Matte Matters with Clinique’s Stay-Matte Oil-Free Makeup

I’ve been reviewing a lot of foundations and BB creams the past weeks, haven’t I? It’s this thing I have; sometimes I get this insane attraction to blush and I keep talking about it until I’ve run out of words (well, I still love blush, so I don’t think that will ever happen. But you never know! :P). Then came base products, which resulted in the wave of reviews you’ve been seeing lately.

I’ve been trying out a lot of makeup base products the past few months. Some I’ve purchased, some are sent to me for review. I’m liking the fact that base products are getting better by the day and that it’s not difficult to find good ones anymore that do not leave your face looking like a greasy wok at the end of the day.

Another case in point, which is what I’ll be reviewing today, is Clinique’s Stay Matte Oil-Free Makeup.

Cosmetic Skin Solutions Vitamin C+E Serum Advanced Formula

Cosmetic Skin Solutions Vitamin C+E Serum Advanced Formula

I first heard of Cosmetic Skin Solutions’ Vitamin C+E serum on Twitter. Jacie raved about it and that it is comparable to the very popular Skinceuticals’ C E Ferulic serum but at a much lower price. I checked out the website and was certainly intrigued. The ingredients looked good and I admit, I was blown away by the price of the serum. I knew I had to try it out.

Now before I go on to the review of the serum, there are a few things I have to be clear about:

  1. I’ve never tried Skinceuticals Vitamin C+E Serum, so I cannot compare that serum with the one by Cosmetic Skin Solutions. All I can do is compare their ingredients and review how the latter worked on my skin.
  2. I’m not a scientist, so this isn’t going to be an in-depth review of the composition of the formula, comparison of pH between the serums, and so on. It’s a review of how this serum fared on my skin. However, I shall link you to more information on the in-depth comparison of these two serums later on in the review.

Okay, now that I’ve cleared that up, let’s begin!

Walking Down Memory Lane: My Collection of (Bad) Passport Photos

It’s true what they say. You simply cannot take good passport and/or driver’s license photos.

Late last year, I was back in Malaysia to spend some time with my family and friends. Mum insisted that I cleared up some of the junk I had left in my old bedroom. During the spring-cleaning, I stumbled upon my treasure box. It wasn’t a box of jewellery or expensive items, but things I collected when I was in school. It contained items that I deemed precious to me back then.

In the box, I also found my old passport-sized photos.

My style icon: Freddie Mercury, he is my icon in many senses not just style. He was simply the best.

Dream holiday destination: At the moment, it’s Bali – I really feel like some kind of a vegetable holiday, just eat, sleep and swim in the ocean – repeat for 2 weeks!

One random thing you can find in my bag: Little Anastasia’s toys. She puts them there.

My favourite item of makeup: At the moment its INNOXA Sheer Tinted Moisturiser SPF +30. Its really nice and makes you look fresh and rested while also provides with excellent protection from the harmful Australian sun.

You will never see me without: Well, I wish to say it’s the veiled beanie. But no… I do take it off. While a manicure is always present. Well groomed nice looking hands is a must for me.

I’m absolutely addicted to: Internet! and ice cream…. and beautiful shoes.

One thing on my bucket list: I don’t know. I think I have already done everything I wanted. So.. does it means I’m allowed to retire now?
