Guerlain’s Meteorites Perles du Paradis: I Know I Said No More Balls But I Lied

Guerlain's Meteorites Perles du Paradis Illuminating Sparkling Powder

The Guerlain Meteorites Perles do Paradis is a new addition to my jars of Meteorites in my makeup collection. I did say that I wouldn’t get another one of ’em Guerlain Meteorites, right? Err, please strike that off the record and pretend I never did give that statement. At all. Ahem.

The Perles du Paradis is part of Guerlain’s Spring 2013 collection. My purveyor of fine goods, Paris B, helped purchased this for me (thanks Peebs!) from Malaysia because it costs an arm and a leg in Australia. I’m not going to go into the whole “why is everything so damn expensive in Australia” tirade again. You’re heard me complain often enough. 😛

LMFF 2013 Campaign Look Recreation: Opulent Glamour

Okay, I have this huge girlie crush on Megan Gale. It’s embarrassing, but I do. Ever since I saw her on TV when I first came to Australia, I developed a little crush on this gorgeous woman that slowly grew. Which is why I’m exercising my knees and ankles 11 days before fashion week starts because I need them to be strong before I get completely starstruck in her presence and y’know, in case I collapse or anything.

Yeah I am quite the drama queen. 😉

Today I thought I’d do a recreation of one of her looks for the LMFF campaign. If you’ve seen the advertisements, you’ll notice that there are three different looks done on her by the very talented and internationally acclaimed makeup artist, Rae Morris. Now obviously I’m no Rae (excuse me, I can’t even put on fake eyelashes. Pfft.), but I thought I’d give it a go myself.

Bloggie Wednesdays: What Makes A Good Product Review?

Bloggie Wednesdays: What Makes A Good Product Review?

That’s a good question. It was an idea for a Bloggie Wednesdays topic by Beauty Swatch (thanks Yishan!) and I thought I’d write about it.

As bloggers who blog about beauty, needless to say that a majority of the blog posts we write are on product reviews. We write about the cosmetics we love, we dish out the ones we don’t. What’s your take? As a reader and/or blogger, what do you think makes a good product review?

There are so many ways to do it. Many seasoned bloggers like Christine from Temptalia and Karen from Makeup and Beauty Blog have set high standards on how product reviews are written. Christine writes her reviews in a very structured manner. Every product has categories it must fulfil. Karen’s style is more casual and loosey-goosey. She likes to talk about cosmetics in the form of stories. There’s no fixed style as to how she writes her reviews. It’s like she’s having an intimate beauty chat with her readers.

Both write reviews very differently yet they do incredibly well in the blogosphere.

Regardless of how these bloggers write their product reviews, there is almost always a set number of points they adhere to and areas to address when reviewing a beauty product. Incidentally, they are also what I like to read in product reviews and how I like to write them too. Break out the dictionary, folks. It’s time to brush up on your adjectives. 🙂
