling tips post. After I published the post, I was like, oh wait I forgot to mention this, I forgot to mention that!

See, the reason why I rarely do How To makeup posts is because those on YouTube do a much, MUCH better job and because you can actually see them do it, it’s easier to learn than from pictures. Plus I’m really not that good in makeup at all so it’s a bit of an embarrassment to show people how to do the simplest of things that most of them find easy but I find tough. Y’know what I mean?

As for haul posts, man, I don’t buy enough to show it in one post! Okay, from now on, I’ll, er, collect my few purchases here and there and form one post per month, how’s that? Don’t think you guys are going to be interested in a shopping “haul” post when there are just a couple of items which you can’t really call a haul anyway. πŸ˜›

Oh good lord what foundation did those fellas at MAC put on you that it looks so masked on your skin?? I can’t remember if you told me you can or cannot use silicone primers but in case you haven’t, have you tried one of those “blur cream” things? Ie silicone primers? You don’t need so much foundation to do the “filling”.

      1. Hilary

I think the whole ‘how to do make up’ thing though is brilliant from whoever – as everyone has their own way of doing things, and that way might just suit the person viewing, even if its a) totally simple and b) totally obvious to you (its probably not to everyone lol).

The collecting of items to do a once a month haul type post is fab πŸ˜€ And lets us be all nosey about your life πŸ˜› (You can also include any doggy items in there as well tbh, as whilst this is a beauty blog, we all love Janey too πŸ˜€ )

At MAC they went full on with Studio Fix in the new NW10 shade, as I’m deathly pale but love it (and HATE it when they try to turn me ‘all healthy’ with a yellow cast – I just look jaundiced!). No powder over the top, but it just looked epically fail! πŸ™ The problem with wanting an ultra matte, full coverage foundation at this age/time of year is the two are not compatible with not looking like you have a mask on. Boo Hoo πŸ™ Although to be fair, my beloved Revlon Nude foundation is also looking a little cakey at the moment, so its almost definately the cold weather playing havoc with my skin (the whole moisturiser vs outbreaks issue πŸ™ ).

I do use primers – Porefessional has always been my go to, I used to just wear it on its own it did such a good job of making my skin look ‘normal’ just on its own, however recently nothing is working. Soooo annoying. I have the Garnier Blur one my mum bought over for me too from the UK, and I’ve been using that a little as I’m paranoid since someone mentioned I have lines around my eyes so I look old (wow, cheers for that! hmm :/), but that doesn’t really work either with regards to texture. I’m all for hibernating until the weather picks up to be honest πŸ˜› Just wish I could have ‘normal’ skin – I would far prefer to have good (or just not terrible) skin over any other beauty ‘wish’ or look etc – give me a massive nose, tiny deepset eyes (oh, I’ve already got those πŸ˜› ), wonky teeth and so on, but skin? The one thing that you can only go so far against and is held up as a universal beauty marker, due to it indicating good health etc. Sob πŸ˜›

Haha sounds good! Okay then, I’ll put it in my editorial calendar: a once-a-month shopping haul of absolutely anything! (which may also include tampons because it’s a monthly thing too, right? :P)

Geeeez what is it with makeup artists who insist on making people look “healthy” with all that warming up of skin and bronzing?? It annoys me big time because for me, most of the time they make me look more tanned than I actually am and I don’t like it because it’s so unnatural for my Asian skin. I used to use Studio Fix products but never had any problems. I have a feeling that MUA was piling the product on your skin like the foundation’s free or something.

Yeah it could be the cold weather mucking up your skin making it look cakey since the cold weather makes our skin dry. I reckon it’s best to use minimal makeup if you can just till winter is over. Have you tried facial sheet masks to up the hydration levels of your skin? I tend to use a lot more in winter because my skin gets really dry then.

PS: Embrace the lines around our eyes! How dare the person call you old because of that?? I have very crepe-y undereyes (you can tell from all of my photos on the blog) but I just leave it unedited because it’s normal to have them.

  7. Friska

I’d say Top 3 organic natural make up lines. Mineral make ups are not made equal and it’s very time consuming (and expensive) trying to find the right one. I’m forever in shops testing out mineral powders, bb creams and mascara!

    1. Tine

Thanks for the suggestion Friska but oh dear, I don’t use natural makeup and I haven’t been using mineral makeup for years! I’m definitely the wrong blogger to ask, I’m afraid. πŸ™

  8. Efrain

What would you like to see more (or less) of on Beautyholics Anonymous?
In fact I like how is Beautyholics Anonymous is right now, but if I can ask I’d say more tips for everything (skincare, makeup, etc.). I have to say that I like your writing style because you make reviews fun, for example Temptalia is the big blogger but because she isn’t more personal and fun I only read the reviews of the products I’d use.

Is there a particular product you’d like me to try out and review for you?
    Sunscreens, foundations and blushes.

Are there any questions you have I can answer for you in a post or two?
Maybe some basics, it’s always good to remember them, also if it’s really true that you can’t handle warm colors if you’re cool and vice versa.

Are there any topics you’d like the Beautyholics Anonymous community (because that’s what we are, a community!) to discuss about?
In fact I’d like to read what you think about guy makeup and skincare.

    1. Tine

Thanks for your feedback Efrain! Writing them down now. The basics sound very good, we often forget those. Thanks again! πŸ™‚

  9. Victoria

I love your blog the way it is because it covers so much areas which are not only limited to skincare and makeup. Having said that maybe you could do a post on lipsticks like how you did for blush? I really enjoyed your blush series and still apply blush the way you mentioned on your blog. I know empties posts are done by a lot of bloggers but you could add that too if you want. Other than that, your blog is perfect to me πŸ™‚

    1. Tine

Thanks heaps Victoria. A few of you have been asking for a lip product mini series too. I’ll definitely work on it! πŸ™‚

  10. Ling

More asian beauty product related reviews!

    1. Tine

Thanks for your feedback, Ling. I’ll try my best! πŸ™‚

I would love more personal posts (as personal as you’re comfortable with) because I feel that they provide a valuable insight into the blogger behind the blog. And because I am nosy like that πŸ˜›

Hahaha I’m nosy like that too! I’m definitely going to do more personal posts as well because like you, it does provide an insight to the blogger. It’s not all just about beauty with me. πŸ˜‰
