A Beauty Blogger’s Travel Beauty Essentials

A Beauty Blogger's Travel Essentials

When it comes to travel essentials, everyone has their very own must-have item with them. You’ve already seen all of my travel essentials (which is a crazy lot!).

For a bit of fun, I decided to ask a few of my fellow beauty bloggers on what their travel essentials are. To make it more difficult for them (y’know I’m never about the easy ;)), they could only name ONE travel beauty essential. The majority of the replies were “only one?!” 😛

Here Are Some Of My Travel Tips For You

Essential Travel Tips

© Atibordee Kongprepan

Happy Thursday, folks!

Hope you’ve had a great week so far and am enjoying the travel beauty posts I had for you the past 3 days.

Today, I thought I’d move away from travel beauty stuff and tell you some of my essential tips when travelling. These are tips I’ve picked up over the years and some had to be learned the hard way. Hopefully this will help you when you travel as well.

In no particular order (I’m just throwing them in as I go along), here are my top travel tips:

  • Write your full travel itinerary down and email it to your family and closest friend(s). This includes emergency phone numbers of everyone you’re sending the itinerary to and phone numbers and/or addresses of your destination.
  • Let your post office know you won’t be around to collect mail and request that they keep it in the post office for you. If you’re going to be away for a week, it’s not necessary to inform them as most post offices keep your mail for your for at least 5 working days. If you’re going for a month, inform the P.O that you’re going to be away for only 2.5 – 3 weeks and give them the date of your return a few days before you actually return. I don’t recommend telling them the exact dates you will not be at home.
  • Research the destination country you’ll be in and if it’s worth getting a local mobile phone SIM card (preferably with affordable add-on data). International roaming may not be necessary especially if you have sufficient data allowance for the prepaid card. People can reach you via Whatsapp, Viber, etc.
  • However, if a local SIM card is not a viable option, remember to switch your phone’s data roaming off. It’s often not the roaming calls and text messages that give you that shocking phone bill. It’s data roaming. Check your phone settings. Best to just turn 3G and everything related to data off when you’re overseas.

Travel Beauty: What’s In My Travel Makeup Bag?

When I was checking out travel essentials on YouTube, the highest amount of search results was “what’s in my travel beauty bag?” And you know me; I love taking a peek into what’s in other people’s bags so of course I’m going to want to see what’s in your travel beauty bag too. What I realised was, oh boy, they bring SO much makeup with them when they travel for just a few days! 😛

Now I don’t normally like to travel with a lot of makeup. When I was in Japan last year for slightly over a week, I made do with one Maybelline Color Tattoo, one eyeliner, one mascara, an eyelash curler, a BB cream, one blush and one compact powder. I didn’t even bring concealer with me!

Travel Beauty: What's In My Travel Makeup Bag?

Having said that, I had to bring a whole lot more makeup this time as I’m doing my own makeup for Beetrice’s wedding. She asked me if I wanted her makeup artist to do my makeup on her wedding day as well but I thought I’d do my own instead. In hindsight, damn, perhaps I should have taken her up on her offer because I wouldn’t need to carry so much makeup with me. 😛

Travel Beauty: My Travel Toiletries

When it comes to packing, I usually leave my clothes, accessories and so on to the last minute. However, the one set of items I always prepare well in advance is to plan what toiletries I want to bring with me for when I travel. It’s a fun thing to do and gives me something to look forward to, which is the holiday! 🙂

Travel Beauty: My Travel Toiletries

My luggage. Smaller than my usual one this time.

Toiletries-packing took longer than I expected this time. I need my skin to look its best for the two weddings I’ll be attending but that also means packing what I’m currently using. I wasn’t keen on bringing and using skincare sample sachets with me especially if I’ve not used the products before (don’t want to break out before the big events!).
