Bloggie Wednesday: Ask Me Anything!

Bloggie Wednesday - Ask Me Anything!

Happy hump day, my beautiful chickadees!

Welcome to the last segment of Bloggie Wednesdays for 2014! It’s been such a tremendous year for the Bloggie Wednesdays series and I’m mighty chuffed that so many of you are still loving it since I started it in 2011.

I’ve been wondering on what I should write about for my final BW post of the year. I had tutorials and some pretty heavy info in mind but decided nah, it’s the holiday season, let’s keep it light and festive by doing an Ask Me Anything! I’ll leave the heavy stuff for 2015, what say you? πŸ˜‰

If you’re new to the blog and to the Bloggie Wednesdays series, the Ask Me Anything segment is as the name suggests. Feel free to ask me anything in the comments below. It can be questions related to blogging, beauty, health, lifestyle, tech … whatever tickles your fancy. If you have a question, go ahead and shoot it over.

If I’m not able to answer the questions, the Beautyholics Anonymous community (that’s you, you and YOU!) may be able to help you out. If you don’t have any questions, do drop in and say hi. Get the conversation started and everything. I’ve got my cup of tea ready at the keyboard.

If you don’t have any questions for me, I’d love for you to answer one for me.

If there’s one thing you’d like to improve your blog on in 2015, what would it be?

Right, it’s your turn now. Over to you!

Bloggie Wednesdays is a series of articles just on blogging. They contain tips, how-tos, discussions about anything and everything you need to know about blogging and how we can be better bloggers. If you have any suggestions, tips and tricks about blogging you would like to share with us, or if you have any questions you would like me to address, please let us know in the comments.

If you could dress janey up in any outfit, what would you pick?

Oooh good one. Hmm let’s see. She looks downright dapper in anything red, I must say, which means any sort of Santa or elf costume would look great on her. Don’t think I’m going to subject her to any jumpers. I’ve always wanted to put a bee costume on a dog though with the feelers headband. Janey’s going to absolutely hate it!

My goal for 2015 is to get back to my blog roots, and focus on the creative rather than the commercial or brand aspects. I’ve been feeling a little lost lately, so I’m stepping back from the business of blogging and rediscovering the joy.

    Merry Christmas! X

I know what you mean Sara-May (saw your blog post) and I must admit that I’m feeling the same too. Feeling frustrated a lot too. Good thing the holiday season means much lower traffic which means it’s a good time for me to take a break and reflect on my goals for 2015. All the best on yours and I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us. πŸ™‚

      Merry Christmas! x

Stranded on a beach question. If you could pick one item from each category what would you pick:

    1. Food/cuisine (assume it will magically appear, you don’t have to cook)
    2. Furniture (random?)
    3. Drink
    4. Phone application (assume your phone runs off solar and it’s a tough phone – waterproof, sandproof, storm, shockproof). Google playstore/itunes app store don’t count. πŸ˜›
    5. Stationery
    6. Photo
    7. Reading material
    8. Item of clothing

If I think of any other categories to annoy you with, I’ll come back. Larp you long time xxx

      Oh wow big question. Hmm
      1. Food/cuisine – Chinese ‘cos you know I gotta have rice. Preferably chicken rice.
      2. Furniture – my king-sized bed
      3. Drink – Potable water. Nothing fancy.
      4. Phone application (assume your phone runs off solar and it’s a tough phone – waterproof, sandproof, storm, shockproof). Google playstore/itunes app store don’t count. πŸ˜› – Funny enough, I’ll take email.
      5. Stationery – Pen and paper
      6. Photo – One collaged one of Tim, Janey, Mum, Dad, Boy, Ah Yuet Cheh (housekeeper), you, Jen, SY + M + M, Bea and my two chee muis in Malaysia. All who are dear to me.
      7. Reading material – My Kindle and iPad
      8. Item of clothing – Big cashmere blanket (I don’t actually have one but you did say it’s one of ’em stranded on the beach questions)

As a Christmas wish I’d say chin up darling! Any time you feel depressed about the blog or traffic or whatever it is bloggers lose sleep over, just remember that you have a lot of loyal readers, the vast majority of whom probably won’t leave a comment or acknowledge the blood sweat and tears you pour into it. But you create great content, you seem approachable and fun and that definitely comes across in your writing.

Many new (now)HG products in my cabinet have come off the back of your recommendations. So don’t worry too much, we’re here and we love your work!

    Merry Christmas!

    1. Tine

Thank you Asha. Such lovely kind words of encouragement really warms my heart. Hahaha yeah us bloggers really do lose sleep over the simplest things I tell ya. I have to tell myself time and again to stop sweating the small stuff and see the bigger picture. Lovely readers such as yourself are my bigger picture. πŸ˜€ x

Being on a blogging break has shown me what joy there is in not thinking like a blogger all the time. “Oh wait I can’t use it coz I haven’t photographed it” “Oh I have to share how I like this item” “Oh I haven’t written my post for tomorrow!” Towards the end, approaching my scheduled break, on top of everything else that was going on, I just felt overwhelmed.

And now, I am not even thinking about making a comeback! πŸ˜› So, I haven’t quite thought a lot about what’s going to happen with the blog next year. I anticipate that I won’t be blogging as constantly as before simply because I’ve learned that it doesn’t quite matter. In the 2 months I’ve been away from the blog, I saw the traffic dip which did worry me in the beginning but then it’s stablised now and I’ve realised that despite not blogging, it’s stable which does teach me a thing or two. Also, not blogging so frequently will mean I get to be choosier about what I feature which then takes care of a lot of obligations which I’m also cutting back on. There’s only so much one can handle at a time and ultimately, I think I’m just taking things back. Having a bit of a awakening I guess. Been down the commercial route, reaped its benefits, obsessed over stats and am now learning to let go πŸ˜€

You’re keeping up amazingly well, holidays not withstanding so I take off all my multiple hats to you! πŸ˜€

I’m definitely feeling the strain, which is why I’m glad for the Christmas break and anticipated low traffic then because it’ll allow me to take a step back, evaluate and plan for 2015. There are some things I’m letting go in 2015, which I’ll blog more come 2015.

Aww I really hope you’ll come back in 2015 for I’ve missed your blog greatly but I understand what you mean. Would a post or two a week only entice you to come back? πŸ˜›

      1. Paris B

Yep, definitely doing a once or twice a week thing when I get back. With the essays I write, it probably makes sense too! πŸ˜€
