Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF42 PA+++

I first read about Missha’s BB cream on Ponikuta‘s site. I’ve heard of the brand Missha for quite some time now, but had no access to the products until Val very kindly told me that there was a Missha boutique at Boxhill. As she gave quite a raving review on this BB cream, I thought I’d check it out myself.

Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream Tube

First off, the cream is thick. It’s not as thick and gooey like The Face Shop’s Aloe Sun BB cream, but it’s definitely thicker than most liquid foundations I know. Me no likey the tube with the pump; don’t really understand the need for a pump when it’s used on a tube instead of a bottle. Unnecessary use of extra plastic, that’s what I thought.

Having said that, the coverage is excellent. Of all the BB creams I’ve used, this gave me the best coverage. It evened out my skin tone well, and made the freckles appear lighter. Although you might not want to apply too much of this on the skin, ‘cos when I did that, it sort of emphasised the tiny pink bumps on my cheeks. Euuww. When used sparingly though, it does give a lovely flawless effect.

With this, there was no need for foundation nor sunscreen. I’m quite impressed at its high SPF content (SPF42 PA+++). It has an oil-free base, which is great for those with oily/combination skin. The oilies on my nose didn’t show even after a couple of hours.

The only gripe I have is that it is fragranced. You know me, I don’t like scented skincare and makeup products if I can help it. But if you’re all right with you, then the scent is actually pretty good.

I chose shade No.21 (light beige) for my skin. The colour blended perfectly onto my skin and did not leave me looking white as a ghost. As for claims of whitening-the-skin and anti-wrinkle hoolabaloo, I wouldn’t put much hope in that. I didn’t see any difference in my skin other than good coverage and evening out of skin tone, as what BB creams and foundations would do.

Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream is available at Boxhill Centro (Melbourne) at AUD32.90.

What I like about it: Great coverage on the skin; high SPF

What I did not like about it: It contains fragrance

Christmas Lemmings (Amongst Other Things)

So the in-laws were in town for a visit the past couple of weeks, hence the absence on the blogfront. They left a couple of days ago, so freedom! :p

**********************************

So, did any of my US readers go for the kill on Sephora’s Friends and Family 2008 discount? I wanted to get some items from Sephora, and since my aunt would be going back to Malaysia for Christmas, I thought I could purchase them online and get ’em sent to her house in San Jose. The 20% discount was fantastic and would save me a pretty penny on makeup items to stock up upon, e.g. my usual loose powder, etc.

I was just about to pay for the stuff, when towards the end, I realised that I couldn’t pay with an Australian credit card! It had to be an American credit card. I didn’t want to get my aunt to pay first, thus with a heavy heart, I had to close the page and let the items go.

Sigh.

Christmas is coming, and a lot of shops are selling a lot of gift packs and stuff just for the holiday. Plus early Christmas sales are on, so I’m stocking up on gifts to bring back to Malaysia in January. It’s amazing how with the downturn in the economy and all, that people are actually spending more on makeup! David Jones and Myer are always filled with people buying this and that, and coming out with loads of shopping bags. What happened to saving for rainy days?

Although, I’d have to say, it IS hard. Saving money, that is. Not when there are so many Christmas goodies around. In the process of getting stuff for my mum, gifts for family and friends, I kept salivating at the beautiful holiday makeup collection every brand is coming up with. In particular, Guerlain’s Midnight Butterfly collection.

I saw this at Myer, and oh. My. Gawd. Talk about gorgeous! I stood there looking at the makeup like a little girl who’s just discovered her first Barbie Doll (or whatever rocks your boat). I want. I need.

Sigh.

While we’re on the subject, another Christmas lemming would be the Chloe Paddington bag, which I’ve wanted for 6 years now, but never had the heart to part with my money for it. Sure there are knock-offs, but still …

And oldie, but a goodie :p

So what are your Christmas lemmings?

A Strawberrynet Haul of Lippies

A week ago, I was feeling awfully bored, and had the (mis)fortune of browsing Strawberrynet just for the heck of it. Out of nowhere, I suddenly had a craving for a really bright red lippie. So I thought, okay, I’d browse the Specials, and maybe there wouldn’t be anything there that would interest me, and I’d escape unscathed.

How wrong I was.

This came for me today.

Dior and Lancome Strawberrynet Haul Boxed

I ordered two lippies off Strawberrynet – a Lancome Lip Dimension lip gloss in Hot Red, and a classic Christian Dior Rouge A Levres lipstick in, well, Classique (339).

I’m really digging the Red Hot. It’s super red, with pink tones. I’m thinking of wearing this colour to my cousin’s wedding in January, on her wedding reception in the evening. I don’t know … would it be too much?

Lancome Lip Dimension in Hot Rose

I really like the classic look of the Christian Dior lipstick. It’s hexagonal in shape and looks so elegant. The texture is real creamy too, which I really like. The 339 Classique is a lovely coral.

The Lancome lipgloss cost me AUD16, whereas the Dior lipstick cost me AUD20. Not too bad, considering these are pretty decent lippies.

Oooh me so likey!
