Glasshouse Candles To Prettify My Mantelpiece

I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to candles. I like them smelling good AND I like them looking very good. I’m more than happy to pay a little bit more for good quality candles (by a little bit more, I mean I won’t be buying them from the $2 shops ). The problem with cheap candles is that more often than not, they will not burn consistently, despite the number of hours you leave them burning. I detest pitting of candles; they look awful, and the wax on the sides are wasted. I know because I’ve bought my fair share of candles from the $2 store and had to throw away most of them unfinished because either the wick’s crap, or the wax just won’t burn properly. Bah.

Lesson learned. Don’t cheap out on candles.

This brings me to a range of gorgeous candles I discovered almost a year ago – Glasshouse. These babies aren’t cheap. They’re triple-scented candles, and are AU$39.95 a pop. But they’re worth every cent in my books. First of all, the packaging. I love the beautiful apocathery jars the candles are in, and once they’re burned through, you can just pop them into the freezer, let any remaining wax freeze, and crack them off. Give them a good wash, and you’ll be able to reuse the gorgeous jars to put your cotton puffs or swabs in!

As each candle has two wicks, they burn slightly quicker and more evenly too. Each candle delivers up to 80 hours of burn time. So if you do your math, that’s not too bad for the price of a candle, eh? All Glasshouse candles are handmade in Australia using non-toxic, food grade wax.

The variety of fragrances are amazing. My favourites are Seamist, Mimosa & Wild Apple and Little Black Dress. Oh, and they have miniature triple-scented candles as well, using similar apocathery jars.

My first robin blue box

A birthday gift from the hubs. A very simple trinket, but it’s something I’ve wanted for the longest time. My idea is to build the bracelet up with time, and to add charms at every milestone. And if I’m lucky to be blessed with a daughter, I intend to give it to her in the future.

For now, I’ll just enjoy the empty bracelet

Dolce By MOR for Target

MOR Cosmetics are the type of toiletries that not only smells good, but that you can just place on the dresser to look pretty.

I adore Kikki K stationery, and I think it’s a lovely gesture of them to send me a handwritten thank you card with my name on it (even though hundreds of others probably received the same thing as well). Enclosed were 4 cute cloud paperclips. Aww.

Two lovely ladies sent these goodies to me and Geekchic, and while I cannot state who they are as per request, I can say that these have completely made my day. I finally have new makeup to play with!

Goodies In The Mail

A very lovely surprise came in the mail last Friday. Even though Daphne had told me that she’d be sending me something on her holiday to Perth, this was the last thing I expected. And the one thing I’ve been wanting for ages.

I gasped when I tore open the package.

It was L’occitane’s Cherry Blossom Pleasures travel collection (shower gel, shimmering lotion, hand cream and solid perfume)! This is not available at L’occitane store; only at airports and on-board a flying plane. I’ve always held back when I saw this at airports, even though I wanted it so bad, simply because I didn’t need it (but I sure as hell wanted it). And to think that Daphne actually remembered that this was my wedding signature scent, was beyond touching.

Thank you so much for the lovely gift, Daphne. It was absolutely unexpected, but I love love LOVE it!

Guess what came in the mail for me yesterday?

An early Christmas present!

I was really surprised to find out that it was a package of Christmas goodies from Nikki of Askmewhats!

She knew I was raving to try out Paul & Joe products, and the darling girl sent me:

Pressie Time!

I just love receiving presents, don’t you? This came in the mail a couple of days ago.

It’s a present from a lovely friend in Malaysia. The makeup isn’t new, but it’s hardly used. I absolutely do not mind, because to me, it’s new! I feel like a little girl playing with Mummy’s makeup :p

Review: Kanebo T’estimo Serumdrape Rouge

I’ve been meaning to review this for a long time now, but with all the big events going on for the past 3 months, I had to put this on hold.

This is a very special piece of lipstick, because it was my very first Christmas pressie from a blogger-pal! I really didn’t expect it, but this came from the very lovely Paris Beaverbanks *woot!!* Yep, I was woot-ing quite a bit when I got this on the mail

I’ve never actually bought any lipsticks from Kanebo before; in fact this would be one of the two Kanebo lipsticks I own (the other was also a gift). Not that I have anything against Kanebo lipsticks, but being such a cheapskate, I have never spent anything over RM50 for a lipstick. So imagine my delight to get a T’estimo lippie!

Serumdrape Rouge RS-233

The Serumdrape Rouge is very smooth on the lips, and the colour stays on for a couple of hours before I have to reapply. It doesn’t dry my lips, which some lippies do. I love the colour (looks dark, but it gives a sheer pink stain on th lips), and especially the pearly look of the lipstick from the outside. Luxurious look indeed :p

As this is a gift, I’m afraid I have no idea how much this costs. Still, being a T’estimo, I know it doesn’t come cheap, thus I only save this for special occasions.

What I like about it: Glides very smoothly on the lips, and is pretty moisturising. Love the pearly case of the lippie.

What I did not like about it: Nothing. I love it!
