Happy new year, folks!

I said goodbye to 2013 last night and while it’s been an amazing year, I can’t wait for what 2014 has in store for me and you. I have a feeling it’s going to be a big one. I can feel it in my bones.

As we welcome the new year, I thought I’d share with you my best moments of 2013 via Instagram. Of course one of the photos had to have blushes in it. πŸ˜› And aww, the best photo was of Janey. Bless.

New year, new slate. What’s yours going to be like?

Merry Christmas To You (And Introducing The Newest Member In Our Family!)

Melbourne Town Hall Christmas 2013

Hello folks and merry Christmas! Hope you’re having an awesome day so far. This holiday season is one heck of a busy one for me this time. Tim’s family will be visiting us from Malaysia and Sydney this year and there on top of that, there’s going to be days of non-stop festivities, which means we’ll also most likely be in a food coma very soon.

As it’s the holiday season, I’ll be taking a break from blogging for a bit just to enjoy my time with family and friends as we all should (yes, even if there’s that pervy uncle you want to avoid, just like Bridget Jones!). It’s a great time for me to also reflect on the year that is about to come to an end. What an incredible one this has been. But hey, more on that later.

Just before I leave, I’d like to introduce you to the newest addition to our family. You can say we’ve been waiting for her for years. Please say hello to Janey. πŸ™‚

Janey the Lady

She’s approximately 6 years old and we adopted her from the RSPCA less than a week ago. She’s had a rough couple of weeks with 2 surgeries, one to remove a mammary tumour (thankfully, it was benign) and the other to desex her so she’s going to need a lot of TLC from us. She’s a very shy and timid girl but absolutely adores lots of tummy rubs and walks. Tim and I have been wanting to have a dog of our own for years now but decided to only get it now when we know we can afford to give her the best we can. According to the RSPCA, she’s a terrier mix but I believe there must be some Corgi in her. Looks at that smile, eh?

She truly is the best Christmas present to the both of us. πŸ™‚

So from Tim, Janey and I, here’s wishing you a very merry Christmas and happy holidays!

Nailing It: Getting All Christmassy with Bobbi Brown’s Siren Red

When I first saw Bobbi Brown’s nail polish in Siren Red, I knew it. Christmas nail colour choice was DONE. Easy peasy. πŸ˜€

Bobbi Brown Nail Polish in Siren Red

Siren Red is part of Bobbi Brown’s Old Hollywood Collection. It’s a classic, classic cool-toned red that is simply gorgeous on your nails. It’s an apt shade for what the collection is supposed to do, and that’s to celebrate the glitz and glam of iconic American screen sirens. As for me, this is a spot-on shade for this holiday season and I couldn’t be more excited to put it on.

The 2013 Christmas Tag

The Christmas Tag 2013

When I saw the Christmas tag on Makeup Savvy, I just couldn’t resist doing it as well. Christmas is fast approaching and what better way to get the blog further in the Christmas spirit and answer some questions about Christmas, eh? πŸ™‚

Ho ho ho, here we go!*

1. Do you prefer a real Christmas tree or synthetic?
I’ve never grown up with a real Christmas tree (where would we get real Christmas trees in Malaysia? They’ll be dead in a day, it’s so hot! :P), only plastic ones. It was only when I left for the UK to study 13 years ago that I saw my first real tree. Oh I was a country bumpkin, I was. Oooh-ing and ahh-ing over a TREE. Having said that, I’m more than happy with a plastic tree that I can reuse for years to come. The 6′ plastic tree in my parents’ home has been with us for over 15 years now and it’s still going strong despite the crazy amount of decorations my mum puts on it.

2. You’re in a coffee shop, it’s December, what do you pick?
This is a funny question for me because it makes no difference to me! I’m not the kind of girl to automatically switch to pumpkin spice, cinammon, etc drinks just because it’s December. Again, growing up in Malaysia, I’m more than happy with a simple kopi peng (iced coffee) on a stinking hot day. Now that I’m living in Australia and it’s Christmas in summer, give me a regular iced coffee with a dollop of vanilla ice cream any time. πŸ˜‰
