Time Flies When You’re Having Fun

Hello hello dear readers!

Just a quick note to say I’m back from my 9-day holiday in Japan, and it was fabulous! I haven’t been back for 6 years and it was so good (yet feels quite strange) to visit the land of the rising sun once again.

From Tokyo to Kyoto and back to Tokyo again, it’s been a full week of sightseeing, plenty of walking, eating and shopping. It was a good break from the blog given that I was pretty burnt out for weeks. Now that I’m back, I’m all refreshed and ready to serve you with what I hope is going to be pretty cool content. 🙂

Do bear with me as I unpack, run errands and get all the important stuff sorted out first before I blog about the trip. Once that’s done, there’ll be heaps of pictures to share with you (I took about 1500 photos; there must be some good ones in there ;)).

Till then, here are some holiday shots for now.

When you read this, I’m about 50,000 feet in the air, going on my first proper holiday in 4 years. Yep, I’m heading to Japan, folks!

I’ve been planning this trip for over a year now, and I’m so excited it’s finally happening. Japan holds a lot of bittersweet memories for me and it will be good to see what it’s like again after many years. I had to really brush up on my pathetic attempts at conversing in Japanese but hey, there’s always Google Translate (thank heavens for technology, eh?).

What does this mean for the blog? When I was planning out my editorial calendar, I did think of scheduling posts while I’m away. It wasn’t till about a couple of weeks ago that I decided I’m going to let the blog go on a short break as well. Call it taking an annual leave if you will. I post on Beautyholics Anonymous on an almost daily basis and to be honest, I’m quite burnt out.

Flight Essentials

I need a break, and the blog most certainly needs a bit of a breather too. So for this week, there will not be any new posts until I’m back from my break. Hopefully all refreshed by then, and more than ready to serve you new and awesome stuff 😉

In the meantime, feel free to have a bit of a rummage through the archives, and I’ll see you when I’m back with lots of pictures and perhaps lots of *ahem* shopping.

Ja, mata!* 😀

tine xx

*See you later

Five Minutes with My Favourite Blogger: Xiao @ Messy Wands

Five Minutes with My Favourite Blogger is a series of posts where I’ll be showcasing some of my favourite bloggers. These are the bloggers whom I admire and inspire me.

Enjoy!

My style icon: Keira Knightley in period costumes. Because I secretly wish I could dress up like that in real life and have it be perfectly normal. Also, her eye makeup is unreal.

(Also, her cheekbones. If you’re not acquainted with Messy Wands, that’s really what we’re all about.)

Dream holiday destination: Am I unadventurous if I choose somewhere I’ve already been? I’ve visited Japan twice and loved both times so much, I’m almost convinced I was supposed to be born there. I want to visit Hokkaido next.

One random thing you can find in my bag: If beauty-related, La Mer lip balm (the lip balm I carry with me has to be in pot form in case I am wearing lipstick and have to layer over it. I hate getting my lip balms stained). Otherwise, now that it’s nearing winter, a pair of gloves.

My favourite item of makeup: Man, this is such a loaded question. Let me be boring and say my Shu Uemura retractable eyebrow pencil, because I’ve gone through at least five cartridges of those things, which is impressive considering I need to source it from Malaysia.

You will never see me without: Some sort of writing implement. If I wasn’t in the makeup reviewing business, I might be reviewing stationery instead. (I would feel incredulous about that statement if I didn’t absolutely know those excellent blogs exist.)

I’m absolutely addicted to: Watching live shows. There’s something intense and intimate about watching a live performance and I am so thankful that they’re so accessible (location-wise) to me.

One thing on my bucket list: This is difficult. For a very long time I’ve been living in the moment because I wanted to stop obsessing over things to come. Live in London, perhaps?

Xiao blogs at Messy Wands.
