I’m Back! (Time to Sweep the Dust Off The Blog, Don’t You Think?)

Malaysia-Europe Trip

Hello! Hello? Is anyone home? Oh right, there you are! So glad you’re still here! Oooh, this blog sure is dusty from lack of use the past few weeks. 😛 Heck, it’s been 3 weeks since my last post! I don’t think I’ve ever had such a long break on the blog before. Not even when I was contemplating quitting years ago!

I’m finally back from my holiday. This is the longest I’ve ever been away from home for a whole of five weeks! I’ve missed my bed and smelly bolster like crazy, I tell ya. But what a holiday this one has been. I’ve been to so many places, did many new things and met many new people. I witnessed two beautiful weddings in two completely different locations and settings. I have that “holiday tan” that people talk about (now how do I get rid of it?!). It’s been truly amazing.

Oh well, back to reality, eh? Still, it’s great to be home. I’ve truly missed blogging. On the other hand, it was good to be away from the computer and social media (I barely touched Twitter during the second half of the holiday), and to properly enjoy and experience the places I’ve been. But I have missed my blog tremendously and I’ve missed YOU!

I’ll be taking the weekend off to finish unpacking, photograph the shopping haul (*ahem*), sort stuff out, edit at least 1700 photographs taken throughout the trip (yikes!), reply all of your comments that I’ve sadly neglected over the past few weeks and also rest because I’m still a tad jet-lagged from London. Then it’s back to our regularly scheduled program where I tell you highlights of my trip and show you some awesome photographs that I Tim no-it-was-me Tim took. At the end of my post-holiday stories, I have a little surprise for you! Nope, not telling you what it is so you’ll have to stay tuned. 😉

Till then, have a great weekend!

Face of Australia Budgeproof Eyeshadows vs. Maybelline’s Color Tattoos. Who Wins?

Face of Australia Budgeproof Eyeshadows

It’s no secret that I absolutely adore Maybelline’s Color Tattoo eyeshadows. They’re so quick and easy to use when you just wanted a quick swipe of colour on your lids. Not to mention how long lasting they are! I think its amazing longevity is why I love them so much.

Face of Australia Budgeproof Eyeshadows

When Face of Australia launched their version of long-wearing cream eyeshadows as well, I won’t lie. I was skeptical as to high long they would last. I’m not a fan of their regular eyeshadows because they crease very quickly and don’t last on my oily lids at all. They also have incredibly large shoes to fill if they’re to beat my favourite Color Tattoos. Still, I wanted to test them out and see if they’re as budgeproof as they claim to be.

I was kindly sent 4 shades out of the 8 that Face of Australia has to try.

Love The Bottle, Hate The Smell

How many times have you fallen in love with beautiful perfume bottles only to find that when you uncap and take a whiff, you’re hit with a scent that you just can’t stand? I know I have, many times too.

Often when I’m at the fragrance section of MYER and David Jones, I’ll be captivated by gorgeous packaging and stunning bottles but when I spray some on perfume cards to smell what they’re Iike, I’ll cringe at how strong and unpleasant the fragrance is. I’ll mutter to myself “gah, what a waste!

Cosmetic companies are clever, they are. People judge with their eyes first then with other senses so they make sure the bottles are as attractive as they can be. We’ll fall in love with the packaging first for surely the scent will be just as lovely. And if it’s not as good as we pictured, as long as it doesn’t reek too badly, we buy it because they will look pretty damn good on our dresser. Even a number of celebrity fragrances have gorgeous bottles (yes, I actually think a couple of the Britney Spears ones aren’t bad) with cloying, sickly sweet scents. You know what I mean?

I thought I’d give you some examples of the perfume bottles I really like but can’t stand the scent. Now I have to be very clear about this: like taste, scent is mighty subjective. What I like/dislike may be the complete opposite for you. I’m quite sensitive to scent so there’s only a specific type that I’m partial to. I’m not knocking your favourite fragrances here. They don’t work for me but lordy, do I love the packaging. 🙂

These are just some examples of fragrances’ packaging that I like but the fragrance … meh, not so much.

Chuck Your Old Sunscreens, It’s Time For A New One!

Hello spring, it’s good to see you! I’m glad that the winter hasn’t been too cold and now that we’ve transitioned to spring, I’m keeping my fingers tightly crossed that hay fever doesn’t kick me in the behind like it always does.

One thing about spring is that it’s a good reminder for me to chuck my old sunscreens and move on to a new one. The thing about sunscreens is that they’re not meant to last for years. No sirree. Just like any other beauty product, they too have a shelf life.

Chuck Your Old Sunscreens. It's Time For A New One!

We often forget to throw away old beauty products. Heck, my dresser and beauty cabinet is proof of a lot of old beauty products that I still keep and haven’t chucked. The start of spring is a good indication for you to also spring clean your beauty products, starting with sunscreen.
