Bloggie Wednesday: The Daily, Weekly and Monthly Blog Tasks Checklist

Bloggie Wednesday: The Daily, Weekly and Monthly Blog Tasks Checklist

If you follow me on my other Instagram account, @closetplanneraddict (it’s all about the love for stickers, stationery and my Etsy store), you’ll know from my weekly planner layouts that I’m very driven by tasks and checklists. I function well with them and it gives me immense satisfaction writing a tick on the box when I’ve completed a task. I know that there are umpteenth apps that can do the same thing but there’s something about physically putting a tick in the checklist or crossing it out with a pen that’s far more gratifying than merely clicking a box on an app.

Each day, week and month has a checklist that I try my hardest to tick the boxes off. Even though I know my daily tasks by heart, I still write them down, just to quench my thirst for putting the tick in the box. My productivity levels have increased significantly because of this, and the positive results I get are overwhelming. Who know drawing a square and putting a tick on it felt so good, eh? 🙂

A Retinol Eye Cream? Thanks to Medik8 Hydr8, Yes Please!

Medik8 Hydr8 Night Eye Vitamin-Rich Eye Cream

Prior to this, I’ve been using the SkinOwl Eye+ eye gel for several months. As I mentioned in that review, while the eye cream was nourishing and hydrating to the delicate undereye area, that was all it did. As I’m approaching my 40s in not too many years away, I needed an eye cream that could do more than just nourish the area. I needed something oomph-y to battle the fine lines and crow’s feet that are appearing around my eyes.

Aging’s a bitch, isn’t it? 😛

Well well, say hello to Medik8’s Hydr8 Night Eye, the first eye cream with retinol I’ve used and am pretty darn impressed with.

Permanent Makeup Is Not A Good Idea

Permanent Makeup Is Not A Good Idea

When I wrote about my big brow mistake back in 2013, I didn’t expect to open a can of worms for people who have gone through eyebrow embroidery and absolutely hated their decision for doing it. In a way, I’m glad that it created open conversations as to why eyebrow embroidery and permanent makeup are not good ideas. I’ve received a lot of emails from readers who stumbled upon my blog when they Googled “bad eyebrow embroidery experience“. One of them regretted the decision so much that it was affecting her day-to-day life, to the point where she had lost appetite to eat because the eyebrow embroidery was done poorly and that she’s now unfortunately stuck with it unless she goes for laser removal.

In recent months, the Australian beauty industry has jumped on permanent makeup and lauded it as “the next big thing in makeup“. They claimed that these expensive beauty treatments like eyebrow and lip-tattooing will give your face a subtle yet improved change in appearance. It’s also a time-saver from having to do your brows and line your lips in the mornings, they said!

Now facial tattoos are popular in Asia. By tattoos, I don’t mean pictorial ones but the ones that changes how your face looks. I have aunties in my family who have had eyebrow tattoos. I knew several teachers in college who had black eyeliner permanently tattooed onto their waterline. Heck, even Mum and I have had eyebrow embroidery done. It’s not a new trend at all.

Coming from someone who has had a form of tattooing done on her brows more than just once and have regretted it since, I’ve said it back then and 3 years later, I’ll say it again: eyebrow embroidery or any sort of permanent face makeup is not a good idea.

What’s In My Swim Bag?

What's In My Swim Bag

Early last year, I could count the number of times I went swimming with 2 hands. I bought a bathing suit from Speedo and got all gung-ho on wanting to swim weekly but after the one summer months were up, I was done. Lazy me didn’t want to drive to the swimming centre any more. But at the end of the year, I decided to give it a go once more. It was summer again and swimming seemed like the right way to go since it was often to hot to run outside.

Seven months later, I’m still swimming weekly. I suppose that’s a habit formed, eh? 😛

Swimming is no longer just lounging in the pool anymore (yeah, that was my definition of swimming. Ahem). I could see the improvement in my efforts as I try to beat my personal best time and lap each week. It’s a great weekly exercise that I do in between my runs and workouts that has very low impact on my knees and joints.

But that’s not the point of the post today. Given my usual sticky beak for looking at what’s in people’s bags (not literally; that’d be creepy. I do it on Pinterest and Instagram of course. 😛 ), I thought instead of sharing the usual stuff in my bag that you’ve already seen, I thought I’d show you what’s in my swim bag instead.
