The Dermablend Concealer Commercial Blows My Mind

I’m sure many of you have already seen this advertisement by Dermablend circulating on beauty blogs and YouTube, but I’m posting it here in case you haven’t seen it.

This is, by far, the best commercial for a beauty product I’ve ever seen. Or at least, the one with the least bulls*t. I can’t think of a better person to choose to show how effective the concealer is than “Zombie Boy” Rick Genest. Okay, the massive amount of tattoos (especially on the head) scares the bejeezus out of me, but with the team of makeup artists painting and spraying him with the concealer, he actually looks like a regular dude on the street. Hmm, now I think I prefer him with the tatts 😛

Even Tim, the in-house skeptic, thinks that it’s a very good commercial. If you haven’t had a chance to see the ad, here it is. And don’t forget to check out the Behind The Scenes shoot!

FOTD: One Luxe Item

You know what, I think I’m starting to get the hang of this FOTD business, and so far, I’m liking it! It’s one day a week I get to shameless camwhore on the blog with little (I hope!) any ramifications. Or at least, I know you’re my peeps and you’re just too nice to say “sweet jeebus, her looks are boring. NEXT!” 😛

Today’s look is brought to you by, what I’d call, one luxe item. Every piece of makeup excluding the blush are drugstore brands. I wanted to create a simple (yeah, simple’s all I can do at this stage, I’m afraid) look using affordable makeup, but with one luxe item for the face to pop.

Bloggie Wednesdays: Product Provided For Consideration Reviews

Bloggie Wednesdays: Product Provided In Consideration Reviews

A recent article on Independent Fashion Bloggers on posting about “courtesy of” products got me thinking about how we as beauty bloggers write our reviews with products provided for consideration.

As IFB is a blog predominantly for fashion bloggers in the US, the article talked about personal style posts of bloggers wearing clothes provided to them for free by certain clothing brands. The question posed in the article asked the readers of they were bothered with posts of bloggers always featuring a majority of clothes provided courtesy of the companies?

Reading that article got me thinking about beauty blogging, and the posts we write on reviews of products that are provided for consideration. I’d like to follow the tone of the IFB article and make this into an open discussion as well.
