The Look

I love this look. It’s smoky, it’s chic and oh so sexy. I love how strong the brows are for this look. It complements the smoky eyes very well. The smoky eyes are done cat-like, tapering at the outer corners of the eyes. A very interesting addition to the dark eye makeup is the white eyeliner. Take a good look at the photo and you’ll know what I mean. Pale, rosy lips, a hint of blush and bronzer to contour the cheeks, and va va voom hair complete the look. Me very likey! ๐Ÿ˜€

Runway to “Realway” option: Oh most definitely achievable! This is the style of smokey eyes I love because it’s not very difficult to do. I’m usually quite conservative when it comes to creating the smoky eye on myself but I’d love to wing it out more like this. The white eyeliner at the lower waterline opens the eyes, making it appear bigger even with the dark eyeliner at the lower lash line. I’ve never tried white eyeliner at the lower waterline together with the dark eye liner at the bottom as well. I think it’s such a clever idea. Do give it a go too and let me know what you think!

LMFF 2013: Q&A with Barbara Palvin

Barbara Palvin, The Face of L'Oreal Paris

One of the highlights of LMFF for me was the interview with Barbara Palvin. The 4 L’Oreal Paris Official Bloggers (Style Hunter, Drop Dead Gorgeous Daily, Breakfast with Audrey and Sassybella) and I had the chance to do a brief interview with her at Sofitel Hotel on Collins St a few days ago.

Barbara is the youngest ambassador to be signed on by L’Oreal Paris. She’s 19 years old and have been on the cover of Vogue Russia, walked on the runway of Prada, Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Vivienne Westwood and so on. She sure has one packed CV for a girl of 19.

As Barbara was running on a very tight schedule, we could only do a group interview with her. A lot of the dictation below are verbatim, hence the sporadic discontinuity of sentences. I thought it would be nice to read the interview in Barbara’s voice. She’s young, she’s friendly, she’s cheeky and overall a lovely person to interview.

LMFF 2013 Day 4: More Backstage Shenanigans, Rae’s Beauty Tips and A Slight Runway Boo Boo

Note: This is a very picture-heavy post

LMFF 2013 Day 4: More Backstage Shenanigans, Rae's Beauty Tips and A Slight Runway Boo Boo

Day 4 in Melbourne started off with a big woosh. No really, it was extremely windy; I was heading out for lunch and was literally blown away a few steps to the road! Thank goodness there weren’t any cars around. Branches fell, it became pretty gloomy and started to rain. In the late afternoon, the sun was shining brightly once again. LMFF loves to welcome people to Melbourne, doesn’t it? ๐Ÿ˜›

The Look

This is such a sharp look that if you’re not careful, you might cut yourself. Okay, that was lame. ๐Ÿ˜› But really, look at all that edges! Sharp eyeliner, sharp hair. I love it. Instead of sticking to the usual black, navy blue was used for this look which just brings it up a few notches. Since the eye makeup is so strong, again, the lips are kept nude. No blush was used for this look except for some contouring of the cheeks and jaw, which just adds a cutting edge to the overall look. Brows are kept simple; it’s not too light yet not strong lest it competes with the eyes.

Runway to “Realway” option: It’s quite easily done. In terms of the eyes, I suggest applying the eyeliner all over the lids, creating a sharp edge at the outer corners of the eyes. Next, gently pat the Infallible Eyeshadow in All Night Blue over the eyeliner to give it more intensity. I don’t recommend swiping the brush on your lids windscreen wiper-style because you’ll risk eyeshadow fall out. When you gently pat the brush on the lids, you get better colour payoff and the eyeshadow stays on your lids longer. Keep everything else simple. I think I’m going to try this look out tonight. ๐Ÿ˜‰
