Review: Galenic Elancyl Lipo-Reducing Concentrate 100ml

Okay. Before you girls laugh at me for getting this, please bear in mind that prior to getting this, I had put on a LOT of weight, and on top of the exercise I was putting in, my tummy flab wasn’t improving at all. I need something short of a miracle.

Anyways.

I bought Galenic Elancyl’s Lipo-Reducing Concentrate almost a year ago, and thought, hey, I’d do a review on this, just for you folks out there who might be contemplating on getting this too.

Galenic Elancyl Lipo-Reducing Concentrate

Description:

First slimming care developed by Elancyl’s research teams at Galenic Laboratories based on a chrono-programmed texture to fight against stubborn cellulite. One application in the morning for a progressive release of its actives over 24 hours.
Result: after 14 days up to 2.9cm reduction in thigh circumference. Efficacy reinforced after 28 days.

The concentrate comes in the form of a gel, which smells quite nice. After rubbing and massaging it only my tummy flab, I did feel the skin tighten a little.

After a month, I did notice that the skin around my tummy was a bit tighter. Of course, sit-ups helped. I just hope I wasn’t fooling myself with the concentrate. I didn’t measure my middle though, so although the skin did tighten, the flab did not seem to be any smaller 🙁 My fatty bits must be really stubbon *grr*.

All in all, after weighing the pros and cons (no pun intended), I’m afraid I have to say NAY to this.

By the way, this is NOT a miracle zap-the-fat gel. Rubbing it on your stomach religiously every day does not make it any slimmer if you don’t exercise and eat right.

I’m not sure if this can be used post-pregnancy. Please consult your physician prior to usage.

A bottle of the Galenic Elancyl Lipo-Reducing Concentrate retails at around RM80 at Watsons or Guardian.

What I like about it: Bloody good advertising gimmick; it really convinced me that it’d work. Okay okay, to be fair, I did feel my tummy skin tighten just a tad. Does that count as a YAY?

What I did not like about it: It didn’t work *sigh*.

Review: Elianto Shimmer Shadows & Refill Palette

I’ve always wanted to do a review on Elianto makeup, so let me show you what I bought over the weekend.

Elianto is inspired from the fashionable, beauty-oriented Korea, and we all know how popular Korean makeup is nowadays (e.g. Skin Food, The Face Shop, etc). Elianto means “sunflower” in Italian. Didn’t know that, did ya? Okay, I didn’t either :p

I’ve not used Elianto skincare products (yet), so I won’t talk much about that. What I love about Elianto is the incredible amount of eye makeup colours (Shimmer Shadows) available. Most of their eye makeup are sold as refills; the colours are caked in a small and flat cylinder, and the packaging’s pretty no-nonsense. They either come in plastic covers, or small and flat paper boxes. These work fine for me, as they’re very portable, very easy to be carried around in my makeup bag.

Elianto Shimmer Shadows

And when they preach about affordability, they weren’t kidding. These eye colours are RM5. EACH. I can buy 10 of them at one go and not feel a pinch :p

Anyways, what I wanted to show you today are Elianto’s refills palette.

Palette Closed

These are blank palettes; you select any six eye colours you want, simply pick and mix, mix and match, and then stick ’em into the palettes. Now, a word of warning though; these palettes come with double-sided tape on each refill blank. Once you remove the sticker, and press the colours in, you won’t be able to take them out. So if you aren’t sure of what colours you want to put in, do not remove the sticker bits. Of course, if you don’t stick ’em in, you’ll have to be very careful when opening the palette, lest the refills fall out.

They have a few palettes – 6 refills, 10/12 refills (not too sure about the number), all the way to 20 refills. I love the palettes; using them make me feel like a real makeup artist! :p

Palette Opened

The one on my right is now my travel makeup palette. I even added a blusher to the palette! (bottom right)

About the shimmer shadows – they are quite shimmery (hence the name) and not too sheer. It lasts for about 4 hours before reapplication is needed. Not quite as long as I’d like, but really, at RM5 a pop, what more can one ask for?

The 6-colour refill palette is RM10 (I didn’t inquire the prices for the rest; I shall do so the next time I’m at Elianto). All in all, with the refills, each palette only cost me RM50. What a steal!

The palettes do not come with a makeup brush or sponge though, so you’ll have to provide your own. There’s a groove at the bottom middle of the palette for the brush/sponge.

Elianto Shimmer Shadows (RM5 each) and refill palettes (RM10 for the 6-colour) are available at all Elianto counters.

What I like about it: Very affordable, great selection of colours, very versatile.

What I did not like about it: The shadows did not last very long per application. Other than that, I’m sold!

Random breast cancer fact of the day: Early detection of breast cancer, through monthly breast self-exam and particularly yearly mammography after age 40, offers the best chance for survival.

Inspire Company Bon Bon Pins

I stumbled upon this beautiful gift site, Inspire Company, and oh my, everything’s so pretty!

I particularly like the Bon Bon pins, designed by Italian jewelry artist Greta Silva. I find ’em so girly and pretty; all I could think of was afternoon tea at the park, buttered scones and, of course, bons bons!

Bon Bon pins

The bon bon pins are $54 each.

Do check out Inspire Company. I especially like the Oh How Sweet, and Tea Mice selections (aww … cute!).

Thoughts Aside: One of the major setbacks of heavy exercising on elliptical machine is the development of muscle spasm. This disorder can be cured by taking cobalt salts or mainly with the drug called lexapro. For the purpose of muscles’ skin care treatment, supplements like evening primrose oil are used.

Cardinal Sin In Grooming

This is proof that even the beauty-conscious can have their off days.

I’ve committed one of the cardinal sins in grooming.

I OVER-TWEEZED MY EYEBROW!!!

Overtweezed brow

*gasp*

Horror of horrors, eh? I had absolutely NO idea what on earth possessed my itchy hands to keep going on with the tweezer and brow scissors. I now have a very obvious bald spot on my left brow, just days before heading to the beauty salon for a facial! GAH.

The eyebrow pencil, something which I’ve never used on a daily basis, has suddenly become my best friend.

Let this be a lesson to us, ladies. Please leave the eyebrow shaping to the professionals, lest you end up with brows like mine *sob*.

*slap itchy hands for the 100th time*
