Upping My Double Alphabet Cream Experience with Models Prefer’s CC and DD Creams

A month or two ago, I was doing my weekly pilgrimage at Priceline when I stumbled upon the Models Prefer shelves. I’ve only ever tried their nail polishes and to be honest, they’re pretty meh. As colourful as their products are, nothing stood out so I was never really tempted to try anything out from their range. That was until I saw the new CC and DD creams.

Now you’ve heard me talk about CC creams and that DD creams were already on the way. Well whaddyaknow, there I was, checking out my first DD cream (or whatever the hell that means :P). I must say, I was curious. Models Prefer called their DD creams “Daily Detox” and I wanted to know what they meant by that.

So for “research”, I thought I’d pick a couple of these CC and DD creams up to give them a go.

Is There Brand Loyalty In Your Skin Regime? Or Do You Mix It Up?

Is There Brand Loyalty In Your Skin Regime? Or Do You Mix It Up?

Whenver I’m at beauty counters trying out new makeup or skincare, or at a spa ready to have a facial, I’m often asked this question “what type and brand of skincare do you use and are currently using?“. Often I feel as though they’re expecting me to answer with just one brand and I find myself reciting a list of brands and products (even more when I’m trialling new products).

This got me thinking – do you stick to just one brand across the entire skincare regime or use different brands for different products?

I first started on my skincare regime at the age of 11. That was when I hit puberty and my skin went from good to completely nutters. Before I learned about moisturisers, I used a lot of Biore facial cleansers. It wasn’t long after when Biore started to launch their range of moisturisers too. I thought since I was already using Biore cleansers, might as well use their moisturiser too.

When Mum introduced Clinique to me at around 13, I thought it was such a posh brand. Heck, my friends were on Biore, Ginvera, etc and there I was, using oh-so-fancypants Clinique! Of course, I accidentally-on-purpose neglected to mention the fact that everything I used were gift with purchases and that my mum didn’t actually buy them for me. But why get technical, eh? 😛

Battle of the Facial Wipes (Featuring Swisspers, Biore, Bioderma, Wotnot, Garnier, Neutrogena, Face of Australia, Simple, NIVEA and Olay)

You gotta love a good facial wipe. Sure you may not use it to remove all of your makeup but they definitely are handy when it comes to travelling. Facial wipes are great for refreshing the skin, for cleaning makeup boo-boos, for removing makeup swatches, for spot-cleaning your makeup brushes and more. I don’t use them to remove my eye makeup but on days where I just want to remove all of my foundation or BB cream during the day before tackling the eye makeup in the evening, facial wipes are a must-have in my makeup arsenal.

Today, I thought I’d do quick reviews of 10 different facial wipes and pit them against each other to see how they fare. For the battle of the facial wipes, I purchased 10 packets of facial wipes from various brands, all of which were under AU$10.

Most makeup removing and cleansing facial wipes claim that they remove waterproof mascara. Now to be able to remove waterproof makeup with a basic water-based wipe is quite a claim (I find oil-based makeup removers the best for removing waterproof makeup) so it’s time to see if it really is true. I don’t have any waterproof mascaras to test this theory out with (not a fan of waterproof mascaras, y’see) so I used waterproof eyeliner instead. If the cleansing wipes can remove waterproof eyeliner, it will have no problems in removing waterproof mascara.
