#tinetravels: She Shopped and Hauled!

Forgive the 3rd-person speak but oh yes she did. She shopped big!

My shopping haul for the 5 weeks I was away isn’t big but as you’ll see as you read on that I did end up spending a lot of money. Finally, after months of saving, it was time to splurge. This isn’t meant to be show-offy or to brag about what I bought during my holiday in Malaysia and Europe. You’ve been asking to see what I purchased so here it is! Trust me, by the time this post is done, I won’t be buying anything big for quite some time because I’m now pretty skint. Okay, make that very skint.

Before I show you what I bought, I thought I’d share a few photos with you of some of the designer stores I went to in Paris. As I stayed at Rue Saint-Honoré, it’s quite a long street and stretches to a lot of designer boutiques. Of course, finally being in Paris, it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t visit the mothership.

And by the mothership, I meant the House of Chanel at 31 Rue Cambon. 😉

#tinetravels to Roma!

Ciao bella!

After Paris, it was straight to Rome and if a few days in Paris has taught me something, it’s not to have too high expectations when visiting a city. So I lowered mine a notch or two when I left Paris for Rome and oh boy, what a difference it made. Rome exceeded my initial expectations, amended expectations and more!

Rome Colosseum

Rome City View

The funny thing was, all the clichés I expected in Paris: music from an accordion playing down the street, people walking around with flowers, the loved up couples with bold public displays of affection … I never saw those in Paris. Yet I saw all of these and more in Rome. I’ve lost count of how many people I’ve seen French kissing in Rome. Oh well, you know what they say. When in Rome … *ahem* 😉

#tinetravels To Gay Paris

Note: This is a picture-heavy post.

The Eiffel Tower

Visiting Paris has always been a priority in my bucket list. It has always been a regret of mine to not visit the city when I was studying in the UK 10 years ago. I kept putting it off to the next summer and little did I know, time flew by so quickly that it was time to leave. Finally, 10 years later, that opportunity arose and I grabbed it by its Parisian horns.

Paris River Seine

Ten years certainly built up an immense amount of anticipation. As you can imagine, I had many years of expectations to fulfil when I stepped into what is known as the city of love. Perhaps it was that great amount of expectations that needed to be fulfilled that I found Paris rather … underwhelming.

#tinetravels to Two Weddings

It took me a while to decide how I wanted to write about my travels. Do I publish one post after another while the memories are still fresh? Or do I write beauty stories in between holiday stories because this is, after all, a beauty blog? After mulling about it over the weekend, I’ve decided to talk about my holiday one post after another to allow continuity of the stories. Hope that’s all right with you. Beauty posts will resume in a week, I promise. 🙂

The entire holiday began with one hashtag (#tinetravels) and two weddings. I don’t think it would have happened if not for these two weddings. The union of two couples we love, one in Malaysia and the other in the UK started out what is now probably the best holiday Tim and I have ever had. These were weddings where Tim and I weren’t just guests of, but also played rather significant roles in.

Beetrice & Kevin

Followers of my blog will know that Beetrice is my cousin who lives in KL. In fact, she’s not just my closest cousin, she’s also the sister I never had and one of my best friends. So when she asked me to be the matron of honour for her wedding, I was truly honoured and didn’t hesitate to say yes.
