The One Beauty Product That I Love But Have Never Used

Dior Minaudiere 2010 Gift

Oh okay, you got me. I have a lot of makeup. Maybe not as much as you might think I have, but as I look at my set of IKEA drawers, oh yeah, there’s a lot. I’ll show you the collection one day. Remind me please. πŸ˜›

Anyway, as I was going through my makeup, I discovered a piece of makeup that I’ve had for years but have actually never used. I’ve chucked old and expired makeup season upon season but this doesn’t even go near the bin. No sirree.

It’s the Dior Minaudiere Eyeshadow and Lipgloss palette. If you think your eyes are playing tricks on you and that this is actually an old palette, no, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. This is an old palette. In fact, it’s close to 5 years old. I’m not reviewing this 5 years later because truth be told, I’ve never even used it.

Dior Minaudiere 2010 Gift

This was a gift from my cousin Beetrice 5 years ago. The Dior Minaudiere was a limited edition product and I actually asked her to get it for me with the full intention of paying her back. When she visited me in Melbourne for the first time, she ended up giving it to me as a gift.

The funny thing is, up to this day, I’ve never used it. I’ve never once used the eyeshadows nor the lip gloss. It’s what I call “far too beautiful to use”. It’s unlike any other makeup products I’ve seen and/or own. It’s a heavy palette and it really does feel like a tiny evening clutch or even a ladies’ cigarette case. This is something I intend to keep for a very long time as part of my makeup collection and hopefully 30 years down the line, this would be considered a vintage piece.

I know it’s a gift that is meant to be used so I don’t know if my not using it is a waste on the gifter’s behalf. It isn’t to me. This is a work of art for me and I’m happy to keep it unused. I’d love to be able to gift it to my future daughter (whenever that happens) or niece who may turn out to be a makeup lover like I am. I know that if I received something like this from my mum or auntie, I’d be really chuffed.

What about you? Do you own any beauty products that you love but have never used and probably don’t ever intend to use?

Oh yep. Rinnah gifted me a beautiful Dior eyeshadow palette that’s just too beautiful to use. It was something I’d wanted for a while and it’s about 3 years old now!

Haha erm, okay technically you shouldn’t use it anymore but erm, if you want to, no one’s gonna judge. πŸ˜›

That is a beauty! I don’t blame you!

I remember this one! I actually did use it but didn’t quite like it. I may still have it… or I may not I’m not sure. I gave away a lot of stuff a while ago and some limited edition palettes ended up in the bin as well. I’m not very sentimental with makeup LOL! So no, I don’t have anything that I love but don’t use, because I’d use them at least once. I might FORGET to use them though, which is a whole different problem really!

Hahaha I do have items I’ve forgotten to use but this one, I made the conscious decision not to. For 2 years after Bea gave it to me, she kept hounding me to use it but I told her “okay I will” but obviously 5 years later, I still didn’t. πŸ˜›

Oh, how stunning! I can understand why you couldn’t use it. Years ago, I collected vintage mirrors & purse metal makeup compacts designed to be carried in evening bags from the 1930-50s & they often had bits of rouge, lipsticks or powder in the compartments. Although it was probably kinda unsanitary that there was some used makeup left in some of them, in a way it showed their authenticity & made me wonder abt the woman who owned it & where she was when she used it. I love how yours has a compartment for the lipstick & gloss like the old compacts. Thanks for sharing it w us!

Ooooh those are pretty! Lisa Eldridge did a few videos on vintage cosmetics and compacts. So interesting! Nah, I wouldn’t recommend using them at all but do keep them; what a treasure. πŸ™‚

That’s lovely! I don’t blame you for not wanting to use it. I purchased the Marc Jacobs Style Eye-Con No.7 in The Vamp about 2 years ago that I just can’t bring myself to use. The packaging is so sleek and the colors are so vibrant that it just sits on my vanity. I have 2 others from the same line that I use but for some reason I don’t want to use this one.

Hahaha save it for another few years down the line. Who knows, it might become a vintage piece! πŸ˜‰

It’s beautiful! There’s a store near me that carries the Les Merveilleuses de Laduree blush (the one shaped like petals) and even though I want to own it so badly, I don’t get it because I could never, ever bring myself to use it.

    1. Tine

Oh I have those! I’ve probably only used it 5 times. I had to be very careful not to scrape the “veins” off. Now that one is a beaute.

  7. beetrice

After asking a few times, I think I gave up! πŸ˜› But ultimately it’s yours to do what you want with it as long as it makes you happy πŸ˜‰ I can’t complain – I’ve only ever used the eyeshadow in mine (never could bring myself to use the glosses!)

    1. Tine

Hahahaha nope not using it but thank you anyway! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
