Beauty Things This Beauty Blogger Has Been Slacking Off Lately

Ah yes, the secret is out. Beauty blogging isn’t all that it’s glammed up to be. Well, the fact that I’m typing this blog post out in my pyjamas during the day is already giving you plenty of hints that at the very least, this beauty blogger isn’t a glam princess. πŸ˜›

To make it worse, there are some beauty-related things that this beauty blogger (aka yours truly) has been slacking off lately. It’s terrible with laziness often being the key excuse. There are some things I haven’t been arsed to do much lately and I thought what better time to tell you what they are than this Tuesday morning?

Not wearing nail polish
All right, I confess. I haven’t been wearing nail polish regularly for the past 3 months. I could count the number of times I had nail polish on all winter in just one hand. I had an issue with a nail product that left my cuticles severely dehydrated (it’s akin to my fingers looking as though they’ve been soaked in 100% acetone) and even lots of hand cream and cuticle oil couldn’t fix the issue quickly. The best way to avoid people from looking directly at my fingers would be to stop wearing nail polish for a while. To tell you the truth, after not wearing it for some time, I got a tad too lazy to apply them on my nails again once my cuticles started looking better. Tsk tsk!

Not putting lipstick/lipgloss on before leaving the house
I don’t know when I developed the habit of not putting lippie on before leaving the house. I never used to do that! These days, I’d have a full face of makeup on but I’d forget to put lipstick on. This usually means that I’ll have to apply them in the car, on the train or do a quick dash to the public loo to slap some on. Such a faux pas, I know! Note to self: STOP THIS IMMEDIATELY.

Not applying body lotion after each shower
I used to be incredibly diligent in applying body lotion straight out of my shower. Again, I don’t know when it was that I started to skip a few applications of body moisturiser. It’s obvious because my skin is starting to dry out again. Again, damn you laziness!

Not shaving my winter legs and arms
Okay, to be fair, I hardly wore skirts and dresses during winter and when I did, I had stockings on so you can’t tell the condition of the “forest” issue on the arms and legs. I can’t be the only one who forgets to shave, right? Having said that, after I wrote this post, I did dash to the bathroom and sorted the winter fuzz out so … erm … it’s not too bad, right?

I don’t know why I decided to tell you all this. Geez, what am I doing to my own reputation as a beauty blogger here? Ahem. Ah well, just goes to show that I’m human after all, with winter fuzz (thankfully now de-fuzzed) and polish-less nails. Oh, and also because I got tired of talking about beauty products. πŸ˜›

Your turn to ‘fess up. Surely I’m not the only one who hasn’t been too diligent in her beauty regime. What have you been slacking off lately?

I’m fairly diligent with all of the above .. I have been slacking on my toe polish ( dare I say ! ). Some type of lip product is a must as I don’t like dry lips and I live in a warm climate so .. need to de-fuzz.

I can’t remotely imagine that beautify bloggers and youtubers look the same in every day life as they do on camera .. I mean, false lashes every day? Naw.

Believe it or not, there are a lot of beauty and lifestyle bloggers who literally wear false eyelashes every day. Definitely not for me. πŸ˜›

Hehe I’m guilty of ALL of these things, so you’re not alone! I think I skimped on the nail polish for a solid year other than for the couple weddings I attended, because I just can’t deal with it chipping withing five minutes of applying. I’ve only recently jumped back on the polish bandwagon with a Sally Hansen polish because it actually stays on for a decent amount of time, so my nails get to be pretty again yay. I was never bothered with moisturising after a shower as well until my skin started feeling like sandpaper, so I found a moisturiser that I’m addicted to the smell of and the scent actually motivates me to use it lol.

Phew thank goodness I’m not the only one!
Hmm I need to find an additive body moisturiser like the one you have. But I reckon, at the end of the day, it’s just my laziness because I do have a couple of really delicious-smelling body lotions. πŸ˜›

I was known to have different nail art on my nails every week at work, until now. Well, because I have a baby. Quick dry drops can only help so much, and most of time I just can’t be bothered!

And there’s nothing wrong with applying lippie in public! πŸ™‚

Oh man, you’d be surprised at the number of blog posts I’ve seen on “beauty faux pas” and one of them is applying lippie in public. I mean, clipping your nails in public, yeah but applying lippie? Why is that a faux pas? Back in the day, isn’t it considered super sexy to do so? Hehe just justifying, of course.

Oh wow, different nail art every week? That sounds fab! I can’t do quick-dry nail drops, or at least, I need to find a much better one because the one I used a few months ago totally ruined my cuticles. What’s your fave?

      1. Fei

Yeah I saw your post about Revitanail quick dry drops and decided not to get that. The first and only one I’ve tried so far is Essence quick dry drops, about $3.5 each. I checked the ingredients, which are mostly silicone and sweet almond oil. It does get messy and I usually use it near the kitchen sink. It doesn’t dry out my cuticles at all.

Sadly Essence announced on their Facebook page the quick dry drops have been discontinued. I was lucky enough to find 6 more at various chemists. If you ever come across one, buy it! πŸ™‚

Ahhh no wonder I couldn’t find those Essence quick dry drops any more! I didn’t know they’ve discontinued them! >.< Thanks for letting me know. If I find it, I'll be sure to snap them up. πŸ™‚

No nail polish but that’s not unusual for me. No mascara. I’ve actually stopped using mascara for months now and have no regrets! I do tend to apply my lipstick in the car unless I’m taking pix for an FOTD so you’re not alone there πŸ™‚

Hahaha no mascara? That’s bold! πŸ˜‰

I’m incredibly low-maintenance with my hair, bought a fairly expensive curler – haven’t used it once! Wash & wear all the way!

Haha as long as you can pull it off, why the heck not? πŸ˜‰

I have some blue nail polish residue on one finger that’s been there for an awfully long time … but I almost never blog about nails or nail products so maybe it’s forgivable? πŸ˜›

Don’t take this the wrong way, but my OCD-ness makes me wanna go over to your place right now and remove that nail polish for you! πŸ˜›

I am stealing this topic!!! What a great post! I am right there with you! No nailpolish (except for a few times a year when I have to look very dressed up.) No mascara most of the time. When the long pants go on, the razor takes a vacation, and unless I’m actually going out in public, I often don’t bother putting any makeup on at all — just sunscreen and go. My hair is wash-n-wear; I use my hairdryer to dry glitter tattoos. I’m pretty low-maintenance most of the time… so why am I so obsessed with this stuff? No clue. Just am.

Steal away! I’m looking forward to reading your take! πŸ˜€

I agree with you; long pants on, razors off!

I don’t wear mascara and Eyeshadow even though I own so much of them :p

      Erm … *high five* πŸ˜›
