Me On A Necklace

Yep, my narcissism is all fired up and ready to go. On my neck, that is.

I Carrie-fied my name on a necklace, which I got from MyNameNecklace.com.au. It had nothing to do with the movie Sex and the City 2 (which I still haven’t watched, by the way). I’ve always wanted one when I was in Malaysia, but couldn’t find a shop that could do it the way I wanted it. So when I saw in on MyNameNecklace, I knew it was time to get one pronto. It’s sterling silver, and costs about 40 bucks.

I love jewellery. Who doesn’t? Shiny baubles hanging from the ears, neck, wrist and even feet – they never fail to give that instant pick-me-up to an otherwise drab outfit. A year ago I started playing around with making my own jewellery. I started off with the simplest of tools, findings and beads. As time went by, those skills improved, and I thought to myself, hey, why not try to sell them?

My first sale was actually to Geekchic. She saw some beautiful knitting row counters disguised as bracelets, and asked me if I could make her one. I did, and I’m glad she liked it. With her encouragement, I approached a few haberdasheries to see if they were interested in looking at my handmade knitting accessories. I was completely over the moon when one of them purchased all of my stitch markers. It was a sign.

I wasn’t contented on selling my pieces on a blog. Please don’t get me wrong, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with having a blog shop. But I was very keen on learning more about e-commerce and how to actually set up a shopping cart system on the website, so I decided that there wasn’t a better time to pick it up. It wasn’t easy, that much I can tell you. Doing everything from scratch was a great experience, exhausting, but exhilarating all the same.

Alrighty then, I’ve talked far too much now. Without further ado, please let me welcome you to my new baby, Sweet Contemplation Accessories!

All pieces are handmade, especially the chainmaille ones. I am a HUGE fan of chainmaille jewellery, and I think the complexity of the designs (and how rare it is found in retail shops out there) give them such an appeal.

So apparently, Coach is teaming up with Japanese mobilephone company KDDI to release a Christmas limited edition of mobilephones.

Would you look at that? First D&G mobiles, then Prada, and now Coach too?

Inspire Company Bon Bon Pins

I stumbled upon this beautiful gift site, Inspire Company, and oh my, everything’s so pretty!

I particularly like the Bon Bon pins, designed by Italian jewelry artist Greta Silva. I find ‘em so girly and pretty; all I could think of was afternoon tea at the park, buttered scones and, of course, bons bons!

The bon bon pins are $54 each.

Do check out Inspire Company. I especially like the Oh How Sweet, and Tea Mice selections (aww … cute!).

I saw this on the So Charmed website, and thought it to be pretty adorable.

It has a hand-beaded glass pearl rosary chain, which features a glass stopper jar full of adorable miniature cakes and sweets. Do check out the site for a clearer picture; the cakes and sweets are really detailed, and jar can be opened.

So Charmed sells an eclectic collection of jewellery, from Punks to Princesses. The Medicine Jar, as featured above, is sold at US$125 (including US shipping). They ship internationally too (shipping costs variable, depending on destination).
